Objective To investigate the change of the basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF) leve in human detrusor muscle(DM)in bladder outlet obstruction(BOO)due to benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH)and its implication. Methods Fifty-four patients with BPH were divided into two groups:the obstructive DM stability and instability groups;and 15 men with bladder tumor who underwent operation in the same period were enrolled in the control group. The bFGF mRNA level in DM was measured by reverse transcription and polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)and the bFGF protein level was measured by immunohistochemical staining method. Results The bFGF-mRNA expression level of bladder smooth muscle cells was significantly lower in the control group than that in the obstructive DM stability and instability groups(all P<0.05),but there was no significant difference between the obstructive DM stability and instability groups(P>0.05). Conclusions The expression level of bFGF mRNA in bladder DM is elevated in BOO due to BPH,but there is little or no correlation between the increased expression of bFGF mRNA and detrusor muscle instability.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the change of nerve growth factor (NGF) mRNA in human detrusor in bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and their implication.
METHODSEight cases of bladder cancer and 40 patients with BPH were included in this study. All patients were divided into three groups, a control group, an obstructive detrusor stability group and an obstructive detrusor instability group. NGF mRNA in detrusor from all patients was measured using a RT-PCR.
RESULTSThe RT-PCR study indicated that NGF mRNA was expressed in detrusor of three groups of patients. There were significant differences among the three groups (P < 0.01). The expression of NGF mRNA in the obstructive instability group was higher than that in the obstructive stability group and in the control group. The NGF mRNA level in the obstructive stability group was higher than that in the control group.
CONCLUSIONThe expression of NGF mRNA in detrusor was elevated in BOO with BPH. The elevated expression of NGF mRNA might be correlated with detrusor instability (DI) due to BOO.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the therapeutic effect and safety of acupuncture at points of The Liver and Gallbladder Meridians for treatment of migraine.
METHODSMulti-central, randomized and controlled trial was used and 253 cases of migraine were divided into an acupuncture group and a western medicine group. The acupuncture group was treated with acupuncture at points of The Liver and Gallbladder Channels with Taichong (LR 3), Yang-lingquan (GB 34), Fengchi (GB 20), Ququan (LR 8) selected as main points, and the western medicine group with oral administration of Flunarizine tablets for 4 therapeutic courses. The total therapeutic effects 3 and 6 months after the treatment, the scores of various symptoms of migraine before and after treatment, and the stability of therapeutic effect in one-year following-up survey were observed in the two groups.
RESULTSAfter treatment, mean times and duration of the headache attack were significantly improved in the two groups (all P < 0.01) with the acupuncture group better than the western medicine group (P < 0.05). The total effective rates for stopping pain after treatment, 3 months and 6 months after treatment in the acupuncture group were 93.0%, 93.0% and 87.7%, respectively, which were better than 85.6%, 86.5% and 69.2% in the western medication group (all P < 0.01). One year later, the stability of the therapeutic effect in the acupuncture group was better than that in the western medicine group (P < 0.05); the adverse reaction and the compliance in the acupuncture group were significantly superior to those in the western medicine group.
CONCLUSIONAcupuncture at points of The Liver and Gallbladder Meridians for treatment of migraine is safe, effective, and with stable long-term therapeutic effect.

OBJECTIVETo explore the survey methods for the cultivated medicinal plant resources such as Panax notogingseng based on remote sensing.
METHODThrough the preliminary study by remote sensing technique and field survey in the study area, the optimal methods in the procedure were chosen for the survey.
RESULTIn this study,a set of survey method for P. notogingseng based on remote sensing technique was founded, which included the remotely sensed data-source selecting, the remote sensing image processing, interpretation and validation etc.
CONCLUSIONWith different resolution remotely-sensing data at the study area, the area, the natural storage and the yield of P. notoginseng were calculated. For Maguan county, with SPOT5 (5 m), the relative right rate of judgement, the relative precision of area and the relative precision of yield with statistics was 92.7%, 94.4% and 78.2% separately, and with TM (30 m), the relative right rate of judgement, the relative precision of area was only 71.4% and 58.8%, though, for Qiubei county, with TM (30 m), the relative precision of area with statistics could reach 74.7%, which showed that choosing appropriate remotely-sensing data and processing methods for different area, the remote sensing technique is feasible for resource survey of cultivated medicinal plants such as P. notoginseng.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect and indication of one stage posterior debridement and bone grafting fusion and internal fixation for thoracic tuberculosis.
METHODSFrom January 2005 to May 2011,12 patients with thoracic tuberculosis were treated with one stage posterior debridement and pedicle screw fixation combined with regular anti-tuberculosis treatment before and after operation. There were 7 males and 5 females, with an average age of 45 years and average course of 15 months. Information of operative time, blood loss, bony fusion, local kyphosis and neurologic functional were evaluated.
RESULTSAll infective focus were thoroughly removed and bone graft obtained fusion. The mean of operative time and blood loss were 170 min (120-210 min) and 510 ml (200-1 000 ml),respectively. Cobb angle from (28.7 +/- 9.2) degrees preoperatively decreased to (8.2 +/- 3.5) degrees postoperatively(P<0.05). No kyphosis correction loss, tubercular recurrence or failure of internal fixation was found. According to Frankel grade to evaluate neurological function, all patients arrived to grade E.
CONCLUSIONOne stage posterior debridement and bone grafting fusion and internal fixation is an effective method in treating thoracic tuberculosis. It has advantages such as thorough debridement, short operative time, less blood loss, more kyphosis correction and higher bony fusion rate.

Background: Right upper lobectomy (RUL) for lung cancer with different dissecting orders involves the most vari-able anatomical structures, but no studies have analyzed its effects on postoperative recovery. This study compared the conventional surgical approach, VAB (dissecting pulmonary vessels first, followed by the bronchus), and the alter-native surgical approach, aBVA (dissecting the posterior ascending arterial branch first, followed by the bronchus and vessels) on improving surgical feasibility and postoperative recovery for lung cancer patients. Methods: According to the surgical approach, consecutive lung cancer patients undergoing RUL were grouped into aBVA and VAB cohorts. Their clinical, pathologic, and perioperative characteristics were collected to compare periop-erative outcomes. Results: Three hundred one patients were selected (109 in the aBVA cohort and 192 in the VAB cohort). The mean operation time was shorter in the aBVA cohort than in the VAB cohort (164 vs. 221 min, P < 0.001), and less blood loss occurred in the aBVA cohort (92 vs. 141 mL, P < 0.001). The rate of conversion to thoracotomy was lower in the aBVA cohort than in the VAB cohort (0% vs. 11.5%, P < 0.001). The mean duration of postoperative chest drainage was shorter in the aBVA cohort than in the VAB cohort (3.6 vs. 4.5 days, P = 0.001). The rates of postoperative complica-tions were comparable (P = 0.629). The median overall survival was not arrived in both cohorts (P > 0.05). The median disease-free survival was comparable for all patients in the two cohorts (not arrived vs. 41.97 months) and for patients with disease recurrences (13.25 vs. 9.44 months) (both P > 0.05). The recurrence models in two cohorts were also comparable for patients with local recurrences (6.4% vs. 7.8%), distant metastases (10.1% vs. 8.3%), and both (1.8% vs. 1.6%) (all P > 0.05). Conclusions: Dissecting the right upper bronchus before turning over the lobe repeatedly and dissecting veins via the aBVA approach during RUL would promote surgical feasibility and achieve comparable postoperative recovery for lung cancer patients.

Objective To explore the strategy and countermeasures of Oncomelania hupensis snail control and evaluate the effect in inside-embankment areas of lake-type schistosomiasis endemic area, for providing the effective method for controlling and interrupting the schistosomiasis transmission. Methods The data of schistosomiasis epidemic and its control and preven-tion were collected in Junshan District,Hunan Province, and the effect of snail control countermeasures were evaluated and the trend of indexes of snails was drafted in the inside-embankment areas of Junshan District,Hunan Province from 1998 to 2007. Results The area with snails in the inside embankment areas of Junshan District decreased by 98.43%,from 1496.66 hm2 in 1998 to 23.48 hm2 in 2017. The occurrence rate and average density of of living snails decreased from 20.61%and 0.45 snail/0.1 m2 in 2003 to 2.06%and 0.03 snail/0.1 m2 in 2017. The highest area with schistosome infected snails was found in 2001 and the total area was 79.36 hm2,however,no infected snails were found since 2007. The total fiscal investment for schistosomiasis pre-vention and control was 398.857 million RMB in Junshan District, including molluscicide(81.7709 million RMB)and environ-ment reform(213.5 million RMB)respectively. Conclusion The comprehensive measures, mainly including the combination of molluscicide and environment reform have gotten a significant effect in snail control and elimination in the inside-embankment areas, but the snail surveillance still need to be strengthened in the historic areas with snails.
