This study was conducted to investigate the paclitaxel loaded by hydrazone bonds in poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(caprolactone) micelles (mPEG-PCL-PTX) on proliferation and apoptosis of human lung cancer A549 cells and its possible mechanisms of anti-tumor activity. The cell proliferation was measured with MTT assay. Flow cytometry were used to analyze the cell cycle. The cell apoptosis was analyzed using Hoechst/P staining. The expression levels of apoptotic genes expression in the mitochondrial apoptosis pathway were detected by RT-PCR and Western blotting, respectively. The mPEG-PCL-PTX could inhibit the proliferation of A549 cells and promote the apoptosis. The Bax, caspase-3 protein expression were increased while Bcl-2 protein expression was decreased in A549 cells. Results showed that the polymer containing hydrazone bond is non-toxic in vitro, the mPEG-PCL-PTX micelles can inhibit the proliferation and induce the apoptosis of A549 cells. Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2013;33(6):905-911
Nowadays, there is a trend of HIV prevalence transmitting from high-risk group to average-risk group in China. Rural China is the weak link of HIV prevention, and rural areas of Henan province which is one of the most high-risk regions in China have more than 60% of the AIDS patients in the province. Thus, improving the HIV awareness and implementing health education become the top-priority of HIV/AIDS control and prevention. A multistage sampling was designed to draw 1129 people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs) and 1168 non-PLWHAs in 4 prevalence counties of Henan province. A health promoting and social-psychological support model was constructed to improve the health knowledge of participants. Chi-square tests and unconditional logistic regression were performed to determine the intervention effect and influencing factors. All groups had misunderstandings towards the basic medical knowledge and the AIDS transmission mode. Before the intervention, 59.3% of the HIV/AIDS patients and 74.6% of the healthy people had negative attitudes towards the disease. There was statistically significant difference in the improvement of knowledge, attitude and action with regards to HIV prevention before and after intervention (P<0.05). PLWHAs who were males (OR=1.731) and had higher education level (OR=1.910) were found to have better HIV/AIDS health knowledge, whereas older PLWHAs (OR=0.961) were less likely to have better HIV/AIDS health knowledge. However, the intervention effect was associated with the expertise of doctors and supervisors, the content and methods of education, and participants' education level. It was concluded that health education of HIV/AIDS which positively influences the awareness and attitude of HIV prevention is popular in rural areas, therefore, a systematic and long-term program of HIV control and prevention is urgently needed in rural areas.

Objective To compare the macular structure and microcirculation in both eyes of the patients with myopic anisometropia. Methods Optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)was employed to scan the macular areas in both eyes of 44 patients with myopic anisometropia. The patients were assigned into high and low groups based on the refractive diopter, and the parameters such as retinal thickness, choroidal thickness, vascular density, and perfusion density in the macular areas of both eyes were compared between the two groups. Results Other macular areas except the central and external nasal areas and the choroid of the fovea in the high group were thinner than those in the low group(all P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in retinal vascular density or perfusion density in different areas between the two groups(all P>0.05).Conclusion In the patients with myopic anisometropia, most areas of the retina in the case of high myopia is thinner than that in the case of low myopia, while there is no difference in retinal vascular density or perfusion density in both eyes.

Objective To determine independent factors correlated with clinical effects of DK crush and classical crush technique with drug-eluting stents on bifurcation lesions. Methods 311 patients with bifurcation lesions were randomized to classical(C,n=156)or double kissing(DK)crush(n=155)stent implantation group. The primary endpoints included major adverse cardiac events(MACE).Results Final kissing balloon inflation(FKBI)success rate was 76%in C and 100%in DK groups(P<0.001).Dkcrush procedure was characterized by lower unsatisfactory FKBI rate(27.6%VS.6.3%,P<0.01).Clinical follow-up was available in 100%and angiographic follow-up in 82%patients.The overall restenosi srate was 32.3%in C and 20.3%in DK groups(P=0.01).respectively.Cumulative 8-month MACE was 35.9%in without-FKBI and 19.7%in with-FKBI sub-groups,and 11.4%in DK group(P=0.02).The incidence of stent thrombosis was 3.2%in C group (5.1%without VS.1.7%with FKBI)and 1.3%in Dkgroup(P>0.05).The predictive factors of MACE included minimal side branch stent lumen diameter and lack of DK crush technique. Conclusion DK crush technique is an alternative of double stenting techniquesin terms of improvement of restenosis and clinical outcomes.
