1.Approach to enteral nutrition in premature infants
Chinese Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 2015;30(2):89-91
After birth, premature infants have greater nutritional needs, because of decreased intrauterine nutrient deposition, immaturity of the gastrointestinal tract (GI),and medical conditions such as hypoxia, acidosis and surgery. In order to reach the optimal growth rate, continual reassessment and delivery of adequate energy and nutritional support are imperative. We suggest initiating enteral feeding in the first few days after birth to prime the GI in the premature infant, and then gradually achieve full enteral feedings when clinical condition is stable. Many signs may suggest feeding intolerance.Clinicians should composite these factors to determine. The use of drugs such as erythromycin to treat feeding intolerance in premature infants needs to be clarified.

OBJECTIVETo study the effect of Wu-He Dipsacus asper (WHDA), Traditional Chinese Medicine, injection on mice-aging model induced by D-galactose.
METHODSForty-eight Kunming mice (24 male and 24 female) were randomly divided into control group, model group, positive control group, 7.2 g/kg WHDA group, 3.6 g/kg WHDA group and 1.8 g/kg WHDA group with eight in each group. The model was induced through injecting D-galactose into peritoneal cavity and Morris water maze was used to detect the learning and cognitive ability of mice. The skin hydroxyproline, brain tissue malondialdehyde (MDA), lipofuscin (LP), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) levels of mice were detected; the IL-2 and IL-6 levels in serum of mice were detected by using double antibody sandwich ELISA method.
RESULTSEach WHDA group was significantly reduced in latency period compared with the model group during Morris water maze test (P < 0.05) and the number of mice in model group through the platform was less than other mice in each group (P < 0.05). The levels of MAD and LP of the control group and each WHDA group were less than model group in the detection of heart, brain tissue oxidation index (SOD, MAD, LP and GSH-Px, P < 0.05). The activity of SOD and GSH-Px in the control group and each WHDA group was significantly higher than that in the model group (P < 0.05). The skin hydroxyproline content of mice which had been injected with D-galactose was significantly lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05) and the skin hydroxyproline content of mice of WHDA group was significantly higher than that in the model group (P < 0.05). The IL-2, IL-6 levels in serum of mice in WHDA group were significantly higher than those in the control group and the model group (P < 0.05) and the IL-2, IL-6 levels in serum of mice in the model group were lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe effective constituents of WHDA have a variety of biological activity which can have a good effect on anti-aging by different ways, improving learning and memory function, eliminating free radicals antioxidant, and enhancing the body immunity and other aspects.

As a clean, efficient, and renewable energy, hydrogen is regarded as a promising alternative. Because of using biomass as substrate, microbial fermentative hydrogen production can meet the need of sustainable development. The factors affecting the process of microbial fermentative hydrogen production, are analyzed in this paper on the basis of microorganisms, substrates, products and operative parameters. The parameters related to hydrogen production from organic wastes, are also mentioned.

Induction of immune tolerance is characterized by high efficiency, low toxicity and economic advantages, and immune tolerance has very important significance in organ transplantation. In the establishment of immune tolerance, dendritic cells (DCs) play the key roles such as clonal deletion or clonal anerge, expressing t-cell inhibiting factors, activating helper T cells electively and inducing regulatory T cells, especially CD4 + CD25 + regulatory T cells,etc.Similarly,CD4 + CD25 + regulatory T cells whose primary target point is dendritic cell also have various functions such as affecting dendritic cells'maturing, restraining dendritic cells'antigen presentation to T cells, inhibiting the activation of T cells in non-specific ways and inducing immune tolerance.Current research shows, dendritic cells and CD4 + CD25 + regulatory T cells regard each other as target point and work synergetically. Here we mainly discuss the function and interaction of dendritic cells and CD4 + CD25 + regulatory T cells in the immune tolerance.

Background and purpose:Most breast cancer cell lines were derived from malignant pleural fluid or other tissues that metastasized from breast carcinoma.Breast carcinogenesis is under represented due to the significant distinction of biological characteristics between cancer cell lines and primary breast cancers.Few primary breast tumors spontaneously developed into immortal cell lines.Overexpression of human telomerase reverse transcriptase(hTERT) in normal epithelial cells led to immortalization. We aimed to establish immortalized cultures derived from primary breast cancer by introducing hTERT and determine the gene profile of hTERT-transfected cultures. Methods:hTERT was introduced into breast tumor cultures with a puromycin-resistant retroviral construct,pBABE-hTERT-puro.Real-Time RT-PCR was used to analyze the expression level of hTERT after transfection. The upregulated gene profile was determined with microarray techniques. Results:hTERT was stably over expressed,at least 1 400-fold in hTERT-transfected cells compared to pBABE-puro transfected cultures. These ectopic over-expressions led to immortalization of transfected cultures, which could undergo at least 40-50 passages.Microarray analysis further confirmed the over-expression of hTERT in transfected cultures and demonstrated that 22 genes were up-regulated due to over-expression of hTERT.No down-regulated genes were observed cross all cultures.Conclusions:Over-expression of hTERT led to immortalization of breast tumor primary cultures and up-regulated certain genes.

The selection of the prosthetic material determine the success or failure of hip arthroplasty. Currently, the metals, ceramics, polymer composites and carbon materials are the main prosthetic materials of artificial hip joint. They have some progresses in biocompatibility, elastic modulus, mechanical properties, useful life, but they still can't reach the ideal standard of design. In this essay, we mainly review the characteristics and applications of the current artificial hip joint materials through its classification in order to provide a reference for choosing appropriate hip joint materials in clinic and increasing characteristic of materials. We consider the polymer composites has more advantages such as biocompatibility, mechanical properties, corrosion resistance and price, even if it has shortages in abrasion resistance. As the researches of polymer composites are main focus on abrasion resistance, articular surface and strength, and its performances are increased fast, it has a wide prospect in future.
