1.Effects of artesunate in the cobination of other antimalarial drugs on activities of some murine plasma enzymes
Journal of Medical Research 2002;18(2):24-29
Effects of artesunate in the combination of other antimalarial drugs (primaquine, mefloquine or chloroquine) on activities of some murine plasma enzymes were studied: (1) The combination of artesunate with primaquine induced significantly plasma activities of GOT, GPT, LDH, - HBDH, CK and CK- MB in comparison with artesunate alone; (2) The combination of artesunate with mefloquine also induced significantly plasma activities of GOT, GPT, LDH, -HBDH, CK and CK- MB in comparison with artesunate alone; (3) The companation of artesunate with chloroquine reduced slightly plasma activities of GOT, GPT, LDH, -HBDH, CK and CK-MB. The results obtained in the study suggest that the combination of artesunate with primaquine or mefloquine on murine cellular damage is synergistic, while the combination of artesunate with chloroquine is probably antagonistic

2.Study on effects of PDP product (roborant drug) on experimental animals by some criteria of protein metabolism
Pharmaceutical Journal 2003;327(7):29-31
PDP has been verified to enforce the body’s immune system by improving both cellular immune and humour immune. Statistical analysis of blood cell quantity of rabbit before, during and after taking PDP showed that erythrocyte, leukocyte and platelet were proliferated significantly, especially leucocyte and platelet. G-globulin in the serum of white mouse tested by the dose of 5mg/10g and 10mg/10g of body weight has been found to increase significantly, the rate of albumin/globulin reduced. The same result also has been observed in the white sewer rat and rabbit. The effect of PDP on the grease was investigated on Tam hoang chicken. It was found that there was a reduction of the rate of the grease over body weight when the chicken was taken PDP. Electrocardiogram of rabbit serum, which was recorded at 2mV and 50cs/min proved that PDP did not cause any harmful effect on heart. Besides, no physical disease occurred on heart action

3.Study on elaboration of method for evaluation of chitosan content in product of Pokysan demic cream
Pharmaceutical Journal 2003;325(5):24-25
One method to determine the content of chitosan present in Pokysan cream has been developed. Chitosan was separated from Pokysan by dissolving the cream in acidic solution, extracted by chemical mixtures of I and II, which were prepared by laboratory of polymers in medico – pharmacy, and then collecting the precipitate of chitosan in the alkaline medium. This precipitate was then qualified by Lugol reagent and IR spectra. Collected chitosan precipitate was also qualified and quantified. These results proved that chitosan has been included in Pokysan cream and our method is confident

4.To evaluate the density on the upper part of femurs on elders by unigamma-plus
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;505(3):35-37
A study on 90 people ( 62 male and 30 female) who had history of bone fracture due to serious trauma was conducted in Friendship Hospital. The result showed that: the age and BMI is equivalent between two groups. The bone mineral density in males is higher than that in females, the bone mineral density is highest on neck of femur and lowest on trochiter. The rate of osteomalacia on the upper part of femur was 31.5%. The density of the neck of femur in male group is higher than female ones. Weight, BMI and sport playing are factors related to crease bone density. Age, smoking and alcohol drinking are factors that lessen the bone density. For the elders, it is nesesay to measure the bone density in order to have preventive methods and appropriate treatment, avoid bone facture later.

5.Effects of Camellia sinensis Leaf Extract on Dental Caries Causing Streptococcus mutans
Journal of Medicinal Materials - Hanoi 2003;8(4):110-114
Previous papers have reported that polyphenols from green tea (Camelia sinensis L.) were useful for controlling dental caries. This study examined the effects of the ethanol total polyphenol extract (CX) of green tea leaves on dental caries causing Streptococcus mutans. CX showed to inhibit the glycolysis, biofilm formation and respiration of S. mutans. At the concentration of 0.05%, CX suppressed 30% oxygen consumption in glucose excessive medium, totally inhibited NADH oxidase activity and killed the bacteria with D value of about 13 minutes. The combination of 0.025% CX and 0.25 mM NaF blocked pH drop during glycolysis. Polyphenols from green tea leaves inhibited therefore the adherence of S. mutans in vitro and proved to be effective against dental caries.

6.Vaginal misoprostol versus extra amniotic balloon for second trimester induced abortion
Ho Chi Minh city Medical Association 2005;10(1):13-16
The study was carried out at Hung Vuong Hospital in 1998 to compare vaginal misoprostol with extra-amniotic balloon to induce abortion in second trimester. Patients were received either 800mcg misoprostol vaginally (n=87) or 500ml of 0.9% NaCl solution inserted into extra-amniotic cavity (n= 93) for induced abortion. Vaginal misoprostol was repeated 24-hourly for maximum of three times. The abortion rates were 98.9% and 96.8% for misoprostol and balloon group, respectively. A second attempt was need in approximate one third of patients in misoprostol group and 10% in balloon group. Side effects of misoprostol were mild and transient. Vaginal misoprostol is as effective as balloon for induced abortion in second trimester. Misoprostol is cheap and easily stored and used. Vaginal misoprostol could be considered as an alternative to balloon for induced abortion

7.Filariasis mosquitoes and susceptibility of Cx.quinquefasciatus and Cx.vishnui to insecticides in the endemic area of Wurchereria bancropti filariasis
Journal of Malaria and parasite diseases Control 2003;0(6):42-48
Filariasis mosquitoes and susceptibility of Cx. quinquefasciatus and Cx. vishnui to insecticides were investigated in September 2004 and May 2005 in Khanh Trung commune, Khanh Vinh district, Khanh Hoa province. Twenty two mosquito species belonging to 5 genus have been found, of which the primary vector of W.bancrofti filariasis was captured with a high density, while vectors of B.malayi was found in a lower density. A total of 805 mosquitoes of 6 species (An.barbumbrosus, An. vagus, Cx.fuscocephala, Cx.quinquefasciatus, Cx.tritaeniorhynchus and Cx. vishnui) were dissected. None of them were positive with microfilaria. Cx.quinquefasciatus was found highly resistant to lambdacyhalothrin, alphacypermethrin and malathion with the mortalities of 11 %, 21%, and 60%, respectively. Similarly, the mortalities of Cx.vishnui were 19.76%, 23.83% and 13%-17%, respectively.

8.Ability of Bacillus subtilis for treatment of rhinosinusitis in a murine model
Journal Ho Chi Minh Medical 2005;9(4):215-219
Probiotic preparations of Bacillus subtilis (B. subtilis) have been used by humans to treat and prevent the common forms of diarrhea caused by bacteria and virus, as well as other infections. To develop preparations of B. subtilis as an intranasal form, the authors studied the persistence and the antirhinopharyngitis of B. subtilis given nasally to mice. Substantial numbers of B. subtilis were still present in the nasopharynx 6 days after inoculation. The reduction in bacterial growth was similar to the positive controls. Also a reduced histopathological score was evident in corresponding with treating by ampicillin and prednisolone. Specifically, the authors obtained superior results in mice having administration of a dose of B. subtilis a day before inoculation of S. pneumoniae

9.A new activation of lymphocytes T in vitro and in vivo in the hot water extract from leaves of Crinum latifolium L.
Pharmaceutical Journal 1999;274(2):8-10
In this study, we reported the possibility to enhance the "in vitro" and "in vivo" generation and cell (nuclear, nucleolar) activation of human and mouse T-lymphocytes by using Crinum latifolium (L.) (Vietnam) hot aqueous extracts (1-8mg/ml). For this purpose human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from healthy donors were obtained and cultured in supplemented RPMI 1640 containing (1:3) a hot aqueous extract from Cirnum latifolium (L.) (Vietnam). Adherent and non adherent cells that represent stimulated/effectors T - cells were examined cytochemically and by the immunocyto chemical methods - for CD4+ and CD8+T - cell verification. The result obtained showed that this plant extract can efficiently stimulate human CD4+T cells in vitro. The same extract applied in vivo, using healthy Balb/c mice, has the capacity to induce lymphocytosis and a strong T - cell activation in the peripheral blood of experimental animals. Since some alkaloids like lycorine have been previously showed as active molecules in the hot aqueous extract of Crinum asisticum, we presume their and other biologically active substances capacity to induce in vitro and in vivo T-lymphocytes generation and T-cell blast transformation. The possible cellular - mechanisms of Crinum latifolium (L.) (Vietnam) hot aqueous extract simulative effects are discussed in relationships to T - cell immune mechanism in normal and pathological cases as neoplasias and leukaenmias.
