1.Injuries of bone and joint in the chronic gout
Journal of Medical Research 2005;38(5):58-64
Recently, gout prevalence is increasing, but in Vietnam the knowledge of gout is not enough. Objectives: (1) Describe clinical X-ray manifestations of bone and joint damage related to chronic gout. (2) Identify suggestive factors to make diagnosis of bone and joint damage related to chronic gout. Methods: The cross-study included 54 patients with chronic gout presented in the Rheumatology Department of Bach Mai Hospital from March-2003 to June-2004. All of them were diagnosed gout according to the criteria of Bennett and Wood-1968 and had tophi nodules. Results: The common findings are polyarthritis (79.6%), lower limbs are involved more common than upper limbs (75-80% of patients had ankle, knee, first metatarsophalangeal joint arthritis) and symmetric arthritis (60% to 70%). All patients had a history of acute gout. 80% of patients had chronic gout presented in X-ray images, including joint space narrowing, erosion, new bone formation at the edge of a gradually expanding tophus. Important factors can be considered of chronic gout were male, middle age, symmetric arthritis of lower limbs, tophi nodules. Conclusions: Suggestive factors and X-ray of bone and join contribute to earlier diagnosis of bone and joint damage in chronic gout.

2.Cervical cancer screening
Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 2003;0(6):11-16
Screening by Test Pap smear is a preventative method and the best way for early detection for cancer, currently. After the Conference organized in May 2001, the gynaecologic cancers agreed with Bethesda system and give out the guidelines to clinical treatments: sample quality, common classification, results, automatic and depended tests, training and suggestion. Cervical cancer is an important healthy issuse which need to be screening because of its regular characteristics and have an effective treatment methods in the first early period, in the long-term preclinical period and can be able to detect. Using test Pap smear has quickly screen result, less invasive procedures, low cost and can be accepted widely

3.Relation between HPV genotype and clinical course of Juvennile - onset recurrent respiratory papillomatosis
Journal Ho Chi Minh Medical 2004;8(3):148-152
The aim of this study was to determine whether viral type HPV-6 and HPV-11 could have influence on the clinical course of recurrent respiratory papillomatosis in children. The detection of viral typing, using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was performed on papilloma biopsies of 36 patients at ENT Hospital HCM City from 3/2000 to 3/2004. HPV-6 was detected in 17 patient's biopsies and HPV-11 in 19 biopsies. After the findings, patients infected by HPV-11 have more aggressive than patients infected by HPV-6 (73.7% vs 29.4%; p=0.008). Patients with HPV-11 have higher prevalence of tracheotomy and shorter interval time between two operations than patients with HPV-6

4.Situation on insecticide, raticide poisons in five years 1996 - 2000 by poisoning analyses at Hai Phong Viet Tiep Hospital
Journal of Vietnamese Medicine 2004;304(11):26-33
By synthesizing and analysing poisoning analyses from 1996 to 2000 at Hai Phong Viet Tiep Hospital found an increasing incidence of insecticide and raticide poisons. Incidence of insecticide and raticide was 21.18% in 1996, in which raticide rate was 5.08%, raticide rate was 20.11% in 2000, there were a noticeable rate of raticide poisons without knowing the origin of the raticide in chinese (called chinese raticide). The poisoning analyses played a considerable role in giving first aid for poisons in general and for insecticide and raticide poisons in particilar

5.The relationship between juvenile laryngeal papillomas and maternal genital human papillomasvirus (HPV) infection
Ho Chi Minh city Medical Association 2004;9(4):199-201
This study attempted to delineate the relationship between juvenile laryngeal papillomas (JLP) and genital HPV infection in their mothers on 36 pediatric patients JLP with HPV(+) and 14 their mothers with HPV detection from cervical swab at ENT Hospital HoChiMinh city, from March 2000 to March 2004. The results showed that: the rate of genital HPV(+) is 85.7%; the similarity between child and mother genotype is 100% with HPV-11 and 75% with HPV-6. It could have the possibility of HPV transmision from mother to child in recurrent respiratory papillomatosis

7.Study on effects of PDP product (roborant drug) on experimental animals by some criteria of protein metabolism
Pharmaceutical Journal 2003;327(7):29-31
PDP has been verified to enforce the body’s immune system by improving both cellular immune and humour immune. Statistical analysis of blood cell quantity of rabbit before, during and after taking PDP showed that erythrocyte, leukocyte and platelet were proliferated significantly, especially leucocyte and platelet. G-globulin in the serum of white mouse tested by the dose of 5mg/10g and 10mg/10g of body weight has been found to increase significantly, the rate of albumin/globulin reduced. The same result also has been observed in the white sewer rat and rabbit. The effect of PDP on the grease was investigated on Tam hoang chicken. It was found that there was a reduction of the rate of the grease over body weight when the chicken was taken PDP. Electrocardiogram of rabbit serum, which was recorded at 2mV and 50cs/min proved that PDP did not cause any harmful effect on heart. Besides, no physical disease occurred on heart action

8.Study on elaboration of method for evaluation of chitosan content in product of Pokysan demic cream
Pharmaceutical Journal 2003;325(5):24-25
One method to determine the content of chitosan present in Pokysan cream has been developed. Chitosan was separated from Pokysan by dissolving the cream in acidic solution, extracted by chemical mixtures of I and II, which were prepared by laboratory of polymers in medico – pharmacy, and then collecting the precipitate of chitosan in the alkaline medium. This precipitate was then qualified by Lugol reagent and IR spectra. Collected chitosan precipitate was also qualified and quantified. These results proved that chitosan has been included in Pokysan cream and our method is confident

9.To evaluate the density on the upper part of femurs on elders by unigamma-plus
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;505(3):35-37
A study on 90 people ( 62 male and 30 female) who had history of bone fracture due to serious trauma was conducted in Friendship Hospital. The result showed that: the age and BMI is equivalent between two groups. The bone mineral density in males is higher than that in females, the bone mineral density is highest on neck of femur and lowest on trochiter. The rate of osteomalacia on the upper part of femur was 31.5%. The density of the neck of femur in male group is higher than female ones. Weight, BMI and sport playing are factors related to crease bone density. Age, smoking and alcohol drinking are factors that lessen the bone density. For the elders, it is nesesay to measure the bone density in order to have preventive methods and appropriate treatment, avoid bone facture later.

10.Effects of Camellia sinensis Leaf Extract on Dental Caries Causing Streptococcus mutans
Journal of Medicinal Materials - Hanoi 2003;8(4):110-114
Previous papers have reported that polyphenols from green tea (Camelia sinensis L.) were useful for controlling dental caries. This study examined the effects of the ethanol total polyphenol extract (CX) of green tea leaves on dental caries causing Streptococcus mutans. CX showed to inhibit the glycolysis, biofilm formation and respiration of S. mutans. At the concentration of 0.05%, CX suppressed 30% oxygen consumption in glucose excessive medium, totally inhibited NADH oxidase activity and killed the bacteria with D value of about 13 minutes. The combination of 0.025% CX and 0.25 mM NaF blocked pH drop during glycolysis. Polyphenols from green tea leaves inhibited therefore the adherence of S. mutans in vitro and proved to be effective against dental caries.
