Initial studies suggested a low prevalence of nodal metastases in T1 lung cancer.However,several recent studies have reported a relatively high prevalence of mediastinal lymph node metastases.The extrathoracic metastases in T1 lung cancer differs widely(0%-24%).In this article,we discuss the thinsection CT and FDG-PET findings in T1 non-small cell lung cancer and also discuss the correlation of CT findings with prognosis and survival,the correlation between tumor size and survival,and extrathoracic metastasis of T1 lung cancer.

The levels of C-reactive protein(CRP),adenosine deaminase(ADA),total cholesterol (TC),lactate dehydrogenase(LDH),carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA),ferritin(Fer),β2-microglobulin (β2-MG),alpha-fetoprotdn(AFP),carbohydrate anfigen12-5(CA125),carbohydrate antigen19-9(CAl99),carbohydrate antigen15-3(CA153),eyfra211(CY211)and neuron specific enolase(NSE)were detected by automatic chemistry analyzer or electrogenerated chemiluminescence analyzer in pleural and peritoneal exudates from 48 cases oftuberculosis and 82 cases of malignant tumors.The levels of CRP,ADA and β2-MG in tuberculotic exudates were higher than those in malignant exudates(P<0.01).However,the levels of TC,LDH,CEA,Fer,CA153,CY211,NSE,AFP,CA125 and CA199 in malignant exudates were higher than those in tuberculotic exudates(P<0.01).Combined determination of CRP,ADA,TC,LDH,CEA,Fer,and β2-MG in pleural and peritoneal exudates are of value in differentiation of tuberculosis from malignant exudates.Combined determination of CA153.CY211 and NSE in pleural effusions and AFP,CA125 and CA199 in peritoneal effusions can improve the semitivity and specificity of diagnosis for malignant exudates.

A novel chemiluminescence (CL) system combined with flow injection analysis for the determination of rutin is presented . It is based on the CL reaction of rutin and hexacyanoferrate*# in sodium hydroxide medium. The proposed method has a linear range of 1×10-4g/mL ～ 1×10-6 g/mL with a RSD of 3.7%(5×10-6g/mL,n=11) and a sample throughput of 60 h-1. The method was successfully applied to the determination of rutin in a pharmaceutical preparation.

HERG/IKr plays an important role in repolarization of cardiac action potential. In pathological condition such as cardiac ischemia, congestive heart failure and myocardial hypertrophy, the density and kinetic properties of HERG/IKr will change. This review is about modulation of HERG/IKr in pathological condition and effect of traditional chinese medicine on HERG/IKr.

Objective To investigate the role of the Wnt/LRPS/3-catenin signaling pathway in the pathogenesis of postmenopausal osteoporosis.Methods Fifty female Wistar rats aged 6-month-old,were randomly divided into control group ( NS,n =24 ) and ovariectomized group ( NOVX,n =26),NOVX underwent bilateral ovariectomy.At 0,4 and 8 weeks,all of rats were measured blood estrogen ( E2 ) and bone mineral density (BMD),4 and 8 weeks,low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 5 (LRP5),3-catenin and Runx2 mRNA in bone were measured respectively by reverse transcription (RT)-PCR.Results In 4 and 8 weeks,compared with NS which had (117±29) and (114+15) pmol/L in E2 level,(0.098 ± 0.016 ) and (0.095 ± 0.028 ) g/cm2 in BMD,NOVX had significantly decreased to ( 92±15 ) and(95±22) pmol/L in E2 level ( P＜0.05 ),( 0.076 ± 0.016) and ( 0.052 ± 0.013 ) g/cm2 in BMD values ( P ＜ 0.01 ).And bone tissue LRP5,β-catenin and Runx2 mRNA expression was 1.02 ± 0.06,1.04 ±0.05,1.07 ±0.21 in NS,NOVX was significantly reduced to 0.97 ± 0.04,0.58 ± 0.05,0.86 ±0.03 (P＜0.05).Conclusion Wnt/LRP5/β-catenin signaling pathway may be important in the pathogenesis of postmenopausal osteoporosis.

Objective:To study the HPLC fingerprint of Xinan capsules from different manufacturers, and establish the chemical pattern recognition method by using principal component analysis and cluster analysis in order to provide reference for the quality con-trol of Xinan capsules. Methods:The HPLC chromatographic column was Agilent ZORBAX SB-C18 (250 mm × 4. 6 mm, 5 μm);the mobile phase was 0.1% formic acid(A)-acetonitrile(B)– tetrahydrofuran(C) with gradient elution, the flow rate was 1.0 ml· min-1;the detection wavelength was 350 nm and the column temperature was 30 ℃. Totally 15 batches of samples were analyzed by the Evaluation System of Traditional Chinese Medicine Chromatographic Fingerprint Similarity (2004A version) and SPSS 19. 0 statisti-cal software. Results:According to the results of cluster analysis and principal component analysis, 10 batches of Xinan capsules were screened out, and the fingerprint common pattern was established. Conclusion:The method is accurate and reliable, and can be used to control the quality of Xinan capsules.

Based on the limitation of the segmental activityand signs of local tenderness,location diagnosis andtreatment for cervical pain and referred pain was per-formed with elevating—rotation reduction.Clinically, attention should be given to the combination of X—rayfilm and signs and symptom.The total effective ratefor 3687 eases thus treated was rather high.

Objective To determine counts of T lymphocyte sub-populations in malignant and tuberculous pleural effusion or ascites and evaluate its significance in difierential diagnosis.Methods T lymphocyte sub-populations in pleural effusion or ascites and peripheral blood were determined in 30 patients with tuberculosis and 31 patients with cancer by flow cytometry.Concentrations of cytokines Th1 and Th2,γ-interferon(IFN-γ),interleukin-12(IL-12)and IL-4 in pleural effusion or ascites were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Results Compared to that in peripheral blood,percentage of CD3+ and CD4+ T-celI counts were all higher in both malignant and tuberculous pleural effusion or ascites [(73±6)%and(67±20)%vs.(51±19)%and(48±14)%,P＜0.05].Although CD3+T-cells count was higher in tuberculous pleural effusions or ascites,no difference in ratio of CD3+ and CD4+/CD3+ and CD8+ T-cell counts was found between malignant and tuberculous pleural effusions or ascites.However,ratios of IFN-γ and IL-12 to IL-4 were higher in tuberculous pleural effusion or ascites(54±24 and 82±19vs.8±6 and 19±10,t=10.34 and 16.28,respectively,P＜0.01).Conclusions CD3+ and CD4+ Tcells can be aggregated in both malignant and tuberculous pleural effusions or ascites,80 nature (tuberculosis or malignancy)of pleural effusion or ascites can not be differentiated by CD4+ and/or CD8+ T-cell counts only,and determination of cytokines Th1 and Th2 can help their differentiation.

AIM To observe whether acute stimulation of BRL 37344, a β3-adrenergic receptor (β3-AR) agonist, has the same effects of exacerbating hemodynamics and increasing in β3-AR expression on rats with failing heart as chronic administration. METHODSRats received two doses of isoprenaline (Iso, 340 mg·kg-1, sc, with a 24-h interval) to prepare heart failure model. After 8 weeks, rats were given iv BRL 37344 0.4 nmol·kg-1·min-1 for 10 min. Hemodynamics were measured at 0, 10, 30 min, 1, 2, 3 h, 1, 2 and 7 d after BRL 37344. Levels of β-AR mRNA in myocardium were measured at 0, 1, 2 and 7 d after BRL 37344 by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. RESULTSCompared with Iso group, heart rate, left ventricular end systolic pressure and +dp/dtmax were significantly higher, and left ventricular end diastolic pressure was significantly lower during 1-3 h after BRL 37344 injection in Iso+BRL group. Then, they were restored to the same level as that prior to BRL 37344 injection. Compared with normal control, the levels of β1-, β2- and β3-AR mRNA displayed no significant change in BRL group;the level of β1-AR mRNA was lower and the level of β3-AR mRNA was higher in Iso group. In Iso+BRL group, much more lower β1-AR mRNA level and much higher β3-AR mRNA level were shown on d 2 and d 7 than Iso group. CONCLUSION Acute administration of β3-AR agonist has a shorter improved hemodynamics. But it caused the same result as chronic administration in reduction of β1-AR mRNA and increment of β3-AR mRNA in failure hearts, which may aggravate the cardiac functions.
