1.Therapeutic effect of operation treatment on lumber intervertebral discprolapse
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2005;11(12):1039-1040
ObjectiveTo analyze the factors related to the operation treatment effectiveness of lumber intervertebral discprolapse.MethodsThe data of 442 patients with lumber intervertebral discprolapse and treated by operation were analyzed retrospectively.Results442 patients had results of excellent in 319 cases (70.3%), good in 89 cases (20.2%), fair in 27 cases (6%), and poor in 7 cases (3.5%), the rate of re-operation was 2.9% (13 cases).ConclusionThe operation treatment of lumber intervertebral discprolapse must be performed after having precise diagnosis, surgical operation adaptation and suitable operation methods and enhancing nursing and recovery should be taken after operation in order to get a satisfactory effectiveness.

This retrospective study was to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of X-ray and CT in diagnose of simple lumbar vertebral wedge.Thirty—two elderly patients with CT-confirmed simple lumbar vertebral wedge were analyzed retrospectively.Following X-ray examination,23 patients were found to have compression fracture, and 9 patients were diagnosed with simple lumbar vertebral wedge. Thus,CT scan may be more sensitive and specific than X-ray examination in the diagnosis of simple lumbar vertebral wedge after trauma in the elderly.

Objective To explore the job tasks and qualifications of midwives in China for the next five years. Methods Anonymous surveys were sent by email to 80 professionals to learn the job tasks and qualifications of midwives in China using the Delphi method. The recipients include senior midwives, nursing administrators and nursing educators, senior obstetricians and gynecology department chiefs,as well as health administrators. Results Learnt in the survey were the qualifications and job tasks of professional midwives in China for the next five years. The system concludes 77 job tasks of midwives, among which 31 items are supposed to be completed independently. Conclusion China should develop the midwife system as soon as possible, strengthen the midwife training and education, develop the midwife access system and the corresponding laws and regulations for midwives, standardize midwife management, clear the midwife qualifications and job tasks, formulate normative midwife promotion system, and realize the midwifery scientific management.

Bavachin is a dihydroflavonoid compound isolated from Psoralea corylifolia, and exhibits anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor and lipid-lowering activities. Recent attention has gradually drawn on bavachin-induced apoptosis in many human cancer cell lines. However, the anti-cancer effects and related mechanisms in colorectal cancer remain unknown. Here, we investigated the effects of bavachin on colorectal cancer in vivo and in vitro. The results showed that bavachin inhibited the proliferation of human colorectal cancer cells and induce apoptosis. These changes were mediated by activating the MAPK signaling pathway, which significantly up-regulated the expression of Gadd45a. Furthermore, Gadd45a silencing obviously attenuated bavachin-mediated cell apoptosis. Inhibition of the MAPK signaling pathway by JNK/ERK/p38 inhibitors also weakened the up-regulation of Gadd45a by bavachin. The anticancer effect of bavachin was also validated using a mouse xenograft model of human colorectal cancer. In conclusion, these findings suggest that bavachin induces the apoptosis of colorectal cancer cells through activating the MAPK signaling pathway.
