1.MOLYBDENUM AND SPONTANEOUS CONTRACTION OF CARDIAC CELLS IN VITRO

Cardiac cell was cultured in low (5%) and normal (20%) bovine serum medium with or without molybdenum (Mo) supplementation (0.7ppm). Spontaneous contraction of the cultured cells was examined periodically. It was observed that the spontaneous contraction of the cardiac cells cultured in the low serum medium was better than that in the same medium without Mo and the frequency of the contraction was almost near the one cultured in normal serum medium. Some strengthen effect of Mo on the contraction was also seen in cardiac cell cultured in the normal serum medium with Mo.It suggested that Mo was necessitated in the contraction of cardiac cell and might be involved with the pathogenesis of certain cardiac diseases and Keshan disease and with their prophylaxis and treatment as well.
2.Correlation between peripheral nerve injury and evoked electroneurographic changes in early stage

BACKGROUND: The injury of peripheral nerve may cause electroneurographic changes. However, what is the correlation between electroneurographic changes and the extent of nerve injury?OBJECTIVE: To probe into the changes of evoked electroneurography in early stage after nerve injury for clinical application and reference.DESIGN: Paired t-test in three groups of samples.SETTING: Department of Traumatic Orthopaedics People' s Hospital of Beijing University.MATERIALS:The trial was conducted in the Animal Center of the People's Hospital of Beijing University from August 2003 to December 2003. The subjects were 8 adult New Zealand rabbits of SPF grade(weighing 1.5 kg) and either gender from the Animal Center of Medical College of Beijing University.METHODS:The model of nerve injury was made in the 16 tibial nerves of the 8 rabbits, in which one third or two thirds of each nerve was ligated at the same transverse part. The samples were thus divided into three groups: non-injury (normal) group, 1/3 nerve injury group and 2/3 nerve injury group.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The indices of evoked electroneurography, i. e. motor nerve condution velocity, negative M wave amplitude, negative M wave area, maximal M wave amplitude and maximal M wave area were measured in the three groups. The correlation between the extent of nerve injury and the 5 indices was analyzed.RESULTS: All the 5 indices of the 3 groups were significantly different( P< 0.05). The mean values of the 5 indices were 1.00 ±0.0,0.97 ±0.18,1.01 ±0.22;0.98 ±0.16 and 0.98 ±0.19 in normal group, 0.76 ±0.12,0.41 ± 0.24, 0.47 ± 0.30, 0.48 ± 0.27 and 0.50 ± 0.29 in 1/3 nerve injury group, and 0. 62±0. 10, 0. 11 ±0. 11, 0. 11 ±0. 10, 0. 12 ±0. 14 and 0.13± 0. 12 in 2/3 nerve injury group. The coefficient of correlation between the 5 indices and the injury were 0. 902, 0. 938, 0. 936, 0. 907, and 0. 914, respectively.CONCLUSION: In the early stage after peripheral nerve injury, the electroneurographic indices negatively correlate with the extent of nerve injury. The negative M wave amplitude and area are relatively more closely correlated with the extent of injury.
3.Value of serum phosphopyruvate hydratase protein for the diagnosis of cerebral injuries in patients with brain malignant tumor

ObjectiveTo study the value of serum phosphopyruvate hydratase PH protein for the diagnosis of cerebral injuries in patients with brain malignant tumor.MethodsSerum PH protein levels were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in 56 patients with brain malignant tumor. Compare the differences among the status of cerebral injuries.And compare the differences among the patients with general with different radiotherapy methods 32 cases,three dimensional conformal radiothrapy 24 cases,and different peritumoral brain edema levels(cmild 18 cases, moderate ao cases severe 30 cases). Results Before radiotherapy the levels of serum PH protein in patients and the health control were (4.12±0.56),(4.66±0.62)μg/L,no significant differece(P>0.05).And there was also no significant difference between the before and after radiotherapy for the cerebroma,the levels were(7.84±0.72) μg/L,(t=3.89,P=0.001 ).The PH levels of general radiation therapy and three dimensional comformal radiotherapy were (13.59±0.92),(6.14±0.52)μg/L.There was cignificant difference(P=0.002) After radiotherapy,The levels of serum PH protein of the different dropsical degree,mild,moderate and severe were(4.47:±0.55),(6.17±0.62),(15.21±0.86) μg/L, respectively,showing significant difference(F=15.61,P=0.0001).The therapies influenced the serum PH levels(P<0.05)ConclusionHigh levels of serum PH protein are associated with severe cerebral injuries in brain malignant tumor.So high serum PH level may serve as an progressive predictor of the injury.
4.The role of adiponectin postconditioning on myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury in rats

Objective To study the role of adiponectin (ADP) postconditioning on myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury (MIRI) in rats .Methods SD rats were divided randomly into 3 groups :⑴Group Sham were processed identically except the left anterior descending coronary artery(LAD) and was not ligated;⑵ Group MIRI were subjected to LAD occlusion for 30 min and reperfusion for 120 min;⑶ Group ADP were subjected to ADP injection before reperfusion .The titer of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) ,cardiac troponin I(cTnI) and malondialdehyde(MDA)in plasma were observed .The levels of superoxide dismutase(SOD) and malondialdehyde(MDA)in myocardial tissue were observed .The results of HE staining and electrocardiograms(ECG) was ob‐served .Results Compared with Group Sham ,LDH ,cTnI and MDA in plasma in Group MIRI increased (P<0 .05);Compared with Group MIRI ,LDH ,cTnI and MDA in plasma in Group ADP declined (P<0 .05);Compared with Group Sham ,SOD decreased and MDA increased in myocardial tissue in Group MIRI (P<0 .05);Compared with Group MIRI ,SOD increased and MDA decreased in myocardial tissue in Group ADP (P<0 .05) .The myocardial injury was serious in Group MIRI while it was lightened in Group ADP .There were acute ischemia ECG change in Group MIRI while it was slight in Group ADP .Conclusion ADP postconditioning is a protective factor against MIRI in rats ,it is related to eliminating free radicals and alleviating the damage of lipid peroxidation .
5.Effects of propofol combined with remifentanil or sufentanil on cognitive function in patients undergoing awake craniotomy

Objective To investigate the effect of propofol combined with remifentanil or sufentanil on cognitive function in patients undergoing awake craniotomy. Methods Sixty ASA Ⅰ or Ⅱ neurosurgical patients undergoing resection of glioma in cerebral cortical functional area were divided into 2 groups by random digits table: propofol + remifentanil (group RF, 30 cases) and propofol + sufentanil (group SF, 30 cases). Scalp nerve block and local infiltration of incision and dura mater were performed in both groups with 0.5% ropivacaine. Propofol, remifentanil and sufentanil were administered by target controlled infusion. The target plasma concentration of remifentanil was set at 1-2 ng/ml and that of sufentanil at 0.1-0.2 ng/ml,propofol was set at 3-6 μg/ml at open skull stage. The patients were inserted laryngeal mask and mechanically ventilated. Bispectral index (BIS) was monitored as the depth of anesthesia. Mini-mental scale examination (MMSE) was investigated at the time of preoperative,intraoperative wake-up after the patients had been targeted capacity. Results Blood concentration of propofol in group RF was (1.10 ± 0.06)μg/ml, group SF was (0.98 ± 0.05)μ g/ml in patients during intraoperative wake-up. BIS in group RF changed from 46.4 ± 2.5 to 90.8 ± 3.2 during wake-up, group SF from 44.8 ± 2.1 to 89.9 ± 3.2. The cognitive function score was not significantly different at the time of preoperative and intraoperative assessment. Conclusion Propofol combined with remifentanil or sufentanil has no effect on cognitive function for the patients undergoing awake craniotomy.
6.Correlation Analysis of Pliperidone Plasma Concentration and Clinical Efficacy in Patients with Schizophre-nia

Objective: To examine the correlation between paliperidone plasma concentration and clinical efficacy in the patients with schizophrenia. Methods:Totally 50 schizophrenia patients were treated by paliperidone. The plasma concentration of paliperidone was monitored by RP-HPLC at the weekend of the 2 nd, 4 th and 6 th week, the clinical efficacy was evaluated using the positive and negative syndrome scale ( PANSS) , and the correlation between paliperidone plasma concentration and clinical efficacy was analyzed. Results:The mean plasma concentration of paliperidone was (31. 89 ± 17. 36) ng·ml-1 at the weekend of the 6th week, and no cor-relation was found between paliperidone plasma concentration and the clinical efficacy (r=0. 146,P=0. 074). Paliperidone plasma concentration in 12 patients with adverse drug reactions (ADR) was higher than that in the patients without ADR [(45. 87 ± 19. 21)ng ·ml-1 vs (27. 06 ± 11. 13) ng·ml-1, P <0. 01]. Conclusion: Paliperidone plasma concentration shows significant individual differences. With the increase of paliperidone plasma concentration, clinical efficacy isn't necessarily improved, while the incidence of ADR may be increased. Therefore, the monitoring of paliperidone plasma concentration is recommended to optimize the therapeutic reg-imen.
7.THREE-DIMENSIONAL COMPUTERIZED RECONSTRUCTION OF HEART AND CORONARY ARTERY ON INTERNET

Objective To reconstruct three-dimensional (3D) image of heart and coronary artery on internet and explore the reliability. Methods After the contrast medium was injected into coronary artery of 2 heart specimens, hearts were scanned by UFCT with enhancement volume. One patient's UFCT images of coronary artery angiography were also chosen.Then the primitive images were transposed format, removed noise, specified interesting areas. 3D software on server was applied to reconstruct heart and coronary artery. Results The reconstructed 3D images of the heart and coronary artery were realistically displayed, freely rotated and transected.Main parts and branches of coronary artery were similar to those in the images of the UFCT. Conclusion Heart and coronary artery can be reconstructed on internet,which offers a new approach for reconstructing organs and tissues of human being.;
8.Relationship and clinical significance between mutated BRAF with prophylactic cen-tral-neck nodal dissection in papillary thyroid carcinoma

Objective:To evaluate the molecular diagnosis marker of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC),the relationship between lymphatic metastasis of central neck compartment PTC,and the opera-tion indication of prophylactic central neck dissection.Methods:We conducted a retrospective study, including 275 PTC patients and detected their BRAF mutation rates during 201 2 and 201 4 and explored the risk factors of the central node lymphatic metastasis by Logistic regression model.Results:Of the 275 PTC patients,224 (81 .5%)were female and 51 (1 8.5%)were male.BRAF mutational rates were 53.8% (1 48 /275)and lymphatic metastasis 57.8% (1 59 /275).Multivariate analysis showed calcifica-tion (ORadjusted =1 .47,95%CI:1 .1 0 -1 .98,P =0.01 ),tumor diameter (ORadjusted =1 .48,95%CI:1 .04 -2.30,P =0.048)and age (ORadjusted =1 .48,95%CI:1 .04 -2.30,P =0.048)were associa-ted with lymphatic metastasis.In stratified analysis,BRAF mutation (ORadjusted =3.1 9,95%CI:1 .1 8 -9.43,P =0.023 )in clear boarder group and BRAF mutation (ORadjusted =4.84,95% CI:1 .68 -1 3.84,P =0.003)in calcification group were more likely to have lymphatic metastases.Conclusion:Central neck metastasis takes up a high ratio in papillary thyroid cancer patients,BRAF mutation in pa-pillary thyroid carcinoma is a characteristic molecular event.Furthermore,patients with calcification un-der ultrasound detection,lower age group and longer tumor diameter are more susceptible to suffer central neck metastasis.Especially for stratified analysis,non-calcified BRAF mutation or BRAF mutation with clear border under ultrasound detection are more susceptible to suffer central neck metastasis,and radical prophylactic central neck dissection should be carried on for these patients.

10.Effects of transcranial magnetic stimulation on motor function after acute cerebral infarction

ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of transcranial magnetic stimulation(TMS)on motor function after acute cerebral infarction.Methods60 patients who suffered acute cerebral infarction were assigned to experiment group and control group(30 cases each group). Both groups received rehabilitation theropy. Meanwhile,experiment group received TMS. Fugl-Meyer Assessment(FMA), National Institute of Health Scale of Stroke(NIHSS), Barthel Index(BI) were used to measure the outcome.ResultsThe scores of FMA and BI increased significantly(P<0.05) while that of NIHSS decreased significantly(P<0.05) in both groups after treatment. However, these scores in experiment group improved more compared with those of control group(P<0.05).ConclusionTMS is helpful to improve the motor function, ability of daily living and neurological function.
