OBJECTIVETo observe the impacts of the acupoint catgut implantation on postpartum pain of uterine contraction with qi and blood deficiency.
METHODSOne hundred and ten primiparas of natural delivery differentiated as qi and blood deficiency pattern in TCM were selected as the subjects. They were randomized into an acupoint catgut implantation group (55 cases) and a routine nursing group (55 cases). In the acupoint catgut implantation group, the catgut was implanted in Zigong (EX-CA 1), Zusanli (ST 36), Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Pishu (BL 20) and Geshu (BL 17) in 6 h after delivery; additionally, the routine post-delivery nursing was adopted. In the routine nursing group, the routine post-delivery nursing was applied simply. Visual analogue scale (VAS) and the pain relief time of uterine contraction were compared in 24 h, 48 h, 72 h and 96 h after acupoint catgut implantation between the two groups.
RESULTSVAS Scores in 24 h, 48 h, 72 h and 96 h after acupoint catgut implantation in the acupoint catgut implantation group were lower apparently than those in the routine nursing group (3.31 +/- 0.39 vs 4.31 +/- 0.29, 1.86 +/- 0.29 vs 2.66 +/- 0.25, 0.89 +/- 0.21 vs 1.59 +/- 0.24, 0.35 +/- 0.10 vs 0.69 +/- 0.13, all P < 0.05). The pain relief was achieved in (72.06 +/- 6.83) h in the acupoint catgut implantation group and was (123.42 +/- 11.12) h in the routine nursing group. The pain relief in the acupoint catgut implantation group was achieved more quickly (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONThe intervention of acupoint catgut implantation in 6 h after natural delivery in primiparas prevents effectively postpartum pain of uterine contraction.

Objective To analyze the risk factors of retinopathy and nephropathy in hospitalized patients with type 2 diabetics. Methods 24 h-urinary albumin was measured in 2 338 patients with type 2 diabetic hospitalized from July, 2002 to Sep, 2008 in our hospital. All the subjects were divided into normalbuminuria group (NA) and diabetic nephropathy group (DN), the latter consisted of microalbuminuria group (MAU) and macroalbuminuria group (CAU). All the patients were divided into normal retina group (NR) and diabetic retinopathy group (DR), the latter consisted of background diabetic retinopathy group (BDR) and proliferative diabetic retinopathy group (PDR) according to fundus photography. Results (1) The percentages of DR and DN of this cohort were 28.8% and 28.7%, respectively. The percentage of DR and DN had no statistical difference between male and female (27.8% vs 30.0%;29.6% vs 27.6%, P>0.05). (2) The percentage of DR was 23.1%, 37.7% and 56.6% in NA, MAU and CAU group, respectively. There was significant difference among different albuminuria group (P<0.01). (3) The percentage of DN was 23.1%, 41.1% and 59.3% in NR, BDR and PDR group, respectively. There was significant difference among different DR group (P<0.01). (4) Combined with DN, diabetes duration, systolic pressure, hemoglobin A1C, triglyceride were independently associated with DR by Logistic regression analysis. Meanwhile, combined with DR, systolic pressure, hemoglobin A1C, and triglyceride were all independently associated with DN. Conclusions The onset and progression of microvascular complications in type 2 diabetic patiens are correlated with hemoglobin A1C and systolic pressure. Diabetic retinopathy is closely correlated with diabetic nephropathy.

Pathological cardiac hypertrophy is a maladaptive response in a variety of organic heart disease(OHD),which is characterized by mitochondrial dysfunction that results from disturbed energy metabolism. SIRT3, a mitochondria-localized sirtuin, regulates global mitochondrial lysine acetylation and preserves mitochondrial function. However, the mechanisms by which SIRT3 regulates cardiac hypertrophy remains to be further elucidated. In this study, we firstly demonstrated that expression of SIRT3 was decreased in AngiotensionⅡ(AngⅡ)-treated cardiomyocytes and in hearts of AngⅡ-induced cardiac hypertrophic mice. In addition, SIRT3 overexpression protected myocytes from hypertrophy, whereas SIRT3 silencing exacerbated Ang II-induced cardiomyocyte hypertrophy. In particular,SIRT3-KO mice exhibited significant cardiac hypertrophy. Mechanistically, we identified NMNAT3 (nicotinamide mononucleotide adenylyltransferase 3), the rate-limiting enzyme for mitochondrial NAD biosynthesis, as a new target and binding partner of SIRT3.Specifically,SIRT3 physically interacts with and deacety-lates NMNAT3,thereby enhancing the enzyme activity of NMNAT3 and contributing to SIRT3-mediated anti-hypertrophic effects.Moreover,NMNAT3 regulates the activity of SIRT3 via synthesis of mitochon-dria NAD.Taken together, these findings provide mechanistic insights into the negative regulatory role of SIRT3 in cardiac hypertrophy.Sirtuin 3(SIRT3),a mitochondrial deacetylase that may play an impor-tant role in regulating cardiac function and a potential target for CHF

OBJECTIVETo explore the mechanical behavior of lumbar spine loaded by stress and provide the mechanical basis for clinical analysis and judgement of lumbar spine fracture classification, mechanical distribution and static stress.
METHODSBy means of computer simulation method, the constructed lumbar spine three-dimensional model was introduced into three-dimensional finite element analysis by software Ansys 7.0. The lumbar spine mechanical behavior in different parts of the stress loading were calculated. Impact load is 0-8000 N. The peak value was 8000 N. The loading time is 0-40 minutes. The values of the main stress, stress distribution and the lumbar spine unit displacement in the direction of main stress were analyzed.
RESULTSThe lumbar spine model was divided into a total of 121 239 nodes, 112 491 units. It could objectively reflect the true anatomy of lumbar spine and its biomechanical behavior and obtain the end-plate images under different stress. The stress distribution on the lumbar intervertebral disc (L(3)-L(4)) under the axial, lateral flexion and extension stress, and the displacement trace of the corresponding processus articularis were analyzed.
CONCLUSIONIt is helpful to analyze the stress distribution of lumbar spine and units displacement in static stress loading in the clinical research of lumbar spine injury and the distribution of internal stress.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the diagnosis and treatment of malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the retroperitoneum (MFHR).
METHODSThe clinicopathological features, treatment and prognosis of 31 patients with MFHR were retrospectively analyzed.
RESULTSThe mean age of the patients was 52.7 +/- 14.1 years. Male:Female = 22:9. The primary symptoms were abdominal mass and pain. The average diameter of tumor was 15 cm. The histopathologic types of the tumor were inflammatory, storiform-pleomorphic, myxoid and giant cell in 16, 10, 4 and 1 cases. The overall survival rate of 1-, 3- and 5-year was 61.3% +/- 9.8%, 31.6% +/- 11.3% and 21.1% +/- 11.4% with a median survival time of 17.0 +/- 6.3 months. Complete resection of the tumor was the major prognostic factor. Postoperative radiotherapy of 20 - 45 Gy was able to prolong the median survival from 12.1 +/- 11.6 months of surgery alone to 26.4 +/- 22.0 months of surgery plus postoperative radiotherapy though without statistical significance (P = 0.051). Postoperative CHOP chemotherapy was not shown to be beneficial.
CONCLUSIONChemotherapy remains the important method of cure. The survival in patients with MFHR might be improved by complete resection combined with chemotherapy or/and radiotherapy.
