Objective To explore the effects of lycium barbarum polysaccharide (LBP) on restraining the mouse pancre?atic cancer cells LTPA by the polarization of macrophages to type 1 macrophages (M1). Methods LTPA tumor model of the subcutaneous CB-17SCID mice was constructed. Model mice were randomly divided into tumor-bearing model group (n=10) and LBP treatment group (n=10). The LBP treatment group was fed 10mg/kg LBP every day, and the tumor-bearing model group was fed the same dose of normal saline. The same amount of macrophages Raw264.7 was randomly divided into the control group and experimental groups (different concentrations of LBP). MTT assay was used to detect the optical density (OD) of Raw264.7 in experimental groups and control group. ELISA was used to detect the levels of the interleukin (IL)-12 and IL-10 in experimental group (LBP was 100 mg/L) and the control group. Flow cytometry was used to test the levels of the membrane protein CD16/32 and CD206 in experimental group (LBP was 100 mg/L) and the control group. The tumor mass was weighted and the volume was calculated after three weeks. The effects of LBP on the growth of subcutaneous tumor were detected. HE staining and KI-67 staining were used to detect the microscopic changes of tumor and the proliferation of the LTPA. Results The dose of 100 mg/L LBP can promote the growth of the macrophages Raw264.7 (P<0.01), and induced the high expression of CD16/32 and low expression of CD206, high secretion of IL-12 and low secretion of IL-10. The weight, volume of the tumor and the expression of KI-67 were significantly lower in experimental group than those in the con?trol group (P<0.01). The microscopic necrosis area range of tumor was larger than that of control group. Conclusion The LBP has the effect of restraining LTPA by the polarization of macrophages to M1.

A high performance liquid chromatographic method for the determination of phenoxyacetic acid and 2,4-dichlorophroxyacetic acid in environnmental waters was described.Phenoxyacetic acid and 2, 4-dichioropheroxyacetic acid in sample were enriched on Sep-Pak C18 column, and methanol was employed as elutent. The shim-pack CLC ODS (150mm×6.0mm i.d.) column was used as separation column at 40°C and eluted with methanol-water (9:1,V/V)(pH 3.0) at flow rate of 1.0mL/min,the detection wavelength was 275 nm.The recoveries of the two compounds were>98%.The detection limit was 0.04mg/L.

Objective To investigate the factors influencing the wall elasticity of carotid artery and the effect of hyperlipidemia on carotid artery elasticity in children. Methods Fifty-seven healthy children and 23 children with hyperlipidemia matched for age and sex were involved in the study. The pressure-strain elastic modulus(E?),stiffness parameter(?) and arterial compliance(AC) of carotid artery were measured by Aloka echo-tracking system.Correlations between age, blood pressure and E?,?,AC were analyzed in healthy children, respectively. Results In healthy children, age, systolic blood pressure and pulse pressure were positively correlated with E? and ?,and negatively correlated with AC.E? and ? significantly increased in children with hyperlipidemia compared to those in healthy children, and AC obviously decreased. Conclusions Hyperlipidemia might decrease the wall elasticity of carotid artery in children.Age and blood pressure are also factors affecting carotid artery elasticity in children.J Appl Clin Pediatr,2006,21(3):142-143

ObjectiveTo investigate the concentration of water fluoride and the application of water defluoridation projects in Suizhou, and to provide a basis for water improvement and prevention of the disease.MethodsCross-sectional study was carried out to investigate completely the water defluoridation projects built between 1986 and 2009 in the area under Suizhou's jurisdiction; 3 source water and terminal water samples of the projects in use were collected, respectively; 1 water sample was collected, respectively in the 3 projects with out-ofcommission or discarded water sources that used to be major water supply, for detection of fluoride, chloride, total hardness, heavy metals and other indicators.ResultsA total of 21 projects were investigated,14 projects were in normal use (66.7%),7 projects were out of order and abandoned (33.3%).Of the 14 projects normally used,13projects with water fluoride concentration ≤ 1.0 mg/L(92.9%)and 1 project with water fluoride concentration higher than 1.0 mg/L(7.1%),the concentration of water fluoride in the 7 abandoned projects was higher than 1.0 mg/L(100%).Arsenic and lead levels of all the water samples were normal. There were two water samples with iron content exceeded the standard, and one total hardness of water samples exceeded the standard in the normally used 14 peripheral water sources. One chloride content exceeded the standard, one manganese content exceeded the standard, two iron content exceeded the standard and three total hardness exceeded the standard in the seven abandoned projects.ConclusionsSome defluoridation projects are stopped using and abandoned in Suizhou, and the water fluoride exceeds the standard.

Three primer were designed based on the consevered area of the genetic of the ATCC VR-2332 strain and LV strain. And the nest RT-PCR of testing porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus were developed. The nest RT-PCR against ATCC VR-2332 strain, LV strain and B13 strain were done by this method. The DNA fragment were obtained specially from the three strains isolated from different region. The size were 430bp (430bp) , 410bp (413bp) and 410 bp (413bp) separately. But the DNA fragment were not obtained from HCV, PPV and PRV. Its sensitivity was 10-2 TCID50. It's sensitivity increased 10000 times than one step RT-PCR. It should make the method of testing porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus more sensitive, fast and accurate.

To further explore the result of bilingual teaching in pediatrics,we randomly chose 200 undergraduates of 4 class and released students'questionnaires about bilingual teaching with teaching content before and after class to assess students'understanding of bilingual teaching and analysed appraisal result. We found no significant difference of student score between students accepting bilingual teaching and not accepting the bilingual teaching, but there was difference for English tests and expression level. So we think that students can fully accept the bilingual teaching of pediatrics under the premise with selecting appropriate teaching methods and means.
