1.The clinical application of superficial circumflex iliac artery flaps.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the clinical application of pedicled superficial circumflex iliac artery (SCIA) flaps in Burns and Plastic Surgery.
METHODS19 cases with skin and soft tissue defects were repaired with the Superficial circumflex iliac artery flaps. The defects located in the hand and forearm, the lower abdomen and perineal area, the radicle area of thigh, etc. Before the SCIA flaps were transfered to the recipient areas, 15 cases with different kinds of wounds were debrided thoroughly, 3 cases with scar were removed directly. The size of the flaps ranged from 3.0 cm x 4.5 cm to 26.0 cm x 22.0 cm, and the pedical was 5 cm to 7 cm in length.
RESULTSThe flaps in the 18 cases survived completely. Skin necrosis in the distal end of the flap appeared in 1 case, and the wound healed after the second repair. The follow-up period rang from 3 to 18 months. The apperance and function of the hand or foot was satisfactory.
CONCLUSIONSBecause the pedicled SCIA flaps can be obtain conveniently and contain sufficient blood-supply, so the flap is easy to survive and the flap can be designed in a large size. We believe it is an ideal method to use this flap to repair skin and soft tissue defects located in hands, forearms, the lower abdomen and perineal areas, the radicle area of thigh and so on.

3.Operation for the treatment of radial head fracture with collapse of anterior articular surface.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate clinical outcomes of fixation for the treatment of radial head fracture with collapse of anterior articular surface.
METHODSFrom March 2006 to January 2013,17 patients with radial head fractures with collapse of anterior articular surface were analysed. According to the Mason classification, there were 12 cases with Mason type II fractures and 5 cases with Mason type III fractures. All the patients were treated with open reduction through posterolateral entrance of elbow joint and Herbert or titanium cannulated screw internal fixation.
RESULTSAll the patients were followed up, and the duration ranged from 6 to 18 months, with a mean of 11.3 months. According to the Broberg and Morrey score system, 2 patients got an excellent result, 12 good and 3 fair. There were no complications such as infection of elbow joint, nerve injury, non-union, traumatic osteoarthritis, heterotopic ossification and elbow instability. However, the postoperative activity range of elbow in the injuried side was less than that in the normal side.
CONCLUSIONRadial head fracture with collapse of anterior articular surface is easily misdiagnosed, and it can be treated with open reduction and internal fixation through posterolateral entrance.

Objective To explore the correlation between-173G/C gene polymorphism of macrophage migration inhibitory factor(MIF) and Henoch-Schonlein purpura(HSP),Henoch-Schonlein purpura nephritis(HSPN) in children in Jiangxi Province.Methods One hundred and thirty-one ethnic Han children with HSP were enrolled,including 80 children with concurrent nephritis(HSPN group) and 51 children without nephritis(HSP without nephritis group).One hundred and five healthy children were used as the healthy control group.Germline DNA was extracted from peripheral blood by Promega blood genomic DNA kit.Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP) was used for genotyping the-173G/C polymorphism of MIF.Genotype distribution and allele frequencies were obtained by direct counting.Statistical analysis was performed by using SPSS 11.5 software.Allele and genotype distribution were compared by using the chi-square test.The relative risk of allele was described by odds ratios(OR) and 95% confidence intervals(95%CI).Results Three genotypes(GG,GC,CC) were detected in MIF-173 G/C.GG,GC genotypes were detected in HSP without nephritis and healthy control group.GG,GC and CC genotypes were detected in HSPN group.Mutant genotype(37.5%) and C allele frequency(20.0%) in HSPN group were significantly higher than those in healthy control group(20.0% and 10.0%,respectively)(?2=6.964,7.400,Pa

Aim The effects of midazolam on the whole-cell sodium currents in rat sympathetic neurons were studied to explore the mechanisms where by midazolam mediates hypotension. Methods Whole-cell patch-clamp recordings were performed on enzymatically isolated rat superior cervical sympathetic neurons. We investigated the endemic situation of alveolar echinococcosis (AE) in Nileke County,Yili Prefecture,Xinjiang and its genetic diversity of Echinococcus multilocularis.Human AE cases in the county were retrospectively investigated including their location and surrounding ecological conditions.Sequence detection and analysis of nad2,cob gene fragments of AE mtDNA from patients was used to identify genotype variation.Results showed that a total of 48 AE cases were diagnosed and the first AE patient was identified in 1989 in the county.The 45.8% of AE cases were found in the recent 5 years (2011-2015) and annual prevalence was 1.7 per 100 000.The patients were distributed along the Kashgar River,particularly intensive in Wulasitai Township.The 38.6% of the patients were aged arranged 35-44 years old,64.6% were male and 95.8% were farmers and herdsmen.AE cases were confirmed further and there was only one haplotype by sequencing analysis from 11 AE clinical patients in the county.It suggests that Nileke County is AE foci,and alveolar echinococcosis with sequences conserved is an emerging disease in the county.

OBJECTIVETo study the effects of nimesulide, a selective COX-2 inhibitor, on cell viability, telomerase and PKB activities in human gastric cancer cell line SGC7901 and to explore its molecular mechanism of selective growth inhibition.
METHODSMTT assay was used to determine cell viability after incubation for 0, 12, 24, and 48 h in different concentrations (0, 25, 50, 100, 200 micro mol/L) of nimesulide and/or okadaic acid (300 nmol/L). Telomerase and protein kinase B (PKB) activities were detected using TRAP PCR-ELISA and nonradioactive IP-kinase assay.
RESULTSNimsulide caused a time and dose-dependent reduction of cell numbers of SGC7901. The telomerase and PKB activities were significantly inhibited, and the inhibition of telomerase activity was partly associated with decrease in PKB activity.
CONCLUSIONSelective COX-2 inhibitor nimesulide inhibits telomerase activity of gastric cancer cells by partly blocking the activation of protein kinase B. The results suggest an additional signaling pathway underlying the anti-cancer effect of COX-2 inhibitor.

9.Original plant identification of Dai nationality herb "Daibaijie".

OBJECTIVETo identify the original plant of "Daibaijie", commonly used Dai herb.
METHODThe literature review, morphology and anatomy, pharmacognosy, molecular biology, chemistry were used to analysis.
RESULTDaibaijie's historical scientific name, Dregea sinensis Hemsl., was mistakenly given "Daibaijie" and D. sinensis have significant differences from the distribution, morphology and anatomy, pharmacognosy, molecular biology and chemical composition. "Daibaijie" matches with the characteristics of Marsdenia tenacissima (Roxb.) Moon in Flora of China in English.
CONCLUSIONDaibaijie's original plant is M. tenacissima (Roxb.) Moon. The description and illustration of M. tenacissima (Roxb.) Moon in Flora of China in China are wrong. The illustration of M. tenacissima in Flora of China in English is wrong too.

10.Effect of different substrate static loading on α-SMA expression of rabbit myofibroblasts(protomyofibroblasts)

Objective To exert different substrate strain stimulation on rabbit myofibroblasts (MFs) (proto-) at different differentiation stages so as to study the variation of α-SMA expression. MethodsBy implanting heterologous protein into rabbits’ peritoneal cavity, 5 d and 7 d MFs (proto-) were obtained and cultured on the elastic substrates. Strain of 0%-3% and 3%-6% as well as strain of 0%-6% were applied by substrate static stretch. Results α-SMA expression was not found in 3 d MFs (proto-), while α-SMA expression could be detected in 5-7 d MFs (proto-), and α-SMA expression was significantly enhanced in 10-15 d MFs (proto-) (P<0.01). Under the two loading modes, α-SMA expression was both significantly improved, and higher α-SMA expression was presented under sectioned loading. Conclusionsα-SMA expression of MFs(proto-) is increased after the substrate static stretch in response to different loading modes, which suggests that mechanical factors can play an important role in the process of MFs differentiation and wound healing response.
