Abstract: Objective To investigate the antibacterial action and skin sensitization by percutaneous administration of lavender essential oil (LEO), providing a basis for its antibacterial application of percutaneous administration. Methods The disk diffusion method was used to evaluate the antibacterial effect of LEO on five types of bacteria, and to measure its minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC); The effect of LEO on guinea pig skin irritation was observed by topical application, and its allergic reaction and allergic rate were evaluated; the levels of IgA, IgG, and IgE in the supernatant of serum and spleen tissue sensitized with dimethylbenzene and smeared with LEO were determined by the enzyme-linked immunoassay (ELISA), and the antibacterial ability, skin sensitization, and inflammation of LEO were comprehensively evaluated. Results The antibacterial circle experiment showed that LEO had an inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus epidermidis, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus, and Propionibacterium acnes; the antibacterial ability from strong to weak was Staphylococcus Epidermidis (8.25 mg/mL), Escherichia coli (15.00 mg/mL), Candida albicans (16.31 mg/mL), Staphylococcus aureus (18.00 mg/mL), Propionibacterium acnes (20.78 mg/mL). The percutaneous administration of LEO did not cause skin sensitization and inflammatory reaction in guinea pigs. Compared with the blank group, the effect of topical LEO application on the weight of the guinea pig's spleen is not statistically significant (P>0.05), and the effect on the levels of IgA, IgE, IgG in the serum and spleen tissue of guinea pigs is not statistically significant (P>0.05). Conclusions LEO has a certain antibacterial effect on five common pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus epidermidis, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus and Propionibacterium acnes, and is safe for percutaneous administration. The results provide some reference for the development of LEO related products and their application in the field of dermatology.

Objective To investigate the role of RhoA /Rho-kinase pathway in rat models of left heart disease-as-sociated pulmonary hypertension ( PH-LHD) .Methods Twenty male SD rats (3-4 week-old, 90-100 g) were randomly divided into two groups (10 rats in each group):the group C ( control group) with sham operation, and group H ( pulmo-nary arterial hypertension) .The rat model of left heart disease-associated pulmonary hypertension was established by supra-coronary aortic banding in the group H, and the sham surgery was applied for the rats in the group C ( The titanium clip was fixed at the mediastinal tissue adjacent to the artery rather than the ascending aorta). On day 60 after the operation, the cardiac functions, including right ventricular systolic pressure and pulmonary artery pressure were evaluated. After that, all rats were sacrificed and treated with cardiopulmonary lavage in vivo until the lung became white. Then the left lung tissues were fixed in 4%paraformaldehyde for pathological observation while the right lung tissues were frozen for mRNA detec-tion.Results Compared with the group C, both ventricular systolic pressure and pulmonary artery pressure in the group H were increased significantly (P<0.01).Pathological data demonstrated that the pulmonary artery walls in H group were much thicker than that in the group C.Moreover, vascular wall hypertrophy index in the group H was increased greatly compared with that in the group C (P<0.01).QPCR data showed that mRNA levels of Rho kinase, RhoA and ET-A R in the group H were up-regulated compared with the group C ( P<0.01) .Conclusions Rat model of left heart disease-asso-ciated pulmonary arterial hypertension can be successfully established by supracoronary aortic banding.Rho-kinase-media-ted pathway may contribute to the pathogenesis and progress of left heart disease-associated pulmonary arterial hypertension.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate imaging and audiology features of temporal bone and analyze the classification and prevalence of inner ear abnormalities in children with sensorineural hearing loss.
METHOD:
Children who were diagnosed with sensorineural hearing loss were examined by high resolution CT and the inner ear fluid of MRI. And each chart was retrospectively reviewed to determine the imaging and audiology features.
RESULT:
There were 125 patients(232 ears) found with inner ear malformation in 590 children with SNHL. About 21.71% of the inner ear malformation occurred in severe and profound hearing loss ears, and 12.85% occurred in r moderate hearing loss ears. The inner ear malformation rate in normal hearing ears were 13.59%.
CONCLUSION
CT and MRI examinations of temporal bone are important diagnostic tools to indentify inner ear malformations. Inner ear malformations are almost bilateral and hearing loss are profoud. Cochleo-vestibular malformations and large vestibular aqueduct are the 2 most frequent deformities. Among the children with SNHL, deformity rate in the severe and profound hearing loss ears is higher than that in moderate hearing loss ear. Inner ear malformations can exist in people with normal hearing.

Objective To explore the change of glyoxalase I in type 2 diabetic ocular muscles palsy (DOMP) and its associations with advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP) and oxidative stress. Methods 58 DOMP patients, 50 T2DM and 30 normal controls were enrolled in this study. Levels of blood lipids, fasting blood glucose, hemoglobin A1c, insulin, serum glyoxalase I, AOPP, malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) were measured. Homeostasis model assessment was performed to evaluate the status of insulin resistance (IR). Results Levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, SOD and T-AOC were positively correlated with glyoxalase I and inversely associated to AOPP. Levels of triglycerides , low-density lipoprotein cholesterol , fasting blood glucose , hemoglobin A1c , IR and MDA were negatively correlated with glyoxalase I and positively related to AOPP. AOPP had an inverse association with glyoxalase I (r = -0.823, P < 0.001). Multivariate regression analysis showed that serum levels of glyoxalase I (Sβ = 0.554) and AOPP (Sβ= -0.469) were influencing factors of groups. Conclusion Serum glyoxalase I levels were significantly decreased in DOMP and correlated with AOPP and levels of oxidative stress , which suggest that glyoxalase I could play crucial roles on the development of DOMP.

Objective To investigate the effects of advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP) in type 2 diabetic ocular muscles palsy (DOMP). Methods 58 DOMP patients and 50 type 2 diabetes patients were included in the research. Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), blood glucose (FPG), fasting insulin (FINS) and triglycerides (TG), total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL) were measured and recorded. Homeostasis model assessment was performed to evaluate the status of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), basal insulin secretion (HOMA-β) and the insulin sensitivity index (ISI). Serum AOPP was measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. Unconditional logistic regression model was used to evaluate the influencing factors of DOMP. Results The DOMP group showed higher levels of plasma AOPP, TG, LDL, FPG, FINS, HbA1c and HOMA-IR, but lower levels of HDL, HOMA-β and ISI than those of the T2DM group. Unconditional logistic regression analysis revealed that AOPP was an independent risk factors for DOMP (OR =3.01, P = 0.002). Conclusion AOPP may be involved in the pathogenesis of DOMP. AOPP could be a useful indicator for monitoring the development of DOMP and for evaluating its severity.
