Objective To investigate influence of hyperlipidemia in parents on plasma lipid level, blood pressure, body mass index(BMI) and waist circumference(WC)of their children. Methods Eighty children whose parents had been with hyperlipidemia(Group A) and 893 children whose parents had been normal plasma lipid levels(Group B) were studied.BMI,systolic pressure(SP),diastolic pressure(DP),WC,plasma triglyceride(TG),cholesterol(CH),high density lipoprotein-cholesterol(HDL-c),low density lipoprotein-cholesterol(LDL-c)of two groups were measured and compared. Results The levels of BMI,TG,TCH,LDL-c,SP,and DP had a increasing trend in group A compared to those of group B.HDL-c in group A had a decreasing trend compared to that of group B.But only the increase of BMI is significant(P

Objective To investigate effects of different doses of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) on vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression in fetal mouse osteoblasts. Methods Calvaria osteoblasts of fetal mice of 19 days were cultured. The effects of rhBMP-2 at different doses and different action times on VEGF expression patterns in fetal mouse osteoblasts were observed with reverse transcrip- tion-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Western blot staining. Results In the present study,RT-PCR detected a steady expression of VEGF mRNA in the control fetal mouse osteoblasts. The levels of VEGF mRNA increased in an apparent biphasic manner with a maximum stimulation (about 2-fold above the control,P<0.05 ) in both VEGF mRNA species observed at 300 ng/mL of rbBMP-2.After 48 h of rhBMP-2 treatment, the VEGF mRNA levels approached those in the control. The VEGF mRNA levels appeared to be biphasic in rhBMP-2-treated cultures, showing peak induction at 3 and 24 h and remaining elevated at 48 b.Compared with the individual control value at each time point,an apparent maximum increase (about 2.5-fold above the control,P<0.05) occurred at 6 h.The second peak induction, about 2-fold above that in the control, occurred at about 36 h.Conclusions The expression of VEGF mRNA is steady in the control fetal mouse osteoblasts.RhBMP-2 can promote the expression of VEGF in dose-dependent and time-dependent manners.

Induced the mouse embryonic stem(ES)cells into neural cells on silk fibroin via the improved 4-/4+ RA method to explore the effect of the silk fibroin to the ES-derived neurons' growth, adherence and differentiation.Suspended the ES cells into EBs and then transferred them to three different substrates-coated 35 mm dishes including gelatin,Bombyx mori silk fibroin(SF) and Tussah silk fibroin(TSF) to identify the adherence and proportion of ES cells-derived neurons under these three substrates. The results showed that the EBs adhered to the gelatin and TSF are faster than to the SF.The average adhesive rate on gelatin and TSF are 90.3% and 84.4% respectively, and only 38.5% on SF,all the proportion of ?-Ⅲ-Tubulin positive cells is approximately 40%.It may provide important experimental information for tissue engineering,in which ES cells-derived neuron cells and silk fibroin materials are scaffolds, and also offer a source for cell therapy research of neurodegenerative disease.

Bone xenograft bone for the treatment of bone defect is one of the current research focus, which has advantages of extensive sources, low cost, simple preparation method. While the process of single bone xenograft bone in repairing bone defect is very long, and the clinical outcome is not satisfactory. The main problems focus on formation of bone and vascularization. Reconstituted bone xenograft combined with cells and xenogenic bone material could promote vascularization and bone fusion in vivo, thus achieve a clinical effect of autogenous bone in repairing bone defect.

Background One of the features of the pathogenesis of primary angle-closure glaucoma(PACG) is anterior synechia of peripheral iris.Goniosynechialysis and combination of phacoemulsification and goniosynechialysis have been applied for the treatment of the disease recently, but the selection of operative types has great impact on clinical efficacy. Objective This study was to investigate the long-term efficacy of goniosynechialysis and combination of phacoemulsification and goniosynechialysis for the management of chronic PACG.Methods A non-randomized clinical controlled trial was designed. This clinical trial complied with Declaration of Helsinki and was approved by Medical Ethic Committee of Nanjing Medical University.Written informed consent was obtained from each patient. One hundred and ten eyes of 110 patients with chronic PACG were assigned to the goniosynechialysis group and combined operative group from March,2008 to February,2011 in Wuxi People's Hospital.180° goniosynechialysis was performed on 34 patients in the goniosynechialysis group, and phacoemulsifieation +intraocular lens (IOL) implantation + goniosynechialysis were carried out in 78 patients of the combination operative group. All the patients were followed-up for 2 years.Vision acuity, intraocular pressure (IOP),anterior chamber depth(ACD),unltrasound biomicroscopy and perimetry were recorded and compared between before and after operation. Results No significant difference was found in vision acuity between preoperation and postoperative 2 years in the goniosynechialysis group ([0.65 ± 0.15] vs.[0.45 ± 0.15]) (t =1.57,P>0.05),but in the combination operative group, the vision acuity was significantly different between the before and after operation ([0.25±0.15] vs.[0.85 ±0.05]) (t =9.12,P<0.001).The lOPs at 2 years after operation were (14.2±4.1) mmHgand(13.7±4.8) mmHg,respectively in the goniosynechialysis group and combination operative group and were significantly lower than(47.2 ±6.3) mmHg and(46.9±7.0) mmHg before operation(t =4.95,P<0.001 ;t=5.03,P<0.001).The ACD values in the goniosynechialysis group and combination operative group were(3.38±0.02)mm and (3.54±0.03) mm 2 years after operation, which were significantly increased in comparison with (1.33 ±0.24)mm and (1.56±0.37) mm before operation(t=7.65,P<0.001;t=6.76,P<0.001).Conclusions Both combination of phacomulsification with goniosynechialysis or 180° goniosynechialysis are effective for the treatment of PACG.Suitable operation should be alternated depending on the indicators of PACG patients.

Objective:To investigate the therapeutic efficacy of double-J catheter in treatment of renal tuberculosis(TB)and in rescuing the structure and function of the kidney.Methods:Thirty-four patients with renal TB(22 combined with single side hydronephrosis)were divided into 2 groups randomly.Group A were treated with antituberculous therapy and group B with antituberculous therapy combined with pre-treatment with double-J catheter. All 34 patients were followed up for 3 months and were re-examined.Results:The results of B ultrasound, intravenous urogram(IVU),CT and isotope nephrogram were comparable between the 2 groups before treatment, and the results were significantly different between the two groups after 3 months'drug treatment(P

OBJECTIVETo investigate the difference in the CD4+T lymphocytes activation between long term non progressors (LTNP) and typical progressors (TP) of HIV-1 infected patients.
METHODSTwenty-four HIV-1 infected patients and 15 heathy control adults were tested and flow cytometry was used to detect the activation marker CD38 and CD4 count in blood samples taken from the patients and control. bDNA method was used to test the virus load in the plasma of patients.
RESULTSThe activation of CD4+T cells was positively correlated with virus load and negatively correlated with CD4 counts. Compared with normal controls, the activation of CD4+T cells was obviously increased in TP patients but not obviously changed in LTNP patients.
CONCLUSIONCompared with healthy controls, the activation of CD4+T cells in LTNP did not obviously increase. This maybe partially accounts for LTNP patients keeping a good state for a long time.
