4.The CT findings of endobronchial spread in lung adenocarcinoma

Objective To analyze the CT findings of endobronchial spread in lung adenocarcinoma. Methods The CT findings of 15 lung adenocarcinomas or bronchioloalveolar carcinomas with endobronchial spread were reviewed,the distribution and the progression of the spread were evaluated.Results All of the primary tumors were consolidation form.The spread lesions distributed in one side of the lung or both sides along the bronchus.The pleural surface was spared.The CT findings of the spread included centrilobular nodules(n=5),tree-in-bud(n=7),acinar nodules(n=2),ground-glass opacities(n=10)and air- space consolidations(n=13)in the first CT examination.5 cases of the spread lesions only presented centrilobular nodules(single form)and 10 cases presented several appearances(complex form).All of the cases were diagnosed as tuberculosis or pneumonia,and antituberculotic or antibiotic therapy was taken with no effect.The follow-up CT scans showed progression in all cases,and the spread lesions with single form became multiple consolidations.The spread lesions with complex form deteriorated faster than the single one. Conclusion Although the CT findings of the endobronchial spread of the lung adenocarcinoma is specific, the clinical history and laboratory examination also are important for the differential diagnosis with tuberculosis and other infectious diseases.
5.Clinical implication of urinary protein markers in diabetic nephropathy and interventional effects of Chinese herbal medicine.

In clinic, some urinary protein makers can dynamically and noninvasively reflect the degree of renal tubular injury in patients with diabetic nephropathy (DN). These urinary biomarkers of tubular damage are broadly divided into two categories. One is newfound, including kidney injury molecule-1 (Kim-1), neutrophil getatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), liver-type fatty acid-binding protein (L-FABP) and cystatin C (CysC); the other one is classical, including beta2 microglobulin (beta2-MG), retinal binding protein (RBP) and N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminidase (NAG). It is reported that, the increases in urinary protein markers are not only closely related to the damage of tubular epithelial cells in DN patients, but also can be ameliorated by the treatment with Chinese herbal compound preparations or Chinese herbal medicine. Recently, although urinary proteomics are used in the protein separation and identification, the traditional associated detection of urinary protein markers is more practical in clinic. At present, it is possible that the associated detection of urinary biomarkers of glomerular and tubular damages may be a feasible measure to reveal the clinical significance of urinary protein markers in DN patients and the interventional effects of Chinese herbal medicine.

7.Characteristic of urinary protein spectrum in patients with stage III diabetic nephropathy and its regression analysis with traditional Chinese medicine symptom.

To analyze the characteristic of urinary protein spectrum in patients with stage III diabetic nephropathy (DN) and its compliance with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)symptom, for the sake of providing a basis for clarifying the rules of TCM syndrome differentiation in DN. Adopting the traditional epidemiological retrospective method, thirty-eight TCM syndromes and urinary protein with medium or low molecular weight, as well as urinary enzyme, including 24 h urinary protein (Upro), urinary albumin( UAlb), urinary retinal binding protein( URBP), urinary cystatin C (UCysC), urinary N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminidase (UNAG), were collected from 108 patients with stage III DN, and a multiple factor regression analysis between them was conducted. As the results, the levels of Upro, UAlb, URBP, UCysC, and UNAG were increased in 108 patients with stage III DN. Qi-Yin deficiency type was the major type. The level of UAlb in patients with Qi-Yin deficiency type was significantly higher than those without Qi-Yin deficiency type (P < 0.05). The elevation of Upro with the factors as swift digestion with rapid hungering, lassitude and lack of strength, weakness of waist and knees was complied, the elevation of UA1b with the factors as dry mouth with desire to drink, the elevation of URBP with the factors as numbness of extremities, shortness of breath, the elevation of UCysC with the factors as clear urine in large amounts, and the elevation of UNAG with the factors as frequent micturition, were complied respectively. In conclusion, for 108 stage III DN patients. The increase in urinary protein spectrum including UAlb, URBP, UCysC, and UNAG is the major characteristic. Shen and Pi are the major organs related to the appearance of urinary protein; Pi-Shen deficiency is the basic pathogenesis. The level of UAlb is taken as one of the objective syndrome factors for Qi-Yin deficiency type. The levels of UNAG and UCysC are possibly the objective syndrome factors for Shen-Qi deficiency type.

8.Osthole enhances doxorubicin-induced apoptosis in p53-wildtype prostate cancer cells by down-regulating SIRT1 expression

AIM:To investigate the effect and mechanism of osthole on increasing the cytotoxicity of doxorubi -cin(DOX)to prostate cancer cells.METHODS:MTT assay was performed to evaluate the viability of LNCaP cells trea-ted with osthole and DOX.The protein expression of silent information regulator 1(SIRT1),p53,acetylated p53 and Pu-ma,as well as release of cytochrome C and activation of caspase-9 and caspase-3 in the LNCaP cells treated with osthole and DOX were determined by Western blot.The apoptosis of the LNCaP cells treated with osthole and DOX was analyzed by flow cytometry.RESULTS:Osthole significantly increased the cytotoxicity of DOX against p 53-wildtype prostate cancer cell line LNCaP.Osthole significantly inhibited the expression of SIRT 1 in the LNCaP cells.Transfection with SIRT1 plas-mid decreased the cytotoxicity of osthole and DOX co-treatment against LNCaP cells.Combination with osthole and DOX significantly induced the over-expression and acetylation of p53.Transfection with p53 siRNA significantly decreased the synergistic effect of osthole on cytotoxicity of DOX-treated LNCaP cells.Combination with osthole and DOX significantly in-duced the release of cytochrome C into the cytoplasm from mitochondria,followed by activation of caspase-9 and its down-stream molecule caspase-3,thus leading to cell apoptosis in the LNCaP cells.CONCLUSION:Osthole promotes the p53-dependent apoptosis in DOX-treated prostate cancer LNCaP cells by down-regulating the expression of SIRT1.

10.Association between sugar-sweetened beverage consumption and physical fitness index among college students

Objective:
To understand the association between sugar sweetened beverage consumption with physical fitness index among college students, so as to provide a reference for the improvement and intervention of college students physical fitness.
Methods:
From September to December 2021, a total of 5 520 college students from universities in Jilin, Anhui, Jiangxi, Xinjiang, and Shanghai, were surveyed with sugar sweetened beverage consumption and physical fitness using stratified cluster sampling. One way ANOVA and Logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the association between sugary drink consumption and physical fitness index (PFI).
Results:
The frequencies of sugar-sweetened beverage consumption among college students were 10.3% , 67.2%, 13.9% , and 8.6% for 0, 1-3, 4-5, and ≥ 6 times/week, respectively. The differences in waist circumference, grip strength, standing long jumping, sit and reach, 50-meter running, and 1 000/800 meter running performance were statistically significant among college students with varying sugar-sweetened beverage consumption ( F =8.67, 7.22, 11.20, 13.47, 3.98, 2.86 , P <0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that those who had sugary drinks 4-5 times/week, ≥ 6 times/week had a higher risk of low PFI compared to those who reported no sugary drinks ( OR =1.48, 1.56, P <0.05). With respect to gender, the risk of low PFI was also higher among male students who consumed sugary drinks ≥6 times/week ( OR =2.01, P <0.05), while there was no significant difference among female students.
Conclusion
Sugar-sweetened beverage consumption is negatively associated with the physical fitness index among college students with significant gender differences. College students, especially males, should be targeted to improve health literacy, reduce the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages, so as to improve physical fitness.
