Objective To investigate the expression of CD26 (dipeptidyl peptidase 4) in the kidney tissues of diabetic rats and the effects of mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) on the renal CD26 expression. Methods Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups:normal control group (NC group,n=7),diabetic model group (DM group,n=7) and MMF-treated group (MMF group,n=7).Wistar rats were fed with high-sucrose-high-fat diet and injected with streptozotocin into abdominal cavity to induce diabetes.Sixteen weeks later, blood glucose (BG),blood urea nitrogen (BUN),serum creatinine (Scr),renal hypertrophy index (kidney weight]body weight) and 24 hour urinary protein (24Upro) were measured. The number of CD37CD4+ T cells in renal tissues were measured through flow cytometry. The expression of CD26 in kidney was examined by using Western blotting and immunohistochemistry. Results Compared with NC group,BG,BUN,Scr,kidney weight/body weight,24Upro were significantly increased in DM group (P < 0.05).Except BG and kidney weight] body weight, the above-mentioned parameters were lower in MMF group compared with that in DM group (P < 0.05).Intrarenal CD37CD4+ T cells were significantly up-regulated in DM group compared with that in NC group (P < 0.01).CD26 in renal tissue was mainly expressed in T lymphocytes of renal interstitium.CD26 expression in DM group was significantly higher than that in NC group, and also higher than that in MMF group (P < 0.05).In DM group,CD26+ T lymphocytes infiltration of renal interstitium was positively correlated with 24Upro (r2=0.770,P < 0.05).Conclusions CD26 is related with diabetic nephropathy.MMF maybe inhibit T lymphocytes infiltration to reduce the expression of CD26 in renal interstitium, thus protecting the kidney function.

Objective To explore the causes of postoperative recurrence in patients of nodular goiter, the selection of method for reoperation and the postoperative complications. Methods The clinical data of 278 nodular goiter patients admitted in the first affiliated hospital of Harbin Medical University between 2001 and 2008 were analyzed retrospectively, including the methods and complications for first operation and reoperation. Results In the first operation,79 eases received simple eminectomy and 167 cases received partial lobectomy, accounted for 28.4% and 60.1%,respectively. Unilateral subtotal lobectomy plus contralateral eminectomy was performed in 23 cases and subtotal thyroideetomy was conducted in 9 cases, accounted for 8.3% and 3.2%,respectively. Postoperative complications occurred in one hundred and twenty-three cases, the incidence being 8.2% (23/278). Unilateral subtotal Iobectomy plus contralateral partial iobectomy was reperformed in 37 cases and bilateral subtotal thyroidectomy in 241 cases. Postoperative complications occurred in 12 cases, the incidence being 4.2%(12/278). No postoperative recurrence of nodular goiter was found. Conclusions Recurrence of nodular goiter is closely associated with the scope of previous surgical treatment, and correct operative manipulation may reduce the recurrent rate.

OBJECTIVETo analyze effects of fracture of processus styloideus ulnae on prognosis in the treatment of distal radial fracture of type C according to AO classification.
METHODSThis was a retrospective case-control study, and the information was got ten through case evaluation and follow-up, including sex, age, patient satisfaction, Gartland & Werley score and radiographic score. There were 76 patient treated with open reduction and plate fixation in People's Hospital Affiliated to Peking University from July 2006 to July 2011. All the patients were divided into two groups: no combination with fracture of processus styloideus ulnae (group A, 56 cases), combination with fracture of processus styloideus ulnae (group B, 20 cases). The patients in group A and B were treated with open reduction and internal fixation; however the fracture of processus styloideus ulnae was not fixed. The indexes such as clinical data, bone grafting, joint movement, Gartland & Werley score and radiographic score were compared between two groups.
RESULTSThe ulnaris pain of patients in group B was more obvious than that in group A. The local VAS, palmar and dorsal flexion degree of wrist joint, motion VAS, patients satisfaction score, radial and ulnar deviation degree, pronation and supination of forearm degree, Gartland & Werley score and radiographic score were separately 0.1 ± 0.1, (51.1 ± 1.9)°, (60.2 ± 1.9)°, 0.6 ± 0.1 (23.1 ± 0.9)°, (28.7 ± 1.3)° (81.5 ± 2.6)°, (68.2 ± 2.7)° 1.9 ± 0.3, 89.6 ± 12.3 in group A; and separately 0.3 ± 0.3, (51.4 ± 2.3)°, (66.6 ± 1.7)°, 0.5 ± 0.2, (24.5 ± 2.0)°, (26.9 ± 1.8)°, (80.3 ± 2.5)°, (70.3 ± 3.7)°, 1.2 ± 0.4, 92.5 ± 7.5 in group B; there were no statistical differences in above indexes between two groups.
CONCLUSIONWhether the distal radial fracture with a concomitant unrepaired ulnar styloid fracture or not exerts no influence on mainly outcomes including function, radiography and motion of the wrist.

Chinese Journal of Biotechnology 2002;18(3):373-376
Orthogonal combination design was adopted in examining the Spirulina platensis (S. platensis) yield and the influence of four factors (Se content, Se-adding method, S content and NaHCO3 content) on algae growth. The results showed that Se content, Se-adding method and NaHCO3 content were key factors in cultivation conditions of Se-enriched S. platensis with the optimal combination being Se at 300 mg/L, Se-adding amount equally divided into three times and NaHCO3 at 16.8 g/L. Algae yield had a remarkable correlation with OD560 and floating rate by linear regression analysis. There was a corresponding relationship between effects of the four factors on algae yield and on OD560, floating rate too. In conclusion, OD560 and floating rate could be served as yield-forming factors.
