OBJECTIVETo investigate the mechanism and the accelerating effect of rhEGF and rhbFGF on wound healing.
METHODSTwelve New Zealand rabbits with 72 incised wounds on ventral side of 24 ears were randomly divided into two therapeutic groups (rhEGF of 10 ug/cm(2) and rhbFGF of 100 AU/cm(2)) and a control group (1% silver sulfadiazine cream, SD-Ag). The general conditions of the wound healing was observed grossly. Biopsies were harvested at different time points for the pathomorphological examination, the electron microscopic examination, and for assessment of integrin beta1 mRNA expression by in situ hybridization.
RESULTSThe expressions of integrin beta 1 mRNA in two therapeutic groups were significantly higher than that of control group. The quality of the wound healing was improved in therapeutic group with its healing time shortened when compared with that in control group (P < 0.05). There was an obvious difference in the number of fibroblasts and capillary gemmules between the therapeutic and control groups (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe wound healing and quality could be improved by both rhEGF and rhbFGF, but rhbFGF seemed better to be employed during the early and middle stages of the wound repair for the growth of granulation tissue, while rhEGF should be applied at the late stage of wound repair to accelerate the re-epithelialization of the wound. Combined application of rhEGF with rhbFGF according to time effect could be more beneficial to the wound repair.

OBJECTIVETo determine the efficacy and safety of a diuretic agent, frusemide, combined with doxazosin in the treatment of nocturia in patients with benign prostate hyperplasia / lower urinary tract symptoms (BPH/LUTS).
METHODSSixty-four BPH/LUTS patients with nocturia were equally randomized into two groups, one treated with doxazosin (4 mg/d), and the other with frusemide (40 mg/d) and doxazosin (4 mg/d), given 6 h before sleep, both for 4 weeks. Urine volume, IPSS, QOL, serum electrolytes, plasma osmolality were recorded and compared between the two groups before and after the treatment.
RESULTSCompared with the doxazosin group, the frusemide plus doxazosin group showed significantly reduced nocturia frequency (P < 0.01), increased daytime urine output (P < 0.01), decreased nocturia urine output (P < 0.01), unchanged total urine output (P > 0.05), improved IPSS and QOL (P < 0.05, P < 0.01), but with no remarkable differences in the levels of serum sodium, potassium, chlorine, and osmotic pressure (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONFour-week treatment with frusemide plus doxazosin was safe and effective for nocturia in patients with BPH/LUTS.

OBJECTIVE: To prepare and develop a GDH-2 air sampling tube for detecting 12 kinds of chlorobenzenes(CBs) in workplace air and to establish a matching detecting method. METHODS: The self-developed GDH-2 air sampling tube was filled with ion exchange resin and activated carbon, and the mass ratio was 10 ∶1. The GDH-2 air sampling tube was used to collect 12 kinds of CBs with coexistence of gaseous and aerosol in the air. After elution with toluene, they were separated on a chromatographic column and determined by microcell electron capture detector. RESULTS: The quantitative detecting range of the method was 0.51×10~(-3)-6 000.00 mg/L, with the correlation coefficients greater than 0.999 4. The minimum detection concentration was 0.02-61.99 μg/m~3, and the minimum quantitative concentration was 0.05-206.62 μg/m~3. The average desorption efficiency was 90.8%-104.0%. The within-run relative standard deviation(RSD) was 1.0%-5.7%, and the between-run RSD was 3.0%-7.3%. The samples can be stored at room temperature for at least 26 days. CONCLUSION: The self-developed GDH-2 air sampling tube and its matching measuring method can be used for the collection and determination of the 12 kinds of CBs in the air of workplace.
