OBJECTIVE:
To summarize the surgical treatment of total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC).
METHODS:
We retrospectively analyzed 49 patients with TAPVC as follows: 37 patients with supra-cardiac type in which 35 received anastomoses between the rear wall of the left atrium and the common pulmonary vein and the other 2 received anastomoses between the rear edge of the left atrium roof and the common pulmonary vein; another 12 patients with cardiac type who were incised the upper edge of coronary sinus, connected the common junction of pulmonary veins with the left atrium to form a new left atrium, and repaired the atrial septal defect with a pericardial patch.
RESULTS:
Forty-six patients recovered and 3 patients died. Thirty-eight patients were followed-up from 3 months to 8 years. The rest patients got fluent pulmonary vein drainage and their heart function resumed to NYHA I.
CONCLUSION
TAPVC patients should be operated on immediately at definite diagnosis. The fluency of the common pulmonary vein-left atrium anastomoses and proper postoperative care can ensure a satisfactory outcome.

3.Modeling of medical equipment requirements for helicopter evacuation and rescue team based on AnyLogic

Objective To provide references for reasonable equipping of airborne medical equipment oriented to different tasks by constructing a medical equipment requirement model for the helicopter evacuation and rescue team.Methods Relevant basic data were collected and organized on time for routine and emergency medical treatment and elementary medical equipment requirements for types of medical treatment.AnyLogic multi-agent modeling was used to established a medical equipment requirement model for the helicopter evacuation and rescue team,with the casualty,equipment and medical personnel as the agent modules and the logical relationship-based access rules between the agents.An example was taken with a Z-8 helicopter transformed into an ambulance platform to transport the rescue team and casualties,in which a variety of evacuation tasks with multi combinations of light and serious casualties were simulated and the model developed was used to record and analyze the data on waiting time for medical treatment,completion rate,personnel utilization rate and equipment requirement during 100 times of simulation flight.Results The model developed could provide generalized medical equipment allocation programs for the helicopter evacuation and rescue team to complete a variety of evacuation tasks in terms of electronic device,treatment equipment,auxiliary instrument and medical consumables.Conclusion The model developed facilitates rational allocation of medical equipment for the helicopter evacuation and rescue team.[Chinese Medical Equipment Journal,2024,45(5):28-33]
4.Galectin-1 knockdown inhibits proliferation, migration, invasion and promotes apoptosis of lung adenocarcinoma cells in vitro.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the effect of galectin-1 on biological behaviors of lung adenocarcinoma cells and the underlying mechanism.
METHODS:
The expression levels of galectin-1 mRNA were detected in 8 pairs of lung adenocarcinoma tissues and adjacent normal tissues and in lung adenocarcinoma cell lines A549 and H1299 and normal bronchial epithelial cell line BEAS-2b using qRT-PCR. The effect of galectin-1 knockdown by RNA interference on the proliferation, invasion and migration abilities and apoptosis of lung adenocarcinoma cells were examined using CCK8 assay, Transwell assay, scratch assay and flow cytometry. Western blotting was performed to detect the expressions of apoptosis-related proteins BAX, BCL-2, and caspase-3 and the proteins involved in the AKT and ERK pathways.
RESULTS:
The mRNA expression of galectin-1 was significantly increased in lung cancer tissues and lung adenocarcinoma cell lines (P < 0.05). In lung adenocarcinoma cells, galectin-1 knockdown significantly inhibited cell proliferation, migration and invasion and obviously increased cell apoptosis rate (P < 0.05), causing also significant reduction of the phosphorylation level of ERK signaling pathway (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSION
Galectin-1 knockdown inhibits proliferation, migration, and invasion and promotes apoptosis of lung adenocarcinoma cells, and this effect is mediated probably by inhibition of the phosphorylation levels of the ERK pathway.

5.Ecological agriculture: future of agriculture for Chinese material medica.

The ecological agriculture of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is generally acknowledged as the most advanced agricultural mode. However, it's still a doubt whether ecological agriculture could be widely applied in TCM agriculture. In this study, we first analyze both the differences and relationships between ecological and organic agriculture, which suggesting that ecological agriculture does not need all the inputs as traditional agriculture. After introducing the situation of ecological agriculture from all across the world, we analyze the differences and characteristics between ecological and chemical agricultures. Considered with the big challenge caused by chemical agriculture, we pointed out that ecological agriculture could definitely replace chemical agriculture. Last but not the least, combined with the situation and problems of Chinese agriculture, we analyze the distinctive advantages of TCM ecological agriculture from 3 aspects as its unique quality characteristics, its unique habitat requirements in production and its unique application and market characteristics, respectively. In conclusion, ecological agriculture is the straight way of TCM agriculture.
