Objective To evaluate the efficacy of laparoscopic treatment with one trocar for children with indirect inguinal hernia. Methods From May 2007 to December 2008,70 children with indirect inguinal hernia underwent laparoscopic high ligation of hernia sac by using a modified epidural needle in our hospital. Among the patients,56 children aged from 6 months to 3 years,10 aged 4 to 7,and 4 aged 7 to 13. Nineteen of the children had the disease in both sides, while the other 51 had unilateral hernia. A trocar was place into the abdominal cavity through the umbilicus with a modified epidural needle to introduce 4-0 silk suture. High ligation of the hernia was then performed, and fixed on the abdominal wall. Results The operation was successfully completed in all of the cases. The operation time ranged from 5 to 15 min in unilateral cases, and 15 to 30 min in bilateral cases. Follow-up was achieved for 3 to 21 months in this series (over 12 months in 22 cases). During the period,no recurrence was found. Conclusions Laparoscopic high ligation of inguinal hernia sac with modified epidural needle is effective for children with minimal invasion and a low recurrence rate, without leaving scars at the abdomen.
4.Chemokine receptor CXCR7 and tumor
Journal of International Oncology 2013;(6):431-433
CXCR7 is a new receptor of chemokine CXCL12 after CXCR4.The present study shows that CXCL12/CXCR7 biological axis has important influence to the development of a variety of tumors, similar to CXCL12/CXCR4 biological axis.CXCR7 is present in many kinds of tumor tissues and tumor cells widely, and plays an important role in tumor cells growth, proliferation, adhesion and migration.Restraining CXCR7 expression or blocking the CXCR7 signaling pathways may offer new strategies for the treatment of tumors.

Objective To explore the role of uncoupling protein 2 ( UCP2) in the development of hepatic fibrosis and its molecular mechanism .Methods The CCl4-induced liver fibrosis rat model in vivo was established to observe the pathological changes of rat livers .The expression levels of UCP2 and p38 mitogen activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK) were detected by using the techniques of Western blotting , Real-time PCR and immunohistochemistry .The hepatic stellate cells ( HSC) were stimulated by CCl 4 and UCP2-specific inhibitor Genipin to mimic liver fibrosis in vitro. The expression levels of UCP2 and p38MAPK were determined by using Western blotting .Results We found that UCP2 and α-SMA expression levels increased significantly (P <0.05, n =10) in the liver of rats with CCl4-induced liver fibrosis when compared with that of the normal control rats in vivo.Similarly, the expression levels of UCP2 and p38 MAPK were up regulated (P <0.05, n=6) in CCl4-treated HSC cells in vitro. However, the expressions of UCP2 and p38 MAPK were down regulated (P <0.05, n=6) in genipin-treated HSC cells in vitro. Conclusion UCP2 is involved in liver fibrosis, and probably contributed to the activation and proliferation of hepatic stellate cells .

Objective To evaluate the effect of nerve block and nerve block combined with glycerol and fructose injection on cervicogenic headache (CEH).Methods 50 CEH patients were randomly divided into the nerve block group (n=25), received the occipital and C2 nerve block; nerve block combined with glycerol and fructose injection group (n=25), received nerve block plus glycerol and fructose injection. The pain degree (numeric rating scales, NRS) and the degree of cervical stiff measured by restriction of the range of motion of the neck (ROM) were recorded. Results NRS and ROM decreased significantly after treatment compared with the baseline in two groups ( P<0.01). NRS and ROM decreased much more in the nerve block combined with glycerol and fructose injection group than in the nerve block group ( P< 0.01).Conclusion Nerve block combined with glycerol and fructose injection is a more safe and effective method in the treatment of CEH.

Objective To study the immunogenicity, immune modulatory effects and mechanisms of mesenthymal stem ceils (MSCs) derived from the bone marrow of patients with multiple myeloma (MM).Methods The mononuclear cells from the bone marrow of MM patients were obtained and cultured.Immunophenotypes were investigated by using FACS.The levels of cytokines were determined by using enzyme linked immunosorbant assay (ELISA).The endocytosis of monocyte-derived dendritic cells (DCs) was investigated by using FACS.Moreover, the immunoregulatory ability of DCs on proliferation of T lymphocytes was detected by using mixed lymphocyte culture assay. Results MM-derived MSCs had no expression of HLA-DR and costirnulatory molecules (CD40,CD80,CD83 and CD86).MM-derived MSCs could significantly suppress proliferation of T lymphocytes in a dose-dependent manner, which could be reversed by antiTGF-β1 and anti-HGF antibodies.MM-derived MSCs inhibit the endocytosis of DCs.MM-derived MSCs could inhibit the secretion of IL-12 and significantly inhibit the function of DCs on proliferation of T lymphocytes. Conclusion MM-derived MSCs harbored low immunogenicity and immunoregulatory effect in vitro, and this effect was achieved through cytokines.
