1.Some observations on the efficacy of cytological diagnosis with the methods of fine needle aspiration (FNA), histopathology and their clinical relations
Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 2003;0(11):31-35
216 patients with thyroid pathology who had normal thyroid function were studied prospective with cytology examination by FNA method at hospital 103 from the year 2000 to 2003. Among them 69% had a compatobility between cutology and histopathology results, 27,3%no and 3,7% partly. With simple thyroid goiter diagnosed on cytology, the histopathology had defined 50% had accuracy. With a suspection of thyroid cancer as diagnosed cytologically, the histopathology had defined that 62,5% had cancer, accurately

3.Relation between history of menstrual modulation aspiration and ectopic pregnancy
Journal of Practical Medicine 2001;395(3):33-36
A study was done on 111 patients with ectopic pregnancy in the Institute of Mother and Infant Protection and Care and 111 pregnant women in the same locality. Results have shown that the history of menstrual modulation aspiration related closely with the ectopic pregnancy, especially the menstrual modulation aspiration only before the round of this pregnancy. The women with 2 or more than rounds of menstrual modulation increased the risk of ectopic pregnancy. Other factors comprised induced abortion, vulvitis and having many sexual partners

4.Aspiration for menstrual modulation and risks of ectopic pregnancy
Journal of Practical Medicine 2000;383(6):47-48
A comparison of aspiration for menstrual modulation and risks of ectopic pregnancy, number of operated ectopic pregnancy and pregnant women in 10-117 cases of delivery, 5240 cases of induced abortion and 6749 cases of aspiration for menstrual modulation and 359 cases of etopic pregnancy for the past decade has shown that the aspiration for menstrual modulation related closely with ectopic pregnancy. The other risks comprised history of induced abortion and contraceptive device implantation. It should implement the diagnosis of HCG and ultrasound before indication of Aspiration for menstrual modulation.

5.Menstrual regulating aspiration and risk of ectopic pregnancy
Journal of Practical Medicine 2000;392(12):47-48
Menstrual regulating aspiration is a procedure to induce menstruation when the women have menstrual delay of suspected pregnancy. It is indicated when the menstruation has delayed less than 14 days. In the other hand, the incidence of ectopic pregnancy has increased by 2-3 times during past decade. In comparison of history of menstrual regulating aspiration and ectopic pregnancy between married childbearing women, ectopic pregnancy-operated women and the women with intrauterine pregnancy, including 10,177 deliveries, 5240 induced abortions, 6749 menstrual regulating aspirations and 359 ectopic pregnancies, it is found that there was strong relationship between menstrual regulating aspirations and ectopic pregnancy with odd ratio of 2-4 times. However, this finding should be confirmed. Other risk factors for ectopic pregnancy are history of induced abortion and IUD insertion. Menstrual aspiration should be indicated for pregnancy that was diagnosed by HCG test and ultrasound to reduce the number of menstrual regulating aspirations

6.Clinical Characteristic of Lacrimal Ductal Cyst.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 2001;42(6):803-809
PURPOSE: Through 13 cases of lacrimal ductal cysts which were diagnosed by clinical or histopathological findings, we investigated the clinical characteristic and the effect of cyst excision on lacrimal secretion. METHODS: As a primary treatment, cyst excisions(6 cases), marsupialzations(4 cases), and needle aspirations(3 cases) were performed and their results were compared. Pre-and postoperative lacrimal secretion tests(Schirmer I & BST) were performed on 10 cases which underwent cyst excision either primarily or secondarily(due to recurrences). A biochemical analysis of cyst fluid and serum IgA level was also done on 7 cases. RESULT: There were no recurrences on 6 surgically excised cases, but 1 out of 4 cases with marsupia-lizations and all 3 cases with needle aspirations recurred and underwent cyst excisions secondarily. Two out of 10 surgically excised cases showed reduced value of postoperative lacrimal secretion tests. Cyst fluid IgA levels were higher than that of serum in all 7 cases. CONCLUSION: The higher cyst IgA level may signify the presence of an active secretory precess within cyst walls. A complete cyst excision seems to be the best treatment choice for the prevention of recurren-ces and marsupialization is also considered as an alternative treatment modality. The cyst excision itself does not seem to affect lacrimal secretion.

7.Technical Aspects of Endobronchial Ultrasound-Guided Transbronchial Needle Aspiration.
Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases 2013;75(4):135-139
Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is becoming a standard method for invasive mediastinal staging and for the diagnosis of paratracheal and peribronchial lesions. It is essential to understand the technical aspects of EBUS-TBNA to ensure safe and efficient procedures. In this review, we discuss the practical aspects to be considered during EBUS-TBNA, including anesthesia, manipulation of equipment, understanding mediastinal ultrasound images, target selection, number of aspirations needed per target, sample handling, and complications.

8.Spirituality and State Hope of Medical Social Workers.
Korean Journal of Hospice and Palliative Care 2012;15(2):88-98
PURPOSE: This study was designed to assess the relationship between spirituality and state hope of medical social workers in Korea and their correlation was studied to provide data in developing effective spiritual and hope intervention for medial social workers. METHODS: The study surveyed 102 medical social workers in Korea from September 1, 2011 to September 30, 2011. The study employed the Korean version of the State Hope Scale (SHS) and Spirituality Scales (SS). For data analysis, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and simple regression were performed using the SPSS WIN ver. 17.0. RESULTS: Spirituality scores showed a significant difference according to religion. The mean score of spirituality was 3.80/5.00 and the mean score of state hope was 6.36/8.00. Spirituality scoresand state hope scoresshowed a significant positive association (P<0.001). CONCLUSION: This study showed a significant positive association between medical social workers'spirituality and their state hope of. Future studies would be needed to further explorespirituality and state hope.

The Korean Journal of Helicobacter and Upper Gastrointestinal Research 2019;19(4):231-235
Antithrombotics are increasingly used for the management and prevention of cardiovascular diseases, and endoscopists often have to decide whether to continue or stop these medications before endoscopy. The development of novel antithrombotics, such as direct oral anticoagulants, has complicated their management before endoscopy. Although the discontinuation of anticoagulants may decrease the incidence of bleeding after endoscopic procedures, discontinuation may also lead to more serious cardiovascular complications. Although the majority of current practice guidelines recommend continuation of antithrombotics before elective endoscopy and biopsy, surveys have shown that many endoscopists do not adhere to these guidelines, probably due to legal aspirations from post endoscopic bleeding. Thus, we examined the current guidelines for the management of antithrombotics before endoscopy.

Korean Journal of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery 2015;58(8):572-575
A variety of treatment methods have been proposed for parotid sialocele. These include multiple aspirations and compression dressings, reconstruction of the duct, creation of a controlled internal fistula, superficial or total parotidectomy, radiation therapy and ductal ligation, etc. Most of these procedures are invasive with variables and often with poor success rates. This paper presents an unusual incidence of iatrogenic parotid sialocele after sialendoscopy and its management by a relatively simple, safe and effective technique, which is constituted of draining saliva into the intraoral.
