INTRODUCTION: During the global COVID-19 pandemic, health workers were found to have a higher prevalence of anxiety disorder compared to non-health workers. Anxiety disorder that occurs chronically have a 25% chance to become a major depression disorder. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study is to understand the anxiety condition and related risk factors among workers in a Balikpapan hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHOD: The design of this research used a cross sectional method that involved 279 respondents who are workers in a Balikpapan hospital. The study used SPSS version 20.0, using the chi square and Fisher’s Exact test for the bivariate analysis, and the logistic regression with enter method for the multivariate analysis. RESULTS: The study shows that using the General Anxiety Disorder 7 (GAD-7) questionnaire from 279 hospital workers, there were 10.8% with mild-, 1.45% with moderate-, and 0.4% with severe anxiety disorder. A significant relation was found between anxiety disorder and risk factors such as being a health worker with p=0.001 and a 4.8 OR adj (95% CI: 1.9-12.3), working in areas with high risk of transmitting COVID-19 with p=0.04 and a 5.1 OR adj (95% CI: 1.0-24.2), and workers who are being quarantined with p=0.001 a 10.5 OR adj (2.6-42.3) after being adjusted by age and gender variables. CONCLUSION Significant relations were found between anxiety disorder among hospital workers with risk factors such as being health workers, working in areas with high risk of transmitting COVID-19, and workers who are being quarantined. Researchers strongly advise health providers to do regular monitoring and seek moral support especially for workers who have higher risk of anxiety disorder.

A 45 year old male sought consultation in our neurology clinic with the complaint of persistent genital uncomfortable sensations and pain. After extensive investigations, there was no underlying urological or neurological disease demonstrable. He was diagnosed to have restless genital syndrome and was given pramipexole and gabapentin with significant improvement of his symptoms. Our patient suggests that pramipexol and gabapentin may be useful as treatment for restless genital syndrome.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The aims of this study were to evaluate the relationship between tinnitus and the level of anxiety and depression experienced by subjective tinnitus patients, and to determine the effect of the level of anxiety and depression to the results of tinnitus treatment. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: A total of 104 patients were included in this study. All the patients conducted Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), State Trait Anxiety Inventory 1, 2 (STAI 1, 2) to evaluate their psychometric properties. The subjective patterns of tinnitus before and after treatment were assessed through questionnaires. RESULTS: Significant correlation between THI scores and BDI, STAI 1, 2 scores were observed in the moderate and severe tinnitus group. The patients were classified into two groups depending on their THI scores, and also classified into two groups according to BDI, STAI 1, 2 results. Analysis of differences after treatment indicated significantly improved VAS scores after treatment in all groups. CONCLUSIONS: The subjective level of tinnitus is significantly related with depression and anxiety symptoms when inconvenience caused by tinnitus was moderate or over. Assessments on tinnitus after treatment appeared to have improved significantly regardless of the severity of tinnitus, level of depression or anxiety disorder.

Therefore, a comprehensive understanding of the prevalence, etiology, assessment, and treatment of anxiety is mandatory in this population. This review focused on the current knowledge of anxiety disorders in late-life highlighting the differences with that in adults.

Objective: To analyze the situation of emergency psychological intervention in an acute ammonia leakage event, and to provide reference for emergency response. Methods: In August 2020, the emergency treatment of 65 patients admitted by Zhangqiu District People's Hospital Affiliated to Jining Medical College of Shandong Province in June 2019 in the ammonia tank car leakage incident was analyzed, the psychological intervention in emergency after the incident was collected, the anxiety and depression were evaluated by symptom checklist 90 (SCL-90) , and targeted psychological intervention was implemented according to the psychological evaluation results, And analyze the intervention efficiency. Results: Among the 65 patients, there were 52 cases of ammonia stimulation reaction, 11 cases of mild poisoning and 2 cases of moderate poisoning. There were 60 cases of chest tightness and dyspnea, 11 cases of bloody sputum, 58 cases of sore throat, 43 cases of hoarseness, 28 cases of photophobia and tears, 13 cases of blurred vision, 18 cases of nausea and vomiting, and 2 cases of dry and wet rales in the lungs. The scores of somatization, depression, anxiety, hostility, phobia, paranoia and negative coping in patients with mild and moderate poisoning were higher than those in patients with stimulus response (P<0.05) . The effective rate of intervention was 98.7%. Conclusion: Emergency psychological evaluation and intervention in mass public health events are helpful to the treatment of patients.

Although generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is a common disorder with significant impairments in clinical field, little is known about exact diagnosis and differential diagnosis. The reasons of little information about diagnosis and differential diagnosis of GAD are 1) changing and vagueness of diagnostic criteria of GAD, 2) multiple medical and psychiatric co-morbidity, 3) atypical presentation of clinical symptoms, 4) patterns of treatment seeking, 5) late introduction of effective treatment modalities. However, GAD is a commonly occurring, independent mental disorder in psychiatry. Recently, the epidemiological and clinical studies on GAD is increasing. For the exact evaluation and to resolve remaining uncertainties on diagnosing the patients with generalized anxiety symptoms, the author reviewed the different diagnostic criteria, the results of epidemiological surveys, clinical characteristics, co-morbidity, differential diagnosis for the exact diagnosis of GAD.
