OBJECTIVETo assess the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of Tongjingbao optimal formula and analyze its active components.

METHODAnimals were divided into the model group, the Tongjingbao granule group and the Tongjingbao optimal formula group. The mice dysmenorrhea model was induced by oxytocin, and their content of blood calcium and MDA, NO, PGE2 in uterus were determined to assess the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of different components in Tongjingbao optimal formula and their impacts.

RESULTAll components of Tongjingbao optimal formula could extend the dysmenorrhea incubation period of mice with dysmenorrhea, reduce their average writhing time, increase the writhing inhibition rate, lessen the content of blood calcium and MDA, PGE2 in uterus, and enhance the content of NO in uterus.

CONCLUSIONAll components of Tongjingbao optimal formula have the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects, and different components show a synergistic effect in treating dysmenorrheal in many links.

OBJECTIVETo do some comparative study on anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects between the Dao-di herb and non Dao-di herb of Huangqin (the roots of Scutellaria baicalensis) and provide thinking and evidence for study on geoherbalism and clinical usage of Huangqin.

METHODThe anti-inflammatory action was assessed by auricular swelling induced by dimethylbenzene in mice and the antipyretic action was monitored by dried yeast-induced mice fever.

RESULTAll samples of both Dao-di and non Dao-di herbs of Huangqin showed antipyretic effect. The Dao-di Huangqin samples showed antipyretic effect between 61% to 53% , whereas the non Dao-di Huangqin samples between 53% to 43%. Six Dao-di Huangqin samples showed better antipyretic effect than four non Dao-di Huangqin samples. All samples of both Dao-di and non Dao-di Huangqin showed anti-inflammatory effect. Dao-di Huangqin showed anti-inflammatory effect between 73% to 54%, whereas non dao-di Huangqin between 53% to 34%. Six Dao-di Huangqin showed better anti-inflammatory effect than four non Dao-di Huangqin. In totality, results from analysis of geoherbalism showed that geoherbal production areas of Huangqin had better effect than that of the non geoherbal production areas in anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects.

CONCLUSIONBoth the Dao-di and non Dao-di Huangqin have effects of anti-inflammatory and antipyretic to a certain extent, but the efficacy of the Dao-di Huangqin surpass the non Dao-di Huangqin.

OBJECTIVETo observe antisepsis, anti-swelling, and therapeutic effects of Fuxiye (FXY), a Chinese medical lotion for external wash in treating vaginitis model rats.

METHODSThe cervicitis rat model was induced by agar plate diffusion, ear auricle swelling induced by dimethylbenzene, and chemical stimulus. The in vitro antibiotic actions of FXY were observed. Besides, its effects on the swelling and inflammation in model rats were also observed.

RESULTSFXY at 25 mg/mL could completely inhibit the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, pyogenic Streptococcus, and Streptococcus agalactiae. FXY at 50 mg/mL could completely inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans. It obviously restrained dimethylbenzene induced ear auricle swelling. It significantly alleviated cervicitis induced by chemical stiumli.

CONCLUSIONFXY showed better effects on antisepsis, anti-inflammation, and treating cervicitis.

Hydroxyethyl chitin (HECH) is a water soluble chitin derivative made by etherification of chitin, ethylene chlorohydrin was used as etherification reagent in this reaction. A novel interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) composed of HECH/PAA was prepared. The IR spectra confirmed that HECH/PAA was formed through chemical bond interaction. The sensitivity of this hydrogel to temperature and pH was studied. The swelling ratio of this hydrogel in artificial intestinal juice is much greater than that in artificial gastric juice. The IPN hydrogel exhibited a typical pH-sensitivity, and its degree of swelling ratio increased with the increase of temperature. The sustained-release drug system of Dichlofenac potassium was prepared by using HECH/PAA as the drug carrier. The release experiment showed a perfect release behavior in artificial intestinal juice. This IPN is expected to be used as a good drug delivery system of enteric medicine.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of ginkgolide nebulised inhalation in treating bronchial asthma.

METHODSAsthma patients of mild to moderate degree were randomly divided into three groups: the treated group treated by ginkgolide nebulised inhalation 10 mg/ml, twice daily, for 6 weeks in total, the positive control group, treated by cromlyn sodium nebulised inhalation 20 mg/10 ml, twice daily, for 6 weeks in total and the negative control group treated by normal saline 10 ml, twice daily, for 4 weeks in total. The changes on symptomatic scoring (Chetta' s method), pulmonary function (FEV1, PEF), serum eosinophil count, eosinophil cationic protein (ECP, determined by RIA), as well as airway response to ultrasonically nebulised distilled water (UNDW), and adverse reaction occurred in patients were observed. Results The symptomatic scorings in the treated and the positive control group were reduced from 5.1+/-2.3 and 6.0+/-2.6 to 1.6+/-1.7 and 1.6+/-1.7, respectively (both P<0.01) after 6 weeks of treatment. In the treated group, ECP was reduced from 6.7 microg/L to 4.3 microg/L (P<0.05), FEV1 and PEF were improved (P<0.05, P<0.01), while in positive control group, only improvement of FEV1 was found (P < 0.05). UNDW in the above two groups were reduced (P<0.01). Although decrease of symptomatic scoring was found in the negative control group, yet ECP, pulmonary function and airway response showed no improvement (P >0.05). Adverse reactions revealed were mainly chest stuffiness, stimulating cough, especially in the treated group, but were tolerable to most patients. Conclusion Ginkgolide has the action of fighting against asthmatic airway inflammation, which provides new means for treating bronchial asthma.

Two different salts of diclofenac, diclofenac sodium and diclofenac potassium, in tablet dosage form were tested for their bioavailability and disposition kinetics in a group of eighteen rabbits in normal and experimentally induced dehydrated conditions with a wash out period of 7 days between both stages of study. Biochemical and physiological parameters were also measured in both normal and dehydrated states. Diclofenac levels in plasma were determined using a validated reversed phase HPLC method. Primary kinetic parameters i.e. AUC(0-infinity), Cmax, Tmax and other disposition kinetics were obtained with non-compartmental procedure. Biochemical parameters i.e. packed cell volume, plasma glucose and total lipid concentration in dehydrated rabbits increased significantly. Plasma concentration of diclofenac sodium and diclofenac potassium decreased significantly in water deprived rabbits. In comparison, diclofenac potassium in normal and dehydrated state of the same group of rabbits showed a significantly increased plasma concentration when compared with diclofenac sodium.

OBJECTIVE: To observe the clinical efficacy of nasal vestibule eczema by using beclomethasone dipropionate in combination with He-Ne laser therapy. METHOD: The 200 cases of nasal vestibule eczema patients were randomly divided into treatment and control groups. The control group received the rub beclomethasone dipropionate cream treatment one time per day. The treatment group supplemented with He-Ne laser irradiation treatment on the basis of the control group on the same treatment, alsoone time per day. Then the results were analyzed. RESULT: The total effective rate was 100.0% in treatment group, while 75.0% in the control group. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Beclomethasone dipropionate cream combined with He-Ne laser irradiation therapy on nasal vestibule eczema is significant, and easily to operate, with significant anti-inflammatory, anti-itch, analgesic effects.

Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of 0.02% clobetasol propionate cream (CPC) on phimosis in prepubertal children. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data about 237 prepubertal children with phimosis present at the Outpatient Department from June 2012 to December 2015. The patients were aged 2－14 (mean 8.6) years, all treated by topical application of 0.02% CPC to the narrowed opening and adhered part of the foreskin twice a day, in the morning and evening respectively. At the time of CPC application, the foreskin was slightly retracted. We evaluated the therapeutic effect every week from the end of the first week of treatment. RESULTS: Totally, 233 of the patients completed the 8-week treatment, of whom 181 (77.68%) showed full retraction of the foreskin, 28 (12.01%) experienced improvement (disappearance of the phimotic ring), and 24 (10.30%) failed to respond, with a total effectiveness rate of 89.70%. No significant local or systemic adverse reactions were observed during the treatment. CONCLUSIONS Topical application of 0.02% Clobetasol Propionate Cream is a safe, effective, painless, and inexpensive option for the treatment of phimosis in prepubertal chilodren.
