Diarrhea is a common complication of antibiotics usage. The diarrhea ascribed to antibiotics usually consist of loose or watery stools, sometimes containing mucus but rarely grossly evident blood. Almost every antibiotics has been implicated, although cases related to the use of vancomycin or aminoglycosides are rare. Although the pathogenesis of antibiotics-associated diarrhea is not confirmed, recent studies have shown that a toxin of clostridium difficile is implicated as a cause of it. Diagnosis is made by detecting toxin in the stool or stool culture for C.difficile. Treatment is either directed at binding the toxin with anion exchange resins such as cholestyramine in mild case, or at eradicating the C.difficile organism with vancomycin, metronidazole or bacitracin for more severe cases. China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2005;30(1):30-33
OBJECTIVETo develop a with high efficiency and practicality for separating and purifying total steroidal saponins lax china.
METHODUsing adsorption capacity and desorption rate of total steroidal saponins as the primary screening index, surveyed, and the optimized conditions of adsorption and desorption of total steroidal saponins were studied.
RESULTThe adsorption and desorption rate of total steroidal saponins reached 16 mg x mL(-1) and 90% respectively for macroporous resin HPD100 chosen. Macroporous resin HPD100 could be well used in separating and purifying total steroidal saponins from S. china.

OBJECTIVETo study the adsorption and enrichment of effective compounds of danshensu, and protocatechualdehyde from Danshen water extracts by macroporous resin D301.
METHODThe change of active compounds was observed by detecting the amount of danshensu and protocatechualdehyde with HPLC.
RESULT AND CONCLUSIONMacroporous resins D301 can be used in the process of adsorbing and purifying active compounds of danshensu and protocatechualdehyde, and increase the amount of active compounds in water extracts.
