1.Study on risk factors of HIV transmission among men who have sex with men in Ho Chi Minh city
Journal of Practical Medicine 2004;487(9):31-33
Study 600 men who have sex with men (MSM) over 15 years old in Ho Chi Minh City. Results: MSM group had complex sexual relations by oral sex and anal sex, with female partners and sex workers, and often used drugs. It’s necessary to have some intervention approaches in order to decrease HIV infection in this group.

2.Electrolyte disorder in heart failure patients
Journal of Practical Medicine 2003;450(4):57-59
At Cho Ray Hospital – Ho Chi Minh city from Dec 2001 to Dec 2002, 228 heart failure cases (96 males, 130 females, aged 58.4317.45) were studied. Their associated conditions were: 14 with diabetes, 5 brain blood infactus, 5 hyperthyroidies, 19 kidney failures. Among 162 patients with electrolyte disorders, 25 were died, the rate of hyponatremia and hyperkalemia was significantly higher in fatal group than in survival group. Hyponatremia was fatal risk factor and it should pay great attention to treat this condition with hypertonic natrium solution

3.Comparison of the infected mouse brain by Nakayama and Beijing -1 strain for Japanese Encephalitis vaccine production
Journal of Practical Medicine 2005;515(7):3-5
Using white Swiss mouse at 3-4 weeks of age for injection of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) virus. Every 8 lots of the mouse had been infected with Nakayama and Beijing-1 strains by injection of 0.03ml into their brains, then followed up within 3 days. The paralysed mice were collected at the 69th hour of the beginning and at the 120th hour of the end. The interval between collection time was every 3 hours. In this study, the rate of mice with paralysis due to Beijing-1 strain was higher than those due to Nakayama strain (94.99% and 92.97%, respectively). The authors suggested that use of Beijing-1 strain to produce JE vaccine is more effective than Nakayama strain.

4.Evaluation of esophagoduodenal reflux in total gastroresected patients by image.
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;435(11):34-37
A study was carried out 50 patients with stomach cancer received total gastrectomy after 6-12 months of operation, recovered the digestive functions by 2 methods. The evaluation of the esophagoduodenal reflux by scintigraphy. Used 99m Tc-HIDA and gamma-camera found that as a simple, physiological acceptable method and could be used for quantitative analysis. The method of the esophago-intestinal anastomosis type omega after the total gastrectomy can remainly cause the reflux. The method of making the pseudo stomach type lygidakis with distance of 40 cm from the anastomosis stoma Roux -en-Y to the anastomosis stoma of the esophagointestine found that it can prevent the esophagoduodenal reflux. The reflux found that did not occure in all 31 patients who evaluted by scintigraphy.

5.Degradation, half-life and residual effects of pyrethroid impregnated nets on an.dirus
Journal of Malaria and parasite diseases Control 2004;0(3):59-66
This study was performed at Hanoi University of Natural Sciences and National Institute of Malaria and Parasitology from April 2001 to May 2002. Biological trials on laboratory strains of An. dirus were carried out according to WHO/VCB/81.806; WHO/CDS/CPC/MAL/98.12 and WHO/VCB/89.981. Analyses were conducted by the method of fluid-fluid extraction with the solvent system of n-hexan. Fendona 10SC,Icon 2,5CS,K-othrin ISC, Imperator 50EC .soaked mosquito bednet had manifested insecticide effect. Their effect of killing An.dirus was maintained for 5 -6 months. The procedure of analysis of pyrethroide compounds in use for soaking mosquito bednet was established and the half live of 125-188 day long period for each compound was determined

6.Social - demographic and behavioral characteristics in men having sex with men in Ho Chi Minh city
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2004;14(4):82-86
A cross-sectional study was conducted in HCM City in April-May 2004 on 600 men who have sex with men (MSMs) in order to identify the risk factors of HIV transmission for elaborating a specific interventions . Results showed that a big group of MSM was constituted with a private service system. In this group, various high risk sex behaviors were practised : in average, sex buyer- 28,9%, sellers-36,5%, anal sex with male partners-2,7% in the last recent months, no more 60% of men using condom in sex relation; in the last 6 months a rather low rate in this group-16,6% using condom in sex relation with normal women, with a very low rate-26,3% often using condom. In this group, there were 1,7% using intravenous drug in the last 12 months

7.The results of long-term monitoring 149 patients with gastric cancer received the radical total gastrectomy
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;430(9):39-44
Studying was performed on the 149 patients with gastric epithelia glandular cancer received a radical total gastrectomy in the Army Central Hospital No 108 during 1/1/1994 - 1/1/2000. The results has shown that the survival rate within 1,2,3,4,5 years from operations for group connected with omega were 76,36%; 60%; 40%; 27,27%; 25,45%, 53,7% and 46%, respectively. There is a significant different between the survival rates of patients with the tumors T3 and T4. There is no different of the survival rate between levels of the glandular metastasis N2 and N3 and between the third phase and the fourth phase.

Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;430(9):33-37
149 patients with gastric epithelioglandular cancer were operated for the total gastrectomy in the Army Central Hospital No 108 from 1/1994 to 1/200 (male: 86; female: 63), average ages: 50, divided 2 groups according to the 2 methods of the different digestive circulation recovering. The results have shown that the rate of the tumors in the determined positions as vertical axis and perimeter of stomach the average size of the tumor, the average duration of operation and the rate of accidents were not different between two groups. The average rate of accident during operation was 6,7%, the rate of surgical complication was 18,1%.There was no death.

9.The esophageal mucosal lesion after total gastrectomy, recovering the digestive function as type omega and corrective lygidakis.
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;435(11):48-52
119 patient with the peptic cancer received the total gastrectomy, participated to a study after 6-12 months of operation, were recovered the digestive functions as 2 different methods. The results of esophageal endoscopy and biosy only allowed to determine the levels of lesion but not allow affirm that these lesions due to reflu. However, there were the close relation between the general picture according to the description of boyce and microscopic picture according to the description of Beigi I with the clinical symptoms of the reflux esophagitis. Therefore, they also can be used as a standard of diagnosis. The method of the digestive functional recovering by making the distribution bag DD type Lygidakis showed the obvious efficacy in the limitation of the esophageal mucosal lesion due to the postoperative reflux

10.Stability of antigen content in 10 lots of Japanese encephalitis vaccine produced at NIHE, 1998
Journal of Preventive Medicine 1999;9(4):76-77
10 batches of Japanese encephalitis vaccine (JEV) produced at (NIHE) during 1998 were investigated for antigen content. The results showed that: JE antigen content of these 10 batches was equal or slightly higher than that of the reference vaccine
