Background: Angiomyolipoma (AML) is a benign renal neoplasm. Patients were often hospitalized in two situations: Renal AML unilateral or AML with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex. Objectives: To discover prospectively the clinical symptoms and evaluate the therapeutic of 5 renal angiomyolipoma unilateral operated in Viet Duc and Huu Nghi hospital from 2004 January to 2006 April. Subject and Methods: The record of 3 men and 2 women with a mean age of 46.2 years (maximum: 86, minimum: 32); flank pain: 3 patients, heamaturia: 2 patients. The mean lesion diameter was 7.9cm (minimum: 5.4 cm, maximum: 12cm). The mean follow up was 6.6 months. Result: All of the patients symptomatic with a mean giant diameter (7.9cm). One patient was operated on urgently, because of a tumor rupture post-traumatism. Two patients were operated on as diagnostic doubt. Conclusion: Renal angiomyolipomas are almost benign. Total nephrectomy on the size of tumor, their complications and the special conditions.
Angiomyolipoma

Renal angiomyolipoma, once considered a rare benign renal tumour, is relatively common these days. They account for 0.3-3.0% of all renal masses. Histologically, it is composed of adipose tissue, smooth muscles and blood vessels. Here, we wish to highlight five cases of renal angiomyolipomas which were presented to the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, over a two-year period between June 2005 and June 2007. This study wish to illustrate its varied clinical presentation and the management undertaken for each underlying condition. These cases were presented in the form of spontaneous perirenal haemorrhage, a large asymptomatic renal mass, a small asymptomatic renal mass, a symptomatic renal angiomyolipoma and a case of renal angiomyolipoma mimicking a renal tumour. Each of these cases varied in its clinical presentation; thus, management has become very challenging to clinicians ranging from conservative management to active intervention, be it operatively or non-operatively.
Angiomyolipoma

Background: Renal angiomyolipoma is devided into 2 types, one is solitary tumor and other is in patients with tuberous sclerosis (TB). The solitary type usually happens in middle aged women. The lesion usually appears in the right kidney. It occasionally has symptom and usually disovered incidentally. Complication is bleeding in large size tumors (> 4cm). Objective: To share experience in diagnosing and treating AML. Subject and Method: A report of a case of large angiomyyolipoma (AML) of the kidney, which ruptured into retroperitoneal space. The patient was a 53 years old women living in Hai Phong. She had clinical examinations and imaging diagnosis after hospitalization. Result and conclusion:The imaging procedures: ultrasound, Doppler, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRl) and angiography (the goal is intervention) are applied. CT is the most important procedure for diagnosis in emergency cases. Treatment by intervening radiography, tumor rectomy or renal partial resectectomy.
