There are various causes of neonatal anemia, such as acute or chronic hemorrhage, ordinary hemolysis in combining with increasing of free bilirubin, decrease of erythropoiesis. Neonatal loss of blood can be seen prenatally, at birth or prosnatally. The diagnosis of neonatal anemia can be based on clinic observations or on some important examination such as Cooms test, reticulocyte, red blood cell mean volume. The management comprises of overcoming the causes heating anemia

Hemolysis anemia in neonate is always combined with the increase of blood free bilirubine. Therefore, almost cases of neonatal hemolysis anemia were diagnosed succesfully when neonatal jaundice was detected early, just a week after birth. The condition can be divided into two group: hemolysis due to congenital pathology of red blood cell and hemolysis acquired from outwards. Congenital hemolysis can lead to early anemia in neonate. The diagnosis of neonatal anemia can be based on some examinations such as Coombs test, reticulocyte or red cell mean volume, morpholosy of red cell, which can lead to find the cause of anemia

6.Studying antibodies against antigens of neutrophils in the multitransfused patients

Background: Patients who received multiple transfusions of blood and blood products may produce antibodies against antigens of erythrocytes, leukocytes, platelets etc, resulting in many clinical implications. Objectives: To detect frequencies of antineutrophil antibodies in multitransfused patients at National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT). Subjects and methods: The study was conducted on 30 multitransfused patients. Among them there were 12 with thrombocytopenia and 18 with aplastic anemia. Results: 6 cases had anti - neutrophil antibodies, of which 5 had more than 5 times of transfusion, 4 with aplastic anemia and 2 with thrombocytopenia. The sera were further tested with neutrophil panel, revealing 4 samples with anti - NA 1 (13.3%) and 1 sample with anti - NA2 (3.3%). The frequency of anti - neutrophil antibodies in multitransfused patients at IHBT in the study is 20%. Conclusion: Frequency of anti-NA1 was higher than anti-NA2 in multitransfused patients at NIHBT and directly proportional by frequency of NA1 and NA2 antigens in this group. The technical process to identify and classify antineutrophil antibodies in this study can be applied for patients who received multiple transfusions of blood and blood products in Viet Nam

7.Some clinical and cytologic features of erythrocyte in peripheral blood and marrow of patients with myelodysplastic syndrome type persistent anemia

A total of 30 myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) patients was analyzed to determine the clinical aspects and erythroid morphology in peripheral blood and bone marrow. The results are summarized as follows: 63.3% of patients was (50 years old. Male/Female ratio: 0.8. 46.7% were with lonely anemia and the rest were anemia combined with hemorrhages, infections, hepatosplenomegaly and lymphadenopathy. In peripheral blood: 63.4% of patients was with Hb<60g/l. 50% had normocrom - normocytic erythrocyte 96.7% of patients had dysmorphologic erythrocyte. In bone marrow: 46.6% were with hyperplasia of erythroid lineage, 33.6% were with hypoplasia of erythroid lineage, the rest (20%) were with normoplasia of erythroid lineage, 63.4% had dysmorphologic erythroblast, in which 36.7% was with ringed syderoblast

8.Variation of T lympho counts in peripheral blood of idiopathic aplastic anemia patients and the treatment with cyclosporine.

From 11/1995 to 4/1999 we treated by prednisone for 15 patients and CsA for 16 ones with idiopathic aplastic anemia. Results:- Prednison did not change significantly TCD3, TCD4 and TCD8 colony count comparing with pre-treatment (P>0.05).- CsA decreased clearly TCD3 colony count after 1st, 6th month (P<0,05). However, TCD4 colony count decreased not significantly (P>0.05). Conclusions: CsA has more suppressive effect on T-cell colonies, mainly TCDz3 and TCD8 than Prednisone and therefore it may be chosen to treat patients with idiopathic aplastic anemia without indication for bone marrow transplantation.

10.Autommune Hemolytic Anemia Associated with Extracorporeal Circulation.

We noted hemoglobinuris during and after extracorporeal circulation for one case of mitral valve replacement. Laboratory results revealed autoimmune hemolytic anemia(AIHA) including a positive direct Coombs test. A patient with AIHA is serologically incompatible with his own red cells and with the red cells of most blood donors. Red cell transfusion is essential for the management of life threatenting anemia especially in this case. So it is essential, therefore, to have efficient clinician blood bank communication in order to arrive at a rational transfusion therapy for these patients.
