Purpose:
The aim of this study was to determine the influence of H2RAs to the 24-h I-131 uptake in the thyroid gland.Material and Methods A prospective study with quasi-experimental pre- and post-study design was done. Subjects with normal fT4 level who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were selected. All subjects received 0.2 mCi of I-131 orally, and the thyroid uptake calculations were performed at 24 h later. The same procedure was performed 4 weeks later. All of the subjects were asked to consume H2RAs 1 h before the administration of I-131 of the second procedure. Both 24-h thyroid uptakes were statistically analysed.
Results:
A total of 14 subjects were enrolled in this study. Most of them were women (78%) with an average age of 37.6 years old (range: 20–55). This study showed a median of 24-h thyroid uptake of I-131 before and after H2-receptor antagonist of 20.6% (range: 11.1–57.8%) and 16.7% (range: 8.1–39.4%) respectively.
Conclusion
H2-receptor antagonist caused a significance reduction of 24-h I-131 uptake value in the thyroid gland.

Idiopathic nephrotic syndrome (INS) in children is characterized by massive proteinuria and hypoalbuminemia. Minimal change nephrotic syndrome (MCNS) is the most common form of INS in children. The pathogenesis of MCNS still remains unclear, however, several hypotheses have been recently proposed. For several decades, MCNS has been considered a T-cell disorder, which causes the impairment of the glomerular filtration barrier with the release of different circulating factors. Increased levels of several cytokines are also suggested. Recently, a "two-hit" theory was proposed that included the induction of CD80 (B7-1) and regulatory T-cell (Treg) dysfunction, with or without impaired autoregulatory functions of the podocyte. In contrast to the well-established involvement of T cells, the role of B cells has not been clearly identified. However, B-cell biology has recently gained more attention, because rituximab (a monoclonal antibody directed against CD20-bearing cells) demonstrated a very good therapeutic response in the treatment of childhood and adult MCNS. Here, we discuss recent insights into the pathogenesis of MCNS in children.

Objective:
The study protocolaims to provide an overview of the current practice of screening and treatment of
ROP in the selected, to estimate the proportion of childhood blindness due to ROP and assess the number of
premature babies at risk for ROP.
Methods:
The study protocol is a descriptive, cross sectional study design using survey questionnaire to be sent
out to pediatric ophthalmologists, vitreo-retina specialists and division heads of the neonatal intensive care units
of different hospitals in a selected area. Student records and medical abstracts from local schools for the blind will
be obtained and will be reviewed. All qualitative data will be reported by frequency distribution and percentages.
Extrapolation on the proportion of ROP in the area will be done.
Conclusion
Results from the study can show an overview of the current situation of ROP in a selected area
and provide the framework for recommendations for programs aimed providing criteria for timely screening and
treatment of ROP to prevent complications such as childhood visual impairment and blindness in the country.
