1.Progress and controversy in diagnosis and treatment of optic nerve gliomas
Chinese Journal of Ocular Fundus Diseases 2021;37(3):248-251
Optic nerve glioma (ONG) is a rare central nervous system tumor that occurs in children and adolescents. It’s main pathological type is low-grade pilocytic astrocytoma. It is divided into sporadic ONG and neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1) related ONG. Due to the close relationship between ONG and the optic nerve, there is its particularity in diagnosis and treatment. The diagnosis of ONG mainly relies on medical history, symptoms and signs, as well as imaging examinations such as MRI and CT. ONG should be differentiated from optic nerve sheath meningioma, optic neuritis, optic nerve metastasis and other diseases. In recent years, newly discovered molecular targeted therapy and anti-vascular endothelial growth factor drugs are a powerful supplement to ONG. When chemotherapy is not sensitive or resistant, radiotherapy can be considered, but it is only recommended for patients over 7 years of age. Surgery can be considered when the patient’s visual impairment is severe and the appearance of the eye is significantly affected. In addition, due to the susceptibility of NF-1 patients to tumors, the chemotherapy regimen should take into account the risk of secondary leukemia caused by the drug, and the timing of radiotherapy should be after the age of 10. We look forward to further ONG clinical research, which will bring more references for future clinical work.

3.Potassium channels and the modulators in vascular smooth muscle cells
Yuge JIANG ; Hai WANG ;
Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1986;0(05):-
It is well documented that vascular tone is the key determinant of blood vessel resistance and blood flow. But vascular tone could be regulated by modulating the activity of potassium channel directly. Potassium channel openers promote vasodilation by inhibiting the activity of voltage dependent calcium channels and reducing Ca 2+ influx. In this case, inhibition results from membrane hyperpolarisation, which arises due to the stimulation of K + efflux through smooth muscle K + channels. While K + channels are blocked, vasoconstriction could be observed as a result of membrane depolarization, which opens voltage dependent calcium channels. The influx of Ca 2+ can promote smooth muscle contraction by making myosin light chain phosphorylation and arising thick myofilament and thin myofilament relative movements. In this article, the gene structure, current character, Pharmacological and physiological effects of the four subtypes potassium channels are reviewed.
4.Improvement Effect of Poria cocos Peels Water Extract on Liver Fibrosis in Rats Induced by Carbon Tetra-chloride
China Pharmacy 2017;28(22):3065-3068
OBJECTIVE:To study the improvement effect of Poria cocos peels water extract(PWE)on liver fibrosis in rats in-duced by carbon tetrachloride(CCl4). METHODS:84 rats were randomly divided into blank control group,solvent control group, model control group, positive control group (Compound biejia ruangan tablet, 0.75 g/kg), PWE low-dose, medium-dose, high-dose groups (0.9,1.8,3.6 g/kg,calculated by crude drugs),12 in each group. Except for blank control group and solvent control group(ip vegetable oil),other groups received CCl4-vegetable oil solution to reduce liver fibrosis model,ip. After model-ing,each administration group received related medicines,ig,other 3 groups received equal volume of normal saline,once a day, for 4 weeks. After administration,enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to detect the aspartate aminotransferase(AST),al-anine aminotransferase(ALT),laminin(LN),hyaluronic acid(HA),hydroxyproline(Hyp)contents in serum and reduced gluta-thione (GSH),superoxide dismutase (SOD),malondialdehyde (MDA) contents in liver tissue of rats;HE staining and Masson staining were adopted to observe the pathological changes of liver tissue. RESULTS:Compared with blank control group,indexes of rats in solvent control group had no obvious changes(P>0.05). AST,ALT,LN,HA,Hyp contents in serum and MDA con-tent in liver tissue in model control group were significantly increased(P<0.05);GSH,SOD contents in liver tissue were signifi-cantly reduced(P<0.05);and liver tissue showed obvious fibrosis lesions. Compared with model control group,AST,ALT,LN, HA,Hyp contents in serum and MDA content in liver tissue in PWE medium-dose,high-dose groups were significantly reduced (P<0.05);GSH,SOD contents in liver tissue were significantly increased(P<0.05);fibrosis degree of liver tissue was obvious-ly relieved. CONCLUSIONS:PWE shows good improvement effect on liver fibrosis of rats induced by CCl4,which may be related to inhibiting the lipid peroxidation.
5.Current development and clinical application of pancreatic stents
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2017;21(18):2934-2939
BACKGROUND:In recent years, the morbidity of chronic pancreatitis has been increasing dramaticaly with lifestyle changes. Fortunately, endoscopic pancreatic stenting for patients with chronic pancreatitis shows favorable clinical prospects.OBJECTIVE:To introduce the advantages and disadvantages of various stent materials and to review the development and clinical application of pancreatic stents.METHODS: With the key words of chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic stent in Chinese and English, respectively, a computer-based search was performed for articles published in CNKI and PubMed databases from January 2005 to November 2016. After the initial screening, articles related to endoscopic pancreatic stenting usedin vitro,in vivo or in clinic were included.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Endoscopic pancreatic stenting has become a recognized treatment for chronic pancreatitis in recent years. Therefore, the development and application of the materials of pancreatic duct stents appear to be particularly important. According to different materials, pancreatic duct stents can be classified into plastic stents, fully covered self-expandable metal stents, and biodegradable stents. The complications, including stent migration and secondary surgery, frequently appear in the clinical use of plastic pancreatic duct stents and self-expandable metal stents, although they have been widely used in clinical practice. Biodegradable pancreatic duct stents can be degraded completely in the pancreatic duct within the expected time, and thereby avoid several complications. Consequently, the exploitation and application of biodegradable pancreatic duct stents have become an issue of concern.

Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2014;49(7):949-55
Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy can be used to both identify and quantify chemicals from complex mixtures. Over the last several decades, significant technical and experimental advances have made quantitative nuclear magnetic resonance (qNMR) a valuable analytical tool for quantitative measurements of a wide variety of samples. This particular approach is now being exploited to characterize the metabolomes of many different biological samples and is called quantitative metabolomics or targeted metabolic profiling. In this review, some of the strengths, limitations of NMR-based quantitative metabolomics will be discussed as well as the practical considerations necessary for acquisition with an emphasis on their use for bioanalysis. Recent examples of the application of this particular approach to metabolomics studies will be also presented.
