2.Association of solute carrier family 2, member 9 (SLC2A9) genetic variant rs3733591 with gout in a Malay sample set
The Medical Journal of Malaysia 2018;73(5):307-310
Introduction: Gout is one of the most common inflammatory
arthritis in Malaysia. It is due to persistent hyperuricemia
that leads to the formation and deposition of intra- and periarticular monosodium urate crystals either due to excessive
production or insufficient excretion of uric acid. Incidence
and prevalence of gout is increasing worldwide, with a
higher rate among men compared to women. Malay is the
largest ethnic group in Malaysia, followed by Chinese and
Indian. SLC2A9 is a renal urate transporter that controls
renal uric acid excretion and genetic variants in SLC2A9 are
associated with the risk of gout in several populations. This
study aimed to test if the SLC2A9 variant (R265H, rs3733591)
is also associated with gout among Malays in Malaysia.
Methodology: A total of 89 patients with gouty arthritis and
100 normal subjects who consented and were recruited in
this study. The serum urate and creatinine were measured.
The SNP genotyping was performed using PCR-RFLP
method for rs3733591 and BST 1236 was used as a
restriction enzyme to cut the targeted amplicons.
Result: SLC2A9 variant was associated with gout, p-value of
0.007, OR=4.713 [95%CI 1.530-14.513], however this
association was not significant after adjustment for age and
gender with p=0.465 (OR=1.950; 95%CI[0.325-11.718]).
Conclusion: Our data suggest that the genetic variant of
SLC2A9 may contribute to the susceptibility of gout among
Malays in Malaysia.
3.Effects of life quality studies on modern medical sciences
Chinese Journal of Hospital Administration 1996;0(10):-
Studies of life quality as a sociological indicator originated in the U.S. in the 30s of the 20 th century. With the change of the disease spectrum and the medical model, the implication of the concept of health has been expanded. Towards the end of the 70s, life quality studies started in the medical field and gradually flourished, resulting in the development of hundreds of measured quantity tables. The deepening of such studies has brought about increasingly bigger effects on modern medical sciences. These effects can be seen in the following aspects: ①changes of medical thinking, objective and concepts; ②patients*s participation in the choice of their treatment plans; ③new medical treatment and nursing regulations; ④the making of medical administration and health decisions; ⑤development of new drugs, which must take into consideration effects on life quality; and ⑥management of medical records.
4.Effect of anisodamine on the reserpine-induced gastric mucosal lesion in rats
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1986;0(03):-
AIM: To determine the effects of anisodamine (Ani) administered intraperitoneally on the gastric mucosal lesion induced by reserpine.METHODS:In reserpine-treated rats, gastric mucosal lesion, gastric acid secretion, gastric barrier mucus secretion, gastric contraction, gastric mucosal blood flow (GMBF), gastric mucosal nitric oxide synthase (NOS) activity and nitric oxide (NO) content were examined.RESULTS:Ani in doses of 1,5 and 10 mg/kg significantly inhibited the formation of gastric lesions induced by reserpine, with the suppressive rate of 60.0%, 66.7% and 76.6%, respectively. Ani (10 mg/kg) significantly inhibited the secretion of gastric acid, but had no effect on the volume of gastric juice. Ani (10 mg/kg) significantly prompted the secretion of gastric barrier mucus. Our findings also showed that Ani (10 mg/kg) significantly suppressed the frequency and amplitude of gastric contraction. Ani (10 mg/kg) significantly prompted GMBF. In reserpine treated rats, gastric mucosal NOS activity and NO content were decreased and Ani (10 mg/kg) could inhibit the decrease in NOS activity and NO content.CONCLUSIONS:The protective effect of Ani may results in part from inhibiting gastric acid secretion, prompting gastric barrier mucus secretion, suppressing gastric contraction and improving GMBF. NO seems to play an important mediator role in the Ani protective mechanisms.
5.Progress of treatment in primary gastrointestinal tract non-Hodgkin lymphoma
Journal of Leukemia & Lymphoma 2011;20(12):766-768
Gastrointestinal tract is the most common involved site of primary extranodal non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL).Compared with intranodal NHL,treatment of primary gastrointestinal tract NHL is different.Combinational chemotherapy is the best choice for diffuse lesion.Surgery is used to control the local lesion, and is important in the control of the complications of GI tract.Radiation therapy is used to eliminate the remaining lesions and control serious local lesion.H.pylori eradication should be used for those who had H.pylori infection. Here we reviewed recent progress of treatment in PGI-NHL.
6.NUMBER OF PHALANGES ON THE 3RD,4TH AND 5TH TOES IN CHINESE
Acta Anatomica Sinica 1955;0(03):-
The number of phalanges on the 3rd,4th and 5th toes of 615 feet was observed. In the 615 feet, toes with two phalanges amounted to 73.34?1.77% on the 5th toe and 13.18?1.36% on the 4th toe.In the 294 feet examined, only 3.43?1.06% show- ed presence of 2-phalanx 3rd toe.Nearly 3/4 of the cases had two phalanges on the 5th toe,so it may be considered that the total number of phalanges of a foot in the Chinese is less than 14. The distribution of toes with two phalanges in the 2 feet of an individual can be grouped into symmetrical and asymmetrical types. The symmetrical type occurs more frequently than the asymmetrical. In case the 3rd or 4th toe has two phalanges, the 5th toe is always to be a 2-phalanx one. No apparent difference in frequency of the occurrence of the 2-phalanx toes was noted in the left or right foot or in the different age groups. The occurrence of toes with two phalanges was oftener in the female than in the male.
7.Hospital Information Sharing
Chinese Medical Equipment Journal 1989;0(03):-
Objective To realize patients' imaging and non-imaging information sharing between two hospitals. Methods Hospitals were connected with fibre. The central index server was set,in which the index information of medical records was saved. The central index server was searched to locate the server of the needed medical records, and then the medical records were read from the new found server. Results The solution for information sharing between hospitals was given. Conclusion It is feasible to realize information sharing between hospitals by fibre connection and central index server.
8.Action of hydroxyanthroquinones from Rheum Palmatum L on jaundice model of rat induced by ANIT
Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 2003;0(10):-
Aim To observe the action of hydroxyanthroquinones from Rheum Palmatum L on reduced jaundice and enzyme in acute jaundice model of rat induced by ANIT.Methods Wistar rats were randomized into five groups: group A in which no treatment was given, group B in which ANIT was given on the eighth day, group C in which high dosage of hydroxyanthroquinones from Rheum Palmatum L was given, group D in which low dosage of hydroxyanthroquinones from Rheum Palmatum L was given, group E in which "Yinzhihuang injection" was given as positive control.Except group A and B,other groups were given corresponding drugs for 7 days and then additionally administered ANIT to induce jaundice on the eighth day.Forty-eight hours later, the rats′ blood was gained from eyes and the serum was separated. The liver functional sign, the activity of SOD,the content of MDA in serum and change in pathology of liver tissue were observed. Results Compared to group B,ALT,AST,TBIL,ALP,?-GT ,MDA of group C and E descended obviously(P0.05).Conclusion Hydroxyanthroquinones from Rheum Palmatum L has the action of reducing serum bilirubin and transaminase and improving liver tissue injury in rats of experimental Cholestasis.
