1.Drug induced allergic dermatitis in Bach Mai hospital.

A study on the clinical and paraclinical features and treatment of 95 patients with the drug induced allergic dermatitis has shown that the most common cause of drug induced allergic dermatitis was traditional medication. The disease occurred mainly in people with ages of 15-45. The induced allergic dermatitis occurred lately and subacute. 3 common symptoms were itching, erythematosus and local edema. There were no significant changes of blood biochemistry, the reaction of mastocyte catalysis only supported for the diagnosis.

2.Monoamine oxidase inhibitory effect of Vietnamese plants

The vertical HIV transmission from mother to infant can occur in the pregnant period (in utero), during labor or after delivery from breastfeeding. It’s difficult to diagnose HIV-infected newborns by means of serology test, since IgG antibody can infiltrate through placenta from HIV-infected mothers and therefore the serology test is always positive in their babies, even in case the babies were not HIV-infected. In this study, the vertical mother-to-infant HIV-1 transmission in utero was detected by using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with p17, c2v3 (gp120) and gp41 primers. 37 of 37 (100%) mother blood specimens and 2 of 37 (5.4%) their newborn umbilical cord blood samples were HIV-1 PCR positive. The PCR success rate with P17 and gp41 primers was much higher than that of PCR with c2v3 primer, especially on umbilical cord blood samples. It is recommended that a PCR test using the least 2 primers (p17 and gp41) should be performed at birth to detect HIV-1 seropositive infants and to allow the initiation of antiretroviral therapy. It is necessary to follow up baby health and perform repeatedly HIV-1 PCR on their blood samples to diagnose the timing of HIV-1 transmission.

4.Doppler etrasound technique for assesment the parameters of right ventricle blood flow fulfilment in the patients of hypertension

Imaging of right ventricle and left ventricle blood flow fulfilment of 185 hypertention patients was studied in comparison with the imaging of 2 ventricle fulfilment of 77 healthy persons of same age hypertension patients whose left ventricle muscle mass is within normal limits, the maximum speed of fulfilment in diastolic first stage decreases dramatically. Conversely, maximum speed of systolic stage increases considerably. The E/A ratio of the fulfilment flow in lelf and right ventricles correlate significantly with the age, the systolic and diastolic blood pressure, the thickness of wall of ventricle and the ratio of ventricle wall, the left ventricle anterior and posterior diameter ratio

5.Study of the relationship between left ventricular diastolic functions with physiologic variables in normal healthy subjects

In 105 normal healthy subjects (63 males and 42 females) without cardiovascular diseases, with blood pressure < 140/90 mmHg, aged 28-80, study showed that: the flow rate of filling left ventricle was infuenced by various physiologic factors such as age, heart rate, blood pressure, left ventricle systolic function and body superficial value. In female subjects, the flow velocity of filling ventricle in systolic starting had the trend to be higher than in male, but there was no significant difference between every group. In other rest parameters (A, A/E) there is no difference between male and female subjects

6.Studying the role of calcium concentration in dialysate in the rise of blood pressure during hemodialysis sessions

Background: The change of blood pressure during hemodialysis has been noted for long time. However, there were few studies on the rise of blood pressure during hemodialysis. The clinical meaning of hypertension during hemodialysis has not been understood clearly. Objective: To study the role of calcium concentration in dialysate in the rise of blood pressure during hemodialysis sessions. Subjects and method: Prospective study performed on 9 stable patients on chronic hemodialysis treated at Viet Duc Hospital including 5 female and 4 male patients. The mean age of patients was 47.6 years. The patients had period 1 of 10 weeks of treatment using dialysate 1 A (with calcium concentration 1.8 mmol/l) and then they were switched to period 2 of 10 other weeks using dialysate 3A (with calcium concentration 1.25 mmol/l). Results:The blood pressure of patients during the period 2 using 3A dialysate was better controlled during hemodialysis sessions. The response to erythropoietin treatment was similar in both periods. The serum calcium was lower after using 3A dialysate. Conclusions: Using dialysate with lower calcium concentration can be helpful for controlling the hypertension during hemodialysis sessions. The appropriate calcium concentration in dialysate needs to be selected to avoid the hypocalcaemia in chronic hemodialysis patients.

7.Clinical and Laboratory Characteristics of Kawasaki Disease and COVID-19-Related Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children

Geographical and racial factors constitute important distinctions between Kawasaki disease (KD) and multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C), but no study has been conducted in Vietnam. Forty-one children with KD from January 2018 to July 2020 and 42 with KD/MIS-C from August 2020 to December 2022 were included in this study. Of the patients, 52.3% were aged between 12 and 35 months. Only two were aged over 5 years, and both were belong to the KD/MIS-C group. A 59.5% of the patients were male. Apart from fever, all symptoms tended to be more frequent in patients with KD/MIS-C. The prevalence of diffuse skin rash, hand and foot edema or erythema and gastrointestinal signs was significantly higher in patients hospitalized with KD/MIS-C. There was no significant difference in laboratory findings between the two groups. Coronary artery dilation was more frequently observed in patients with KD/MIS-C compared to those with KD (40.5% vs. 14.6%, P = 0.009).
8.Identification of Soluble Epoxide Hydrolase Inhibitors from the Seeds of Passiflora edulis Cultivated in Vietnam

Soluble epoxide hydrolases (sEH) are enzymes present in all living organisms, metabolize epoxy fatty acids to 1,2-diols. sEH in the metabolism of polyunsaturated fatty acids plays a key role in inflammation. In addition, the endogenous lipid mediators in cardiovascular disease are also broken down to diols by the action of sEH that enhanced cardiovascular protection. In this study, sEH inhibitory guided fractionation led to the isolation of five phenolic compounds trans-resveratrol (1), trans-piceatannol (2), sulfuretin (3), (+)-balanophonin (4), and cassigarol E (5) from the ethanol extract of the seeds of Passiflora edulis Sims cultivated in Vietnam. The chemical structures of isolated compounds were determined by the interpretation of NMR spectral data, mass spectra, and comparison with data from the literature. The soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) inhibitory activity of isolated compounds was evaluated. Among them, trans-piceatannol (2) showed the most potent inhibitory activity on sEH with an IC₅₀ value of 3.4 µM. This study marks the first time that sulfuretin (3) was isolated from Passiflora edulis as well as (+)-balanophonin (4), and cassigarol E (5) were isolated from Passiflora genus.

9.Murrayafoline A Induces a G0/G1-Phase Arrest in Platelet-Derived Growth Factor-Stimulated Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells.

The increased potential for vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) growth is a key abnormality in the development of atherosclerosis and post-angioplasty restenosis. Abnormally high activity of platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) is believed to play a central role in the etiology of these pathophysiological situations. Here, we investigated the anti-proliferative effects and possible mechanism(s) of murrayafoline A, a carbazole alkaloid isolated from Glycosmis stenocarpa Guillamin (Rutaceae), on PDGF-BB-stimulated VSMCs. Murrayafoline A inhibited the PDGF-BB-stimulated proliferation of VSMCs in a concentration-dependent manner, as measured using a non-radioactive colorimetric WST-1 assay and direct cell counting. Furthermore, murrayafoline A suppressed the PDGF-BB-stimulated progression through G0/G1 to S phase of the cell cycle, as measured by [3H]-thymidine incorporation assay and cell cycle progression analysis. This anti-proliferative action of murrayafoline A, arresting cell cycle progression at G0/G1 phase in PDGF-BB-stimulated VSMCs, was mediated via down-regulation of the expression of cyclin D1, cyclin E, cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK)2, CDK4, and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), and the phosphorylation of retinoblastoma protein (pRb). These results indicate that murrayafoline A may be useful in preventing the progression of vascular complications such as restenosis after percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty and atherosclerosis.

10.Copper Tolerance of Novel Rhodotorula sp. Yeast Isolated from Gold Mining Ore in Gia Lai, Vietnam

In this study, twenty-five yeast strains were isolated from soil samples collected in the gold mining ore in Gia Lai, Vietnam. Among them, one isolate named GL1 T could highly tolerate Cu 2+ up to 10 mM, and the isolates could also grow in a wide range of pH (3–7), and tem perature (10–40 ℃). Dried biomass of GL1 was able to remove Cu 2+ effectively up to 90.49% with a maximal biosorption capacity of 18.1 mg/g at pH 6, temperature 30 ℃, and incuba tion time 60 min. Sequence analysis of rDNA indicated this strain was closely related to Rhodotorula mucilaginosa but with 1.53 and 3.46% nucleotide differences in the D1/D2 domain of the 28S rRNA gene and the ITS1-5.8S rRNA gene-ITS2 region sequence, respect ively. Based on phylogenetic tree analysis and the biochemical characteristics, the strain appears to be a novel Rhodotorula species, and the name Rhodotorula aurum sp. nov. is pro posed. This study provides us with more information about heavy metal-tolerant yeasts and it may produce a new tool for environmental control and metal recovery operations.
