1.Changes of SGOT and SGPT enzym activities in blood of experimental mice after long-time exposing to Bassa

100 white mice were divided in two groups, 50 mice for each one. The experimental group was exposed to Bassa 50EC with dose of 30 mg/kg body weight orally during 60 days. The other one was taken distilled water with a similar dose and time. The results showed that SGOT and SGPT enzyme activities in blood of experimental mice increased after exposing to Bassa.

3.The Relationship Between Serum Adiponectin Level and Serum Alanine Aminotransferase Elevation in Korean Male with Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease.

BACKGROUND/AIMS: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) comprises a large part of chronic liver diseases. Recently it was reported that adipokines are closely associated with the common risk factors for NAFLD, such as obesity, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and insulin resistance. We aimed to evaluate the changes in serum adiponectin, resistin and leptin concentrations related to alanine aminotransferase (ALT) elevations in Korean men with NAFLD. METHODS: We studies 38 men who were diagnosed with fatty liver by abdominal ultrasonography. None had a history of excessive alcohol consumption, autoimmune hepatitis, inherited or metabolic liver disease or viral hepatitis. The subjects were divided into two groups. One group had normal levels of ALT (n=28) and the other had increased ALT (n=10). We compared anthropometrical parameters, biochemical items and serum adipokine levels between these two groups. RESULTS: Serum adiponectin levels were lower in the increased ALT group than in the normal ALT group (3.89 +/- 1.77 vs 7.01 +/- 2.54 microgram/dL, P=0.001). But there were no significant differences in serum leptin and resistin levels between two groups (4.02 +/- 2.04 vs 3.26 +/- 1.41 ng/mL, p=0.245, 80.14 +/- 14.8 vs 80.5 +/- 11.34 ng/mL, P=0.937, respectively). Multiple linear regression analyses demonstrated that the serum adiponectin level is inversely correlated with serum ALT level and that the serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST) level is positively correlated with the serum ALT level. CONCLUSIONS: Our study shows that hypoadiponectinemia is associated with an ALT elevation in patients with NAFLD. Adiponectin may play an indirect role in the development of NAFLD.

5.Clinical Evaluation of Hypotensive Anesthesia for Total Hip Replacement Therapy .

Induced hypotension is a well established adjunct to anesthesia which provides improved operating conditions for a wide variety of surgical procedures without significantly increasing the risk to the patient. Since introduction of hypotensive anesthesia in 1964 by Gardner, there has been a wide choice of methods for inducing hypotension during anesthesia, most of which are based on the concept of arteriolar dilatation. Hypotensive anesthesia was attempted on ten patients for total hip replacements which were done at Gospel Hospital, from Feb. to Oct. in 1979. The patients selected did not have a liver problem, and this was determined by SGOT and SGPT, and without a limit of age or sex. The hypotension was induced with 2~3% halothane, 50% N2O and 50%, O2and the blood pressure averaged for systolic pressure 71. 22 mmHg and for diastolic pressure 50. 09 mmHg, The average duration of the induced hypotension was 57. 0 minutes and the blood loss during operation was 300 ml on average. During the hypotensive anesthesia, the urine output decreased by 27. 0% and during the recovery period from hypotension urine output increased by 20%. On our experience, we can conclude that hypotensive anesthesia provides good operative conditions and can be performed without damage to vital organs and can reduce blood loss during operation.

6.Application of aging donors in rat liver transplantation.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the application of donor livers from aging rats, and discuss the age limit of the donor rats liver transplantation.
METHODSArterialized, two-cuff technique orthotopic liver transplantation was performed in male Wistar rats. All the recipient rats were 5 months old, and the ages of the donor rats were 5 (group A), 17 (group B), 20 (group C), 23 (group D), and 26 (group E) months (n=12). The postoperative function recovery and pathological changes of the liver grafts were evaluated by serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) detection and histopathological examination, and the 3-month survival rate of the rats was observed.
RESULTSAging liver grafts in groups B, C, and D caused early elevation of ALT peak level and aggravation of liver tissue damage, and the liver graft recovery was delayed until postoperative day 7. Mild liver fibrosis, reduced hepatocytes and pigment deposition were observed in the liver grafts before the transplantation. Compared with the other groups, the rats in group E showed significantly increased ALT levels after the transplantation (P<0.05), with failure of liver graft function recovery and significantly reduced 3-month survival rate (0%, Plt;0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe donor age of the rats is a crucial factor to affect the outcome of the liver grafts. Grafts obtained from rats younger than 23 months allow better functional recovery of the liver.

7.Cholinesterase activity and Pestieide Compounds in Blood of Pestieide Sprayers.

In order to ascertain the status of health damage among Korean farmers who spray pesticides regularly in summer, blood and urine samples were collected for 88 volunteers during July to Septembei in 1990. Serum cholinesterase activity, parent compounds of pesticides in blood and urine, SGOT, SGPT, blood pressure, pulse rate were measured. The results were as follows ; 1. Mean cholinesterase activity after spraying pesticides was significantly lower than that before splaying. While proportion of abnormal cholinesterase activity (<1900U/L) group was 2.3% before spraying pesticides, tHe proportion of the group after spraying was 22.8% 2. Cholinesterase activity were decreased over 50% in 14.7% of the suhjects who can be classified into poisoning group 3. While pulse rate and blood pressure were slightly increased in poisoning group, those were significantly decreased in non-poisoning group. 4. Consecutive splaying of pesticide caused further reduction of cholinesterase activity, 5. Five parent compounds of pesticides frequently used during summer farming were analyzed using 106 blood samples. IBP in one sample and Isoprothiolane in four samples were detected. No parent compounds were detected in urine samples.

8.The Effects of Various Anesthetics on Plasma Lipid and Enzyme in Hypertensive Patients .

The effect of three anesthetics on the plasma lipid and enzyme were compared in patients with hypertension who required surgery. Thirty patients were divided into three groups of ten; Group l : normal blood pressure with normal plasma cholesterol, Group ll : high blood pressure with normal plasma cholesterol, Group lll : high blood pressure with high plasma cholesterol. The patients in each group randomly received one of these three anesthetics, halothane, enflurane and Innovar. Measurement of SGOT, SGPT, serum cholesterol, r-GT and triglyceride were made on the preoperative day, immediate postoperative period, 24 th and 48 th postoperative hour with the following conclusions. 1) Effects of the three anesthetics on the plasma lipid and enzyme in the three groups were similar in the postoperative period (P>0.05) . 2) The trend of SGOT, SGPT and trig1yceride showed cubic equational changes(P<0.001).

9.Clinical Observation on Antihypertensive Effects of Tripamide(Normonal(R)).

The antihypertensive effects of tripamide was studied in 19 cases of essential hypertension. After 4 weeks treatment with daily dosage of Tripamide (Normonal(R)) 15mg, the dosage was adjusted to 30mg in 10 cases. Before and after treatment laboratory tests were performed in 11 cases. The obtained results were as follows: 1) After 4 weeks treatment with daily dosage of Tripamide 15mg, mean systolic and diastolic blood pressure was decreased by 25 mmHg (12.7%) and 9.7 mmHg (8.5%) respectively(p<0.01), and in 58% of the cases, good or fair control of blood pressure was resulted. 2) After final treatment, mean systolic and diastolic blood pressure was decreased by 29.7 mmHg(15.1%) and 15.0 mmHg(120.5%) respectively(p<0.005) and in 79% of the cases, good or fair control of blood pressure was resulted. 3) There was no significant changes in the values of sodium, potassium, BUN, creatinine, uric acid, cholesterol, SGOT, SGPT and calcium after treatment. 4) There was no significant side effect except one case of mild fatigue and tingling sense of extrmities which were subsided spontaneousely.

10.Evidence-based study of chromate exposed workers' health surveillance indexes.

OBJECTIVEThe health surveillance proposal for chromate exposed workers was provided and analyzed on the evidence-based study and then to be improved.
METHODFirstly, the related literatures were searched about liver damage, micronuclei, urinary chromium and hexavalent chromium exposure in Evidence Based Medicine Reviews such as Cochran library, OVID Medline, Web of knowledge in December 2011; and then, these literatures were reviewed in according to inclusion and exclusion criteria; 22 articles totally were retrieved, evaluated and classified in according to the grading standard by Oxford Centre for Evidence-based Medicine.Finally, field epidemiological investigation was further adopted to confirm the efficiency and feasibility of this proposal, combined with cost-effectiveness analysis:the ratio of total cost divided survival years was used to express the cost-effectiveness.
RESULTOnly the glutamic pyruvic transaminase test could not reflect liver damage caused by chromate exposure well; Urinary chromium correlated well with the index reflecting body damage caused by chromate exposure; Binucleated cells micronucleus index in peripheral blood lymphocyte could reflect the genetic damage caused by chromate exposure. As for health economic evaluation of chromate lung cancer, the value of cost/effectiveness was ¥42 321.61 per year that was far below the value of common people (¥252 868.97 per year) .
CONCLUSIONIt was suggested that serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase test should be replaced by liver function test, urinary chromium should be classified as a compulsory index and binucleated cells micronucleus index in peripheral blood lymphocyte should be supplied as a recommended index.
