AlM: To investigate the effect of endocapsular phacoemulsification cataract extraction and intraocular lens (lOL) implantation with a 1. 8mm or 3. 0mm clear corneal incision on total root mean square ( RMS ) value of the cornea, corneal astigmatism, spherical aberration, coma, trefoil and tear film.
METHODS:ln a prospective study, 156 age- related patients ( 196 eyes ) were randomly distributed into two groups. 1. 8mm-group comprised 94 eyes that had a silicone lOL inserted through a 1. 8mm sutureless clear corneal incision, while, 3. 0mm- group comprised 102 eyes through a 3. 0mm clear corneal incision. Postoperatively, the changes in the total RMS value of the cornea, corneal astigmatism, spherical aberration, coma, trefoil and tear film at 1wk, 1 and 3mo were determined respectively.
RESULTS:ln both groups, postoperatively at 1wk,there were statistically significant differences ( P<0. 05 ) in the total RMS value of the cornea, corneal astigmatism, spherical aberration, coma, trefoil and tear film, while, there were statistically minimal differences ( P< 0. 05 ) between 1. 8mm-group and 3. 0mm-group at 1mo, but were not statistically significantly different ( P > 0. 05 ) between two groups at 3mo postoperative.
CONCLUSlON:This study confirms that incision size has strong impact on the corneal higher-order aberrations, especially, 3. 0mm incision caused significant differences in the total RMS value of cornea, corneal astigmatism, spherical aberration, coma, trefoil and tear film compared with 1. 8mm micro-incision, therefore, micro-incision is very beneficial for clinical use in phacoemulsification.

Objective To study the effect of chest wall vibration therapy on bronchiolitis. Methods A total of 64 patients with bronchiolitis were divided into an experimental group and a control group, the former included 34 cases and the latter included 30 cases. The experimental group received both routine treatment and chest wall vi- bration, while the control group only received routine treatment. PaO_2, PaCO_2, SaO_2, Heart Rate (HR) and Respi- ration (R) were observed, respectively, in the experimental group and the control group at the beginning and the end of the third day. Time needed for expectoration and length of hospital stay in the two groups were observed. Results It was shown that PaO_2, PaCO_2, SaO_2 , HR, R were significantly improved at the end of the third day when compared with those at the beginning in both groups(P

OBJECTIVE: To summarize the characteristics and investigate the mechanisms of boat propeller injuries so as to explore the identification methods between boat propeller injuries and corpse dismemberment. METHODS: More than 100 autopsy cases of boat propeller injuries were collected in a period between 1994 and 2005 in Huzhou district, Zhejiang province. The characteristics of injuries caused by propeller, including abrasion, wound, fracture and severed wound, and the characteristics of clothing, were retrospectively studied and summarized. The severed cross wound section of boat propeller injuries was compared with that caused by corpse dismemberment. RESULTS: The boat propeller injuries were resulted from high-speed propellers with enormous splitting power and mechanical cutting, while corpse dismemberment were resulted from cutting and dismembering the body with sharp instruments. Due to the different mechanisms, the different strength of force and recoil force, the severed wound cross section had different characteristics. CONCLUSION Wounds caused by boat propeller injuries have their unique characteristics, distinguished from wounds of dismembered corpse.

OBJECTIVE: Construct a recombinant plasmid pET28a-EDA-EDB, prepare the fusion EDA-EDB protein. METHODS: For the production of recombinant fibronectin EDA-EDB in Escherichia coli, the EDA and EDB segments were separated from pGEM2-EDA/EDB and recomposed with two additional amino acids, then cloned into the expression vector pET28a. pET system to express EDA-EDB fusion protein and 6 x His/Ni-NTA system to purify it in a single step were used. Western blotting confirmed the purified protein. RESULTS: The EDA and EDB segments were ligated and inserted into pET28a vector. EDA-EDB fusion protein was highly expressed in Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3). Afterwards, it was purified by Ni-NTA resin and verified by western blotting. CONCLUSION EDA-EDB fusion protein can be expressed in pET system and purified by 6 x His/Ni-NTA system.

In this paper, three kinds of chemotactic parameters (concentration, temperature and pH) were determined by plate assay and spore germination method to research the chemotactic response of Botrytis cinerea and Alternaria panax, and their spores on total ginsenosides. The results showed that Botrytis cinerea had strong chemotactic response at the mid-concentration of total ginsenosides (cultivation temperature was 20 degrees C and pH value was 6), and the data of chemotactic migration index (CMI) was 1.293 0, chemotactic growth rate (CGR) was 0.476 0, spore germination rate (SGR) was 53%, and dry weight of mycelial (DWM) was 0.452 6 g x L(-1); however, Alternaria panax had strong chemotactic response at the low-concentration of total ginsenosides (cultivation temperature was 25 degrees C and pH value was 6), and the data of chemotactic migration index (CMI) was 1.235 4, chemotactic growth rate (CGR) was 0.537 0, spore germination rate (SGR) was 67%, and dry weight of mycelial (DWM) was 0.494 8 g x L(-1). The results indicated that the low and middle concentration (2, 20 mg x L(-1)) of total ginsenosides had significant promoting effect on chemotactic response of these two pathogens, and the spore germination, mycelial growth rate, dry weight of mycelial of them were also significantly improved by this chemotactic response, whereas it decreased as the increase of total ginsenosides concentration.

OBJECTIVETo study the storage technique on artificial seeds of Pinellia ternata.

METHODMicrotubers were used as experiment materials. By using orthogonal experiment, the sodium alginate, added with GA3 badistan, chitosan and sodium benzoate, was used as seed vessel. The artificial seeds were stored respectively under 25 degrees C and 4 degrees C for 30 days, then, calculated the germination rate.

RESULT AND CONCLUSIONThe sodium alginate(3%) added with GA3(0.1 mg x L(-1)), sodium benzoate(0.2%), badistan(1.0%), ClO2(0.1%) and chitosan(0.2%), were used as artificial seed vessel. Stored under (25 +/- 1) degrees C for 30 days, and the germination rate was over 65%. The sodium alginate(3%), added with GA3(0.1 mg x L(-1)), sodium benzoate(0.2%), badistan(1.0%), ClO2(0.2%) and chitosan(0.1%), were used as artificial seed vessel. Stored under 4 degrees C for 30 days, and the germination rate was over 80%.

OBJECTIVETo set up the fittest medium for directly inducing regenerated plantlet from leaf of Chrysanthemum morifolium.

METHODLeaves of different phases obtained from the virus-free plantlets were cut and cultured in some kinds of media.

RESULT AND CONCLUSIONTo Bo morifolium and Chu morifolium, the fittest medium for the formation of regenerated plantlet was MS + 6-BA 0.1 mg x L(-1) + NAA 0.1 mg x L(-1), and to be incubated on the right side was better than on the back right.

AIM To study the chemical constituents from Polygonum posumbu.METHODS The 95％ ethanol extract from P.posumbu was isolated and purified by silica,Sephadex LH-20 and recrystallization,then the structures of obtained compounds were identified by physicochemical properties and spectral data.RESULTS Fourteen compounds were isolated and identified as n-hexacosanol (1),n-tetradecanoic acid (2),β-sitosterol (3),daucosterol (4),gallic acid (5),quercetin-3-O-(2″-O-galloyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside (6),quercetin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (7),quercetin (8),o-phthalic acid bis-(2-ethyl decyl)-ester (9),inositol (10),sucrose (11),succinic acid (12),n-butyl-β-D-fructopyranoside (13),α-D-glucose (14).CONCLUSION Compounds 1,2,9,10 and 14 are isolated from genus Polygonum for the first time,compounds 1-14 are isolated from this plant for the first time
