Astragalus adsurgens seed is one of the most common adulterants of Astragali Complanati Semen in the market, whose morphological characteristics are very similar with A. complanatus seeds (Astragali Complanati Semen). Many identification methods have been reported, such as morphological identification, fluorescence method, ultraviolet spectrophotometry, TLC, HPLC, protein electrophoresis and so on, but there's no much about microscopic identification. In the present study, the morphological characteristics and microscopic characteristics of these two seeds were investigated, which could provide scientific evidence for the identification and classification of Astragali Complanati Semen. Our results showed that these two seeds were slightly different in the color and the appearance, but significantly different in the microstructure of the seed coat and the hilum, and the distribution of fat droplets in the cotyledon cells. So these microscopic characteristics can be applied for the identification of Astragali Complanati Semen.

Objective To explore the relationship between IL-1?-511C/T and IL-1?+3953C/T site polymorphisms and the susceptibility of pediatric epilepsy. Methods Under the case-control study,IL-1?-511C/T and IL-1?+3953C/T site polymorphisms in 117 patients with pediatric epilepsy and 95 healthy individuals controls(healthy control group) were analyzed with polymerase chain reaction restriction and fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP),the relationship between IL-1?-511C/T,IL-1?+3953 C/T site polymorphisms and the risk of pediatric epilepsy were analyzed.SAS 8.0 software was used to analyze the data. Results Multiple variate logistic regression analysis revealed that compared with healthy control group, there was no relationship between the IL-1?-511C/T site polymorphisms and the susceptibility of pediatric epilepsy individuals, carrying at least one +3953T variant allele(CT and TT genotypes) had a significantly increased risk for pediatric epilepsy(adjusted OR=2.46,95%CI 1.03-5.87),compared with the wild-type genotype(+3953CC).Furthermore,individuals with epilepsy or febrile seizures family history had a significantly higher risk(adjusted OR=4.12,95%CI 1.28-29.34),compared with those with both CC genotypes. Conclusions These findings support the hypothesis that IL-1?-511C/T site polymorphisms have no relationship with epilepsy, but the IL-1?+3953C/T polymorphism may contribute to the risk of developing pediatric epilepsy.

OBJECTIVE To explore the value of spiral CT in detecting narrow level of obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS) through investigating measured parameters of upper airway. METHODS The upper airway levels from the roof of nasopharynx to the inferior border of cricoid cartilage were scanned with spiral CT in 127 OSAHS patients and 52 controls. The coronal and sagittal diameter and the cross sectional areas of palate, uvula, tongue, epiglottis level were measured using image handling workstation. The measured values of each level were divided by the measured values of the cricoid cartilage level, and get relative values. The relative values of the OSAHS patients and controls were compared. RESULTS The relative values of posterior soft palate and uvula region, lingual region and epiglottis regions were statistically different. The difference also existed between genders. The relative values of 46 controls and 17 OSAHS patients were in the normal range. Among 127 OSAHS,the relative values of 110 cases with OSAHS(86.6%) were below the normal range in every region, while in control group, the relative values were found below the normal range in only 6 persons (11.2%).CONCLUSION The relative values of each regions is useful to judge the narrow level of upper airway in OSAHS patients.

OBJECTIVETo establish the rat model of acute pulmonary embolism, and study the changes of vascular active substances in pulmonary embolism rats, and investigate the interventive effect of anticoagulant drugs on vascular active substances.
METHODSOne hundred and twenty-eight rats were randomly divided into four groups: control group, model group, low-molecular-weight heparin and warfarin treated group and rivaroxaban-treated group (n = 32 in each group). The method of autologous thrombosis was used to establish the animal model of acute pulmonary embolism. The animals were treated with saline or different anticoagulant drugs. The physiological and biochemical parameters were detected at different time points after embolization. The rats were killed after embolism of 24 h, 3 d, 5 d or 1 week respectively and the pathologic samples of lung tissues were collected to analyze the pulmonary pathological changes in different groups.
RESULTSRats in embolization group after blood clots injection showed shortness of breath, oral cyanosis; quicken heart rates and other symptoms. All embolization groups had pulmonary hypertension, the levels of type B natriuretic peptide (BNP) were increased significantly. The ratio of endothelin-1 (ET-1)/NO and thromboxane (TXB2) and prostacyclin (6-k-PGFla) were abnormal. After treated with effective anticoagulant drugs, the levels of BNP, ET-1, NO, TXB2 and 6-k-PGF1a were tended to the normal levels in the control group. The pulmonary hypertensions were gradually decreased. The efficacy of rivaroxaban on pulmonary embolism was the same as that of the low molecular weight heparin or warfarin.
CONCLUSIONAnticoagulation therapy can effectively improve endothelial function after pulmonary embolism, reduce pulmonary hypertension, and revise the increased BNP levels to normal levels. The efficacy of rivaroxaban is not inferior to that of low molecular weight heparin and warfarin.

Objective To investigate the relationship of pathological response of breast cancer after neoadjuvant chemotherapy with the imaging findings in dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI.Methods Forty- five patients with pathologically confirmed breast carcinoma who finished courses of neoadjuvant chemotherapy had breast MRI prior to operation.Dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI scans were performed on a 1.5 T scanner using 3D SPGR sequence before and repeated 6 times after administration of Gd-DTPA. Pathological response was assessed by a pathologist according to Miller & Payne five points classification blinded to breast MRI results.Grade 5 was defined as pCR(pathological complete response).Grade 4 and 5 were defined as major histopathological response(MHR).The type of time signal intensity curve(TIC) (three types),pattern of residual enhancement of each breast cancer were recorded and correlated with pathological findings.Fisher exact test was used for statistical analysis. Results Grade 5 responses were achieved in seven patients;grade 4 in sixteen patients;grade 3 in sixteen patients and grade 1—2 in six patients.70.0%(14/20)of type Ⅰ time signal intensity curve correlated with MHR,while all 6 type Ⅲ curves showed non-MHR response. The type of time signal intensity curve and pathological response grades had statistically significant correlation(P=0.001).18 of the 23 cases with MHR exhibited residual enhancement, while the remaining 5 cases showed no enhancement.Of the 18 MHR cases with residual enhancement,11 showed non-mass-like enhancement and 7 showed mass-like enhancement. The mass(non- mass)morphological pattern in dynamic contrast enhanced-MRI had statistically significant differences in pathological response(P=0.012).Conclusions Pathological response of breast carcinoma after neoadjuvant chemotherapy could be characterized using dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI by identifying patterns of residual contrast enhancement and kinetic curve.Favorable pathological responses correlated with Type Ⅰ TIC,non-enhancement,and non-mass-like residual enhancement.
