Objective: To investigate the effect of taurine on learning and memory impairment, cytokines secretion in rats intrahippocampally injected with ?-amyloid (A?) 1-40. Methods: SD rats were randomly divided into control group, A? injected group, taurine (0.3g/kg?d, 0.6g/kg?d) groups. The rats were fed with taurine for 7 days, and then subjected to bilateral intrahippocampus injection of A?1-40 or vehicle. Two weeks later, all rats performed Morris water maze test. The contents of IL-6, TNF-? were checked by way of radio-immunity assay for hippocampus samples. Results: Compared with A?model group, the escape latency and distance were significantly reduced in taurine (0.6g/kg?d) group; the ratio of swimming distance in the target quadrant to that in the whole pool of the probe trial; the content of cytokines of IL-6 and TNF-?in hippocampus were reduced significantly. Conclusion: Taurine can effectively attenuate the cognitive dysfunction caused by A?1-40 in rats. The reduced cytokines content in hippocampus might contribute to this effect.

Objective To probe the effects of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-?B) on cell apoptosis and left ventricular segmental function in acute ischemia repeffusion in dogs.Method Twenty-four dogs were randomly divided into three groups:without left anterior artery (lAD) ligation group (C group),LAD was occluded 30 min following reperfusion 120 minutes in isehemical reperfusion group (IR group),and dogs were administered with PDTC before LAD ligation in ischemical reperfusion plus pyorrole dithitocarbamate group (PDTC group). The left ventricular segmental function was detected by echo cardiography using strain rate anlysis software.EF measured by Simpson's method.Cardiac myocyte apoptosis numbers were determined by terminal deoxynudeotidy transferease-mediated biotinylated deoxyuridine triphosphate nick end labeling (TUNEL).lmmunohistochemistry and western-blot anylysis of NF-?B protein expression. Results NF-?B was obviously expression on injury myocardium of IR group, and increased significantly in contrast to control group (P0.05)Conclusions NF-?B might play an important role in acute myocardial ischemia reperfusion.PDTC reduces myocardial iscbemia/repeffasion injury by preventing expression of factor NF-?B.

To retrospectively analyze the safety and efficacy of low dose subcutaneous decitabine regimen in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and intermediate-or higer-risk myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).Of 6 AML cases,2 achieved complete remission (CR),2 with partial remission(PR),1 with stable disease(SD),1 with progressive disease(PD).As to the 8 MDS patients, one achieved CR and 6 with hematologic improvement (HI),1 case SD.Low dose subcutaneous decitabine regimen could be an alternative choice of older AML or MDS patients.

OBJECTIVE:To study the effects of taurine on oxidative stress and calcium overload induced by cerebral cortex contusion.METHODS:SD rats were randomly divided into normal control group, brain contusion model group, taurine groups(high dose, middle dose and low dose respectively),and nimodipine group. After being fed with corresponding drugs for7days,all rats were subjected to modeling by brain contusion. For intracellular calcium detection, rats were sacrificed2h after modeling, and the brain slices were prepared to fluorescence labeling and confocal microscopy detection. For the detection of oxidative stress, rats were sacrificed24h after modeling, the cortex of contusion side was homogenated and then the activity of superoxide dis?mutase(SOD)and content of malondialdehyde(MDA)were detected through biochemical method.RESULTS:Compared with model group, all taurine groups were shown to have markedly less MDA and intracellular calcium content, and the high dose group had markedly stronger SOD activity.CONCLUSION:Taurine is effective in counteracting the oxidative stress and calcium overload caused by brain contusion.

Objective To observe the effectiveness and side-effect of two cases of relapsed and refractory T-cell lymphoma (TCL) treated with thalidomide and interferon. Methods Two cases of relapsed and refractory TCL was treated with thalidomide and interferon, the efficacy and side-effect were observed, and the relevant literature was reviewed. Results The patients achieved partially remission after being treated with thalidomide and interferon. Conclusion Thalidomide in combination with interferon can be used as a second line therapy for relapsed and refractory TCL.

Astragalus adsurgens seed is one of the most common adulterants of Astragali Complanati Semen in the market, whose morphological characteristics are very similar with A. complanatus seeds (Astragali Complanati Semen). Many identification methods have been reported, such as morphological identification, fluorescence method, ultraviolet spectrophotometry, TLC, HPLC, protein electrophoresis and so on, but there's no much about microscopic identification. In the present study, the morphological characteristics and microscopic characteristics of these two seeds were investigated, which could provide scientific evidence for the identification and classification of Astragali Complanati Semen. Our results showed that these two seeds were slightly different in the color and the appearance, but significantly different in the microstructure of the seed coat and the hilum, and the distribution of fat droplets in the cotyledon cells. So these microscopic characteristics can be applied for the identification of Astragali Complanati Semen.

Objective To explore the application of 18F-FDG PET/CT combined with high-resolution CT (HRCT) in the same scanner on diagnosis of lung cancer, and its influencing factors. Methods 50 patients, in which some cannot supply HRCT raw date and under highly suspicion of being lung cancer, some were postoperative lung cancer and metastasis of lung cancer, were examined by 18F-FDG PET/CT combined with HRCT in the same scanner. Results 50 patients were all successful (100%) on PET/CT scans after preparation, injection, rest and breathing exercises;46 cases (92%) were successful on PET/CT combined with HRCT scans;4 cases (8%) failed on HRCT scans. Ma-lignant lesions were found in 35 cases, with the metastasis of 21 cases;4 in 6 cases of postoperative lung cancer were found metastasis;9 cases of benign pulmonary nodules need to be observed sequentially. Conclusion 18F-FDG PET/CT combined with HRCT in the same scan-ner is valuable on diagnosis of lung cancer. The diagnostic accuracy and sensitivity significantly increase. It is a non-invasive new imaging technology and systemic metastasis can be observed.
