1.Objective tongue inspection on 142 liver cancer patients with damp-heat syndrome.

OBJECTIVETo establish the diagnosis evidence of objective tongue inspection for liver cancer (LC) patients with damp-heat syndrome (DHS) by dynamically observing their tongue figures using modern tongue image analytic apparatus, and to explore the effect of intervention on the tongue figures.
METHODSTongue figures were collected from 142 LC patients with DHS by tongue image analytic apparatus. Red (R), green (G) and blue (B) values were analyzed. The r and g values were calculated requesting r=R/(R+G+B), g=G/(R+G+B), and b=1-r-g, and scored in combination with Chinese medical symptoms scale. The tongue figure and correlated scores were collected from 59 of them 3 days after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization intervention.
RESULTSThe range of objective tongue inspection of LC patients with DHS was as follows: as for tongue fur, 0.360 CONCLUSIONThe range of objective tongue inspection of LC patients with DHS could be known by collecting and analyzing objective indicator of tongue figures, thus laying foundation for further studies with analysis of correlation between intervention and Chinese medicine based on tongue figures.

2.Chemical constituents from marine fungus Penicillium thomii.

AIMTo investigate the bioactive constituents from the mycelium of Penicillium thomii. Which isolated from Anemone collected in Qingdao beach.
METHODSThe constituents were separated by using various chromatography and the structures were identified on the basis of extensive spectral analysis.
RESULTSFive compounds, namely penicillixanthone A (I), p-methylbenzolic acid (II), 1-O-hexadecanoyl-2-O-(9-octadecenoyl)-3-O-(9, 12-octadecadienoyl) glycerol (III), 5 alpha, 8 alpha-epidioxy-24 zeta-methylcholesta-6, 22-dien-3 beta-ol (IV) and 1, 6, 8-trihydroxyl-3-methyl-9, 10-anthracenedione (V), were isolated from the mycelium of Penicillium thomii.
CONCLUSIONPenicillixanthone A is a new compound, while the others are isolated from Penicillium thomii for the first time.

3.Clinical Significance of Serum Level of Cyclopropaneoctanoic Acid 2-Hexyl in Patients with Hypertriglyceridemia-Related Disorders

Objective To observe the serum level of cyclopropaneoctanoic acid 2-hexyl (CPOA2H) in patients with hypertrilyceridemia-related disorders,and investigate its clinical significance.Methods 53 obese patients (Obese group),62 obese patients after a 3 month low calorie diet (Obese patients after low calorie diet group),46 patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD group),and 60 healthy controls (Control group) were collected from Mar 2013 to Dec 2015 in Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital.Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) were used to detect the serum fatty acid and CPOA2H level in four groups.Results Ages,body mass index (BMI),C-reaction protein (CRP),total cholesterol (TC),triacylglycerols (TAG) among four groups had significant difference (F=6.85 ~ 25.36,P<0.05).Most saturated fatty acid (14 ∶ 0,16 ∶ 0) and monounsaturated fatty acid (14 ∶ 1,16 ∶ 1,18 ∶ 1,20 ∶ 1) in obese group were higher than controls (F=3.251~7.351,P<0.05).The polyunsaturated fatty acid (18 ∶ 2n-6,20 ∶ 4n-6) in CKD group were lower than controls (F=4.351 ~6.251,P<0.05).There existed significant difference of serum levels of CPOA2H among four group (F=19.95,P=0.005).Serum level of CPOA2H in control (r=0.63,P=0.033) and CKD group (r=0.61,P=0.044) were positively related with TAG.Serum level of CPOA2H in obese group and obese patients after low calorie diet group were positively related with TC (r=0.70,P=0.011;r=0.48,P=0.021) and TAG (r=0.75,P=0.024;r=0.72,P=0.018).Conclusion Hypertrilyceridemia-related disorders,such as obesity and CKD,presented with elevated serum levels of CPOA2H,it suggested that serum level of CPOA2H is positively related to serum TAG concentration rather than BMI.
4.Changes in topological properties of brain structural network in patients with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder based on diffusion tensor imaging

Objective To explore the topological properties of the brain structural network in patients with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD).Methods Diffusion tensor imaging was performed in 41 NMOSD patients (patient group) and 40 age-and sex-matched healthy volunteers (control group) who were admitted to the Department of Neurology,The Third Affiliated Hospital to Sun Yat-sen University from September 2014 to October 2017.The deterministic fiber tracking techniques were used to construct the white matter structural weighted network.Topological properties of the brain structural network were then calculated based on complex graph theory analysis.The 2 groups were compared in terms of global and local parameters of the brain structural network using statistical methods.Results The brain structural networks in both groups exhibited small world properties.Compared with the control group,the global efficiency of the brain structural network in the patient group was significantly decreased and the shortest path length significantly increased (P=0.002,P=0.002,FDR correction).There were no statistically significant differences between the brain structural networks of the 2 groups in terms of clustering coefficient,the shortest path length on average,value of small world property,average clustering coefficient or local efficiency (P=0.780,P=0.496,P=0.279,P=0.269,P=0.050,FDR correction).Compared with the control group,the nodal efficiency of the brain structural network of the patient group was significantly decreased in the frontal lobe (bilateral precentral gyrus,middle frontal gyrus of the right orbital part,inferior frontal gyrus of the right opercular part,right rolandic operculum,bilateral median cingulate and paracingulate gyri),parietal lobe (right posterior cingulate gyrus,right superior parietal gyrus,left inferior parietal of angular gyri,right angle gyrus,and right precuneus),temporal lobe (bilateral hippocampus and right parahippocampal gyrus),occipital lobe (left cuneus,left superior occipital gyms,bilateral middle occipital gyrus,and left inferior occipital gyrus) and subcortical region (right caudate nucleus and right thalamus) (P<0.05,FDR correction).Conclusion There is abnormal connection in brain structural network in NMOSD patients.
5.Differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells into cardiomyocytes induced by cardiomyocytes.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the role of adult cardiomyocytes in the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) into cardiomyocytes.
METHODS:
Rat MSCs were isolated by a Percoll's gradient solution and cultured in low-glucose Dulbecco' s modified Eagle' s medium (DMEM). After 2 passages, cell-surface antigen CD34, CD71 and CD90 for rat MSCs were determined by flow cytometry, and these MSCs were transfected with pEGFP-N3 by Lipofectamine2000. Then those MSCs labeled with GFP, were cultured in contacted, nocontacted and conditioned with adult rat myocardiocytes. Immunofluorescence staining against alpha-actin, desmin, and troponin-T were performed after 1 week.
RESULTS:
Immunofluorescence staining was positive against alpha-actin, desmin, and troponin-T on MSCs in contacted culture group. In contrast, no alpha-actin, desmin, and troponin-T expression on MSCs were observed in the noncontacted culture group and the conditioned culture group.
CONCLUSION
Direct cell-to-cell contact between MSCs and adult cardiomyocytes may induce differentiation of MSCs into cardiomyocytes.

6.Nursing on spinal surgery by CT navigation

Objective To evaluate the intraoperative CT navigation between the management of specific models of spinal surgery. Methods Navigation system CT nursing management was used in 281 cases of spinal surgery and the nursing characteristics was summarized. Results The end of surgery ou patients were successful, the effect were well, implant positioning accuracy, physician were satisfied with the surgical nursing. Conclusions Surgery with reasonable care and protection is essential to the success of surgery and operating room nursing quality management can guarantee the safety of patients with surgery.
7.Preoperative psychological nursing of patients in minimally invasive spine surgery in one-day hospital ward

Objective To explore the specific model of preoperative psychological nursing of patients in minimally invasive spine surgery in one-day hospital ward. Methods The characteristics of preoperative psychological nursing of 584 patients in minimally invasive spine surgery in one-day hospital ward were summarized and effective psychological nursing were performed on them. Results Patients under the local anesthesia could initiatively cooperate in the surgery, recognize the outcomes of operations and accept training at home after surgery. Conclusions Good perioperative psychological nursing can effectively promote the surgical safety, help patients to build confidence, improve their initiative in the operation and surgical efficacy, increase patients' satisfaction.

Background Visual impairment influent the life quality of patient and bring about the economical burden to their families and society.Epidemiology survey of the prevalence and main causes of visual impairment is the basis of the prevention of blindness.Objective The goal of this survey was to investigate the visual impairment in the subjects aged 40 years or older living in Shunyi district and assist in the design of intervention programs.Methods A cross-sectional survey was performed in this study.Cluster sampling was used to randomly select 4549 individuals aged ≥40 years in Shunyi district,and visual impairment was evaluated based on WHO criteria and analyzed based on the 10-year interval groups.The questionnaire,best corrected visual acuity (BCVA)and comprehensive eye examination were provided for eligible residents.To evaluate the independentassociation of significant sociodemographic variables with visual impairment,a regression model was constructed including age,sex and education level.This study was approved by the Ethic Committee of Peking University Medical Department.Written informed consent was signed by each subject before any medial survey.Results A total of 4167 subjects participated in this survey with the response rate of 91.6%.The age of the subjects ranged from 40-94 years(mean:56.61±11.10 years).The numbers of visual impairment was 161 with the prevalence 3.9%.Trend x2 test showed that the number and percentage of visual impairment were elevated as the increase of age,showing a significantly difference among different age groups(x2 =159.487,P<0.01).The prevalence rate of visual impairment in 70 and older group was 15 times more than that of 60-69-year-old group(OR =0.114,95% CI:0.056-0.234).No significant difference was found between gender and prevalence of visual impairment(OR =0.901,95% CI:0.627 -1.295).The prevalence rate of visual impairment in illiterate group was 5.5 fold more than that of educated group (OR =2.743,95% CI:1.830-4.111).Conclusions Ageing and low education degree are the important factors of visual impairment.Education attainment is an independent protective factor of visual impairment.
9.Epidemiological survey of diabetic retinopathy in Shunyi district of Beijing

Background There are no noticeable symptoms in early stages of diabetic retinopathy(DR)and the detection of presymptomatic DR remains challenging. Therefore, data on the prevalence and progress of DR will help in prevention and treatment programs in China. Objective This study was to survey the prevalence and risk factors of diabetic retinopathy( DR ) in a population aged 40 years or older in the Shunyi district of Beijing city.Methods A cross-sectional study was designed. Cluster sampling was used to randomly select 4167 (91.6%)individuals aged ≥40 years in 24 clusters in the Shunyi district of Beijing city in China. The Questionnaire data,including general information, living habits, present history, past history, family history, education level etc., were obtained from each subjects. The height, body weight and blood pressure were examined, and slit-lamp examination, direct ophthalmoscopy,indirect ophthalmoscopy and nonmydriatic fundus photography were performed during the study duration. Diabetic mellitus (DM)was diagnosed and graded according to the criteria of Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study Research Group(ETDRS). The associated factors with DR were analyzed byx2 test,trend x2 test,and multivariate Logistic regression analysis. This protocol was approved by the Ethic Committee of Peking University. Informed consent was obtained from each individual prior to the survey. Results A total of 4167 ( 91.6% )individuals were examined from the 4549 samples with a response rate of 86. 4%. This study showed a prevalence of 29. 2% for DR, 5.4% for sight-threatening diabetic retinopathy ( STDR), and 1.3% for prolifrative retinopathy (PDR) in type 2 DM subjects. Of the type 2 DM subjects,0. 4% (4/445)had social blindness( VA<0. 1 ) ,and 6. 3% (28/445) presented with visual impairment (VA < 0. 3 )in bilateral eyes. Univariate Logistic regression analysis indicated that insulin therapy ( P = 0.011 ) and lower body mass index ( BMI, kg/m2 ) ( P = 0. 022 ) appeared to be significantly associated with DR, and the multivariate Logistic regression analysis demonstrated that longer duration of diabetes( P< 0. 01 ) , increased fasting glucose ( P < 0.01 ) and lower education level ( P = 0. 031 ) were significant independent predictors of DR. Conclusion The prevalence of DR is lower among diabetic Chinese aged ≥ 40 years than those of matched population in Western countries. Lower BMI and insulin therapy were the significantly associated factors of DR, and a longer duration of disease and higher fasting glucose level are independent risk factors of DR. Education attainment is important for the DM patients as a protective factor of DR.
10.Overexpression of adiponectin prevents hepatocyte steatosis.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of adiponectin on hepatocyte steatosis.
METHODSL02 cells were transfected with pEGFP-N1-AdipoQ, a plasmid encoding pEGFP-adiponectin fusion protein, or pEGFP-N1. Lipid droplets in the hepatocytes were observed by oil red staining at 72 h. The contents of TG, FFA and glycerol in hepatocytes were measured.
RESULTSCompared to cells transfected with pEGFP-N1-AdipoQ plasmid, much more lipid droplets were observed in cells transfected with pEGFP-N1 plasmid. TG, FFA and glycerol contents in L02 cells and L02/pEGFP-N1 cells were significantly higher than those in L02/pEGFP-N1-AdipoQ cells.
CONCLUSIONSOverexpression of adiponectin prevent hepatocyte steatosis.
