The study was performed to measure and compare the peripheral blood T cell and T subsets in normal controls and psoriatic patients. Thirty-two normal controls and fift:en psoriatic patients were subjected to the study and the percentages and the rati vs of peripheral blood T cell and T subsets were measured. The results were as follows: 1. Mean percentages of peripheral blood lymphocytes reactive with OKT3 monoclonal antibody in psoriatic patients were 72. 8+-8. 2%, They decreased significantl) as compared with these in control group(76, 6- i-4. 7%). Mc an percentages of peripheral blood lymphocytes reactive with OKT4 monoclonal antibody in psoriatic patients were 47. 3+6, 7p;. They increased as compared with these in control group(46. 5+-3. 9p;), but the increase was insignificant. 3. Mean percentages of peripheral blood lymphocytes reactive with OKT8 monoclonal antibody in psoriatic patients were 27. 2+5. 5g, They decreased significantly as compared with these in control group(30, 6- l-4. 3%) 4. Mean ratios of lymphocytes reactive with OKT4 monoclonal antibody to these reactive with OKT8 monoclonal antibody in psoriatic patients were 1.8+- 0. 48 They increased significantly as compared with these in control group(1. 6+ 0.34).

Nerve sheath myxoma(NSM) is a rare cutaneous neoplasm of uncertain histogenesis. NSM can be divided into two groups; NSM1 (a myxoid NSM) and NSM2 (a cellular neurothekeoma). NSMs are characterized histologically by well-defined, lobular or plexiform dermal proliferation of stellate, spindle-shaped cells embedded in abundant myxoid stroma. A variable amount of nerve fascicles are entrapped within and around the tumor. Two variants of NSM share the same features to a certain degree but differ in cellularity and mucin deposition. We report two cases of NSMs with different clinical and histopathologic features.

Leukocytoclastic vasculitis is characterized by palpable purpura, showing microscopically necrotizing vasculitis of the small dermal blood vessels. Although various causes have been suggested, cases of leukocytoclastic vasculitis associated with tuberculosis have rarely been reported. A 40-year old man presented with palpable purpura on both ankles, an intermittent cough, low-grade fever and recent weight loss. A skin biopsy showed characteristic features of leukocytoclastic vasculitis, and the findings of radiology and sputum examinations were compatible with active pulmonary tuberculosis. The purpuric lesions gradually subsided after antituberculous medication. The findings suggested cutaneous leukocytoclastic vasculitis accompanied by pulmonary tuberculosis.

Angiotensin II (Ang II) is metabolized from N-terminal by aminopeptidases and from C-terminal by Ang converting enzyme (ACE) to generate several truncated angiotensin peptides (Angs). The truncated Angs have different biological effects but it remains unknown whether Ang-(4-8) is an active peptide. The present study was to investigate the effects of Ang-(4-8) on hemodynamics and atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) secretion using isolated beating rat atria. Atrial stretch caused increases in atrial contractility by 60% and in ANP secretion by 70%. Ang-(4-8) (0.01, 0.1, and 1 µM) suppressed high stretch-induced ANP secretion in a dose-dependent manner. Ang-(4-8) (0.1 µM)-induced suppression of ANP secretion was attenuated by the pretreatment with an antagonist of Ang type 1 receptor (AT₁R) but not by an antagonist of AT₂R or AT₄R. Ang-(4-8)-induced suppression of ANP secretion was attenuated by the pretreatment with inhibitor of phospholipase (PLC), inositol triphosphate (IP₃) receptor, or nonspecific protein kinase C (PKC). The potency of Ang-(4-8) to inhibit ANP secretion was similar to Ang II. However, Ang-(4-8) 10 µM caused an increased mean arterial pressure which was similar to that by 1 nM Ang II. Therefore, we suggest that Ang-(4-8) suppresses high stretch-induced ANP secretion through the AT₁R and PLC/IP₃/PKC pathway. Ang-(4-8) is a biologically active peptide which functions as an inhibition mechanism of ANP secretion and an increment of blood pressure.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the development and application of the new nurses' core skill program on the clinical skill, confidence, knowledge and performance of new nurses. METHODS: This study was a nonequivalent control group post-test design on 46 new nurses with 3 to 6 months work experience in a general hospital. Data were collected from August 2015 to August 2016. A training program of core fundamental nursing skills was applied on 23 new nurses from 2016 in the experiment group, and an existing training method was applied on 23 new nurses from 2015 in the comparison group. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 23.0. RESULTS: The experimental group (89±4.29) showed higher score in practical skill assessment compared to the control group (85.09±3.99) and showed a statistically significant difference (p<001). CONCLUSION: A training program of core fundamental nursing skills for new nurses proved effective in improving practical skills. Further research on the development of a systemic training program that can improve clinical nursing knowledge and work ability for new nurses according to the extended enforcement of a Nursing Care Integrated Service ward is needed.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the effect of myomectomy as a treatment for infertility and to define the factors that influence reproductive outcomes MATERIALS AND METHODS: During the period from January 1995 to December 2001, on 39 patients who suffered from infertility and habitual abortion underwent transabdominal myomectomy at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Chonbuk National University Hospital. RESULTS: Pregnancy occurred in 31 women. The mean age was 32.3 years. The pregnancy rates in women with or without associated factors in addition to myoma were 55.5% and 71.4%, respectively, and those in women with <2 years versus >2 years of infertility were 73.7% and 55%, respectively. In case of women with myoma on lateral side, pregnancy rate was 33.3%. Considering the size, women with a myoma, 30~50 mm in size had higher pregnancy rate (81.2%). The 24-month cumulative probability of conception was 91% in patients <30 years of age, 55.5% in patients 30~35years of age, and 40% in patients >35 years of age. CONCLUSION: Our results suggest a benefit of myomectomy in infertile patients. Factors affecting the pregnancy rate after myomectomy in theses patients are the age of the patient, the duration of infertility, the site of myoma, and the size of myoma <50 mm. However, women should be counseled carefully before surgery because the determinants of outcome appear to be independent of treatment.

PURPOSE: This study was conducted to describe qualitatively the entities of nurse's experiences in general hospitals and to suggest basic data guiding research on developing Standards of clinical nursing practice in Korea. METHOD: Fourteen nurses working at general hospitals with over 300 beds in Seoul were interviewed in-depth until saturation using tape-recorders and transcription. RESULT: The central theme of clinical nursing practice experienced by subjects was "being with clients" that means accepting client's personal character, solving client's needs and providing client-centered nursing. A also "being with clients" was felt to be the responsibility of nurses which was learned from their nursing schools. The nursing strategies performed in order to be with patients were proving skillful nursing techniques, accepting, educating, emotional support, advocating, and self-reflecting, the subjects experienced somewhat problematic affects such as difficulties in interpersonal relationship, work overload, negative image of nursing, deficit of self-confidence for nursing actions, poor working conditions, and unfair treatment. Nurses at the hospital practiced with pride when they felt that they were accepted by clients. CONCLUSION: Further research is needed to analysis problems in clinical practice and the comparison of nurses' experiences of clinical practice, with nurses' experiences in various settings.

Nonketotic hyperglycinemia is an extremely rare congenital metabolic disorder, which is caused by the lack of a glycine cleavage system. The onset of hyperglycinemic symptom is during the neonatal or early infant period. Progressing grave neuromotor dysfunction is one of the main symptoms. They include myoclonic seizure, hiccup, apnea, decreased deep tendon reflex, lethargy and coma. The prognosis is mostly very poor. Furtherrnore, there aren't any effective treatments for nonketotic hyperglycinemia. To our knowledge, there has been no reported case of nonketotic hyperglycinemia in Korea. We experienced a case of nonketotic hyperglycinemia in a three-day- old boy, who had manifested with intractable seizure, mental alteration, apnea, hiccup and feeding intolerance. Unfortunately, he died of intractable seizure and neuromotor dysfunction at 20 days after birth. We could make an early diagnosis on the basis of clinical suspicion and high glycine signal in both cerebral white matter and basal ganglias with magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS), before amino acid analyses of serum and cerebrospinal fluid(CSF) were obtained. We report a Korean case of nonketotic hyperglycinemia with a brief review of literatures.
