Journal of the Korean Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery 1997;3(1):88-92
With the aging process, the senile lids are manifested by the excessive skin, decreased height of palpebral fissures with interference of the vision. Sometimes these patients often complained the blepharitis on the lateral canthal area and phtophobia. But there are many diseases to differentiate from senile lids such as dermatochalasia, blepharochalasia, hypertrophy of orbicularis oculi, herniation of orbital fat, myasthenia gravis, and blepharoptosis. Blepharospasm must also be differentiated because of sysmptoms similar to the above described senile lids. Essential blepharospam is an idiopathic progressively debilitating desease which involve bilateral spasm of the orbicularis oculi. So just only an conventional blepharoplasty could not get an improvement of symptoms and some times it makes the symptoms worsen. This case report is about blepharospasm patients visiting for blepharoplasty. And the patients got relatively the satisfied results with the injection of botulinum A toxin, aided by neurologist, instead of blepharoplasty. In conslutions, The blepharospasm in required to detect in preoperative evaluation for blepharoplasty. Once the blepharospasm is diagnosed, it is better to cooperate with neurologist and to do the blepharoplasty.

Korean Journal of Women Health Nursing 2006;12(3):240-248
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of a Qigong prenatal education program on anxiety, depression and physical symptoms in pregnant women. METHOD: The subjects were a total of 40 pregnant women who received regular prenatal care at S hospital. Twenty people were enrolled in the Qigong prenatal education program and were assigned to the experimental group. The other 20 people who received regular prenatal care only were the control group. The Qigong prenatal education program was given to the experimental group once a week and 2 hours per session for 4 weeks. Anxiety, depression and physical symptoms were collected by a self-administered study questionnaire at the pre- and post test. RESULT: There were no significant differences in subjects' general characteristics or pretest scores of study variables at the pretest indicating both groups were homogeneous. Differential t-tests were used to test the effects of the Qigong prenatal education program on study variables. Pregnant women who received the Qigong prenatal education program had a lower level of depression than those who did not attend(t=2.23, p=.03). There were no significant differences on anxiety and physical symptoms. CONCLUSION: The Qigong prenatal education program was effective in alleviating depression during pregnancy. However, further study is needed to replicate the results with a greater sample size and to investigate the long term effects of the program on the labor and delivery process.

Korean Journal of Urology 1987;28(4):541-548
Effect of Enoxacin (Flumark), an oral pyridone carboxylic acid, in the urinary tract infection was evaluated clinically and susceptibility of 292 strains of microorganism isolated from urine to the various antimicrobial agents was tested and compared. Thirty six patients with urinary tract infection were given with 300 to 600mg of Enoxacin daily for 7 to 14 days according to severity of urinary tract infection. The clinical symptoms and urinary findings improved in 30 patients (83.3%) and no clinical response was achieved in 6 patients (16.7%), but revealing 100% response in 9 patients of acute uncomplicated cystitis. In the antimicrobial susceptibility test, Enoxacin was much superior to aminoglycoside, especially against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Serratia spp., Enterobacter spp. and other Pseudomonas spp.. Enoxacin is a very effective and safe antimicrobial agent in treatment of the urinary tract infection.

Sclerosing lymphangitis of the penis occurs as a skin-colored or dusty red, cord-like thickening of tissue at the corona or within the coronal sulcus. The thickened, elongated lesion is firm and relatively nontender. The cause is unknown: because it occurs primarily in those who are sexually very active, however, it is likely that chronic trauma plays an important etiologic role. We experienced a case of pathologically proven sclerosing lymphangitis in a 31 year-old man. Ultrasonographic finding showed circumferential cord like hypoechoic band with irregular, but well demarcated margin.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1995;36(10):1677-1681
A prospective study was investigated to evaluate the effect of local anesthesla, surgical technique of cataract and superior rectus muscle injury on postoperative ptosis. Preoperative and postoperative measurements of palpebral fissure, margi reflex distance(MRD), margin limbal distance(MLD), levator function and photograph were taken. Two hundreds patients were randomized into four groups to study these effect. Group A received a Van Lint eyelid block and a superior rectus bridle suture. Group B received a Van Lint block and an episcleral retraction suture. Group C received an O'Brien eyeli block and a superior rectus bridle suture. Group D received an O'Brien block and an episcleral retraction suture. Postoperative measurements of palpebral fissure, margin reflex distance(MRD), margin limbal distance(MLD), levator functi and photograph were taken at first day and eight weeks postoperatively and ptosis patients of a drop in the lid margin of a 2mm or more were follow up at six months postoperatively. Ptosis patients of a drop in the lid margin of 2mm or more were found in 20% of group A, 18% of group B, 14% of group C, 4% of group D, and 14% of all cases. Postoperative ptosis was statistically reduced in group D at eight weeks postoperatively(compared with group A and D P=0.0091, group B and D P=0.0042, group C and D P=0.0268). It appears that trauma to the superior retus muscle complex is the most critical factor in postoperative ptosis and we could minimize this effect in group D.
