The Korean Neuropsychiatric Association (KNPA) was founded in 1945 and has now grown to over 2000 members as of 2003. The Association's academic meeting has also been increasing in size every year. To further develop the academic meeting of the KNPA, the task force team conducted this project. We suggest several points based on analysing the abstracts of the meeting that has been conducted during the last 5 years, the survey results performed at the 2002 annual meeting, the annual meeting of the American Psychiatric Association, and the academic activities of a Korean medical assoction, the Korean Society of Otolaryngology.

Korean Journal of Medical Education 1991;3(2):26-34
The purpose of this study was to investigate the perceptions of teachers to the learning objectives (specific behavioral objectives, SBO) of their own specialty subjects at real educational situation and also to examine how and when teachers use the SBO. A questionnaire was constructed through a series of discussion at the task force meetings. Opinions from the members were gathered and a list of 21 items of question was generated and finally rephrased each question item to make 20 closed-type and 1 open-type questionnaire. The questionnaires were administered to all the faculties who have been engaged in teaching a subject of basic medical sciences. Although the response rate of the questionnaire was 43%, fairly even distribution of rank proportion of responded faculties were analyzed that could give strong convince of acceptable level of the results. The analysis showed that most of the faculties have fairly high perceptions to the necessity of SBO in teaching situations, while only 25% of thorn administered the SBO to their students. About 33% of the responded faculties construct SBO individually, and 25% have joined to a group work in their own department. A booklet, "Specific Behavioral Objectives in Basic Medical Sciences", has been well known and 85% of them used the booklet as a reference to make their own SBO. 65% of the faculties keep the booklets and the remaining groups answered that they don't have it although some of them have been seen it before.

This study was conducted to reduce children's fat intake and to establish healthy dietary lifestyles. To achieve these goals, we searched, collected, and analyzed the materials related to the fat education, based on which the research personnel-professors and graduate students in nutrition and child education and elementary school teachers- discussed to figure out major topics, objectives, and detailed contents and activities appropriate for fat intake reduction. We also organized an advisory committee composed of 15 professionals in related fields to discuss the adequacy and validity of the specific contents. Finally, we systematically organized the contents and developed children's textbooks and teacher's guidebooks. Considering the different cognitive development stages of junior and senior elementary students we developed two different textbooks for each of them which are easy to read and understand, fun to play with lots of activities, and designed to practice into daily life. The contents cover three major topics-the concept of lipid, lipid in food, lipid in life and are composed of 6 units in total. To help teachers understand and and to instruct, teacher's guidebooks contain an overview of the education, specific information and practical guidelines for each class. We developed these education materials with the aim of lowering children's fat consumption and eventually promoting their health welfare; hopefully we expect these materials would be useful for children's nutritional education in the field.

5.New European Society of Cardiology/European Atherosclerosis Society Guideline for the Management of Dyslipidemia.
Journal of Lipid and Atherosclerosis 2017;6(1):8-14
The management of dyslipidemia is one of the crucial components in the prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Recently, the task force for the management of dyslipidemias of the ESC (European Society of Cardiology) and the EAS (European Atherosclerosis Society) updated their clinical guideline for the first time in 5 years. Although the new guideline maintained the previous recommendations in almost every aspect, there were some updates and modifications in the risk categorization and therapeutic modalities. In this review, I'd like to summarize the updated recommendations and differences compared to the previous version.

This study was conducted to reduce sodium (Na) intake and to establish healthy dietary lifestyles of children. To achieve these goals, we searched, collected, and analyzed the materials related to the Na education, based on which the research personnel-professors and graduate students in nutrition and child education and elementary school teachers discussed to figure out major topics, objectives, and detailed contents and activities appropriate for Na intake reduction. Also a survey was done on the sodium intake and nutrition knowledge of the elementary students. We also organized an advisory committee composed of 15 professionals in related fields to discuss the adequacy and validity of the specific contents. Finally, we systematically organized the contents and developed children's textbooks and teacher's guidebooks. 7.New Classification of Tremors: 2018 International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society
Journal of the Korean Neurological Association 2019;37(3):251-261
Tremor is one of the most common movement disorders. The classification of tremor disorders was originally proposed in 1998, but subsequent advances have highlighted the limitations of the original criteria. A task force on tremor was convened by the International Parkinson and Movement Disorders Society to review the previous criteria and to develop a revised classification scheme that will allow a more-comprehensive phenotype, thereby facilitating the discovery of specific etiologies. In this review we provide an overview of how to classify tremor disorders according to the new classification of tremors.

OBJECTIVES: We revised the Korean Medication Algorithm Project for Bipolar Disorder (KMAP-BP) 2014 to provide more timely information for the use of the information by clinicians.METHODS: We performed the survey using a questionnaire for the treatment of manic or hypomanic episode in the participants. There were sixty-one members of the review committee who completed the survey. The executive committee analyzed the results and discussed the final production of the applicable algorithm as considering the scientific evidence.RESULTS: The combination of a mood stabilizer (MS) and an atypical antipsychotic (AAP) was recommended as the treatment of choice (TOC), and a monotherapy with an AAP was the first-line pharmacotherapeutic strategy for the initial treatment of mania, with or without psychotic features. The MS monotherapy was the first-line choice therapy, but only for the non-psychotic mania patients. When the initial treatment failed, the TOC was a combination of a MS and an AAP in mania with or without psychotic features, and a combination of two AAPs was TOC for the psychotic mania, as well. For hypomania, the monotherapy with MS or AAP was the first-line as initial treatment, and the recommended switch to or add an AAP was recommended when the initial strategies failed.CONCLUSION: Compared with the previous version, the experts recommend more intensive interventions earlier when initial treatment failed to respond to a recommended monotherapy.

It is my great pleasure to give a brief advice in responcse to the request from the Editorial Board of The Journal of Korean Neuropsychiatric Association that has a firm willingness to be approved for listing in the Index Medicus, Medline/PubMed of the National Library of Medicine (NLM), NIH of USA. Herein, I totally recall my cherishing experience of the past responsibility as a passed Editor-in-Chief of The Korean Journal of Hepatology, which has been indexed since 2002. And I review the factsheets of the Literature Selection Technical Review Committee (LSTRC) of the NLM. Of course, The Journal of Korean Neuropsychiatric Association should make steady efforts to be upgraded. Undoubtedly, I believe dream comes true.

10.Nursing Service R&D Strategy based on Policy Direction of Korean Government Supported Research and Development.
Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing Administration 2016;22(1):67-79
PURPOSE: To develop strategies for research and development (R&D) in nursing service based on the policy direction of government supported R&D in Korea. METHODS: This was a descriptive study to develop strategies for promoting R&D in nursing by analyzing investment trends and status quo, policy directions, and implementation of the details of government supported R&D through government reports, websites of relevant agencies and literature reviews. RESULTS: Few nursing experts participated in clinical research on overcoming major diseases and in R&D for well-being and care. Development of nursing topics that meet the direction of government supported R&D were lacking. Insufficient implementation of nursing service R&D in a timely manner equipped with a performance-based system. Few research studies in R&D projects that included research using big data or contributing to developing medical instruments. Finally, an insufficient number of nursing specialists participated on government R&D advisory committees. CONCLUSION: For nursing service R&D development efforts should be toward quantitative expansion and qualitative improvements by sensitively recognizing policy direction of government supported R&D. The promotional capacity of nursing service R&D must be reinforced through a multidisciplinary approach and collaborative association with other professionals and the inclusion of nurse specialists on government R&D advisory committees.
