1.Study on the change of some physiological indexes - pain threshold in surgery for ureterstonectomy and bladderstonectomy
Journal of Practical Medicine 2004;484(8):19-23
Study on 120 patients having ureterstonectomy and bladderstonectomy anesthesia with acupuncture anesthesia showed that: in group of acupuncture anesthesia combined with supporting medicines (AACSM) pulsation increased average 9 cycles per minute, systolic BP increased average 8 mmHg, breathing rhythm increased average 1 time per minute, oxygen saturation in blood of patient seem unchageable during the time of operation. The anesthesia level A and B were 86.7%, the same for group of SA (90%). After acupuncture anesthesia, pain threshold of patient in AACSM group were 2.23 (K=2.23) higher than those of patient in group applying acupuncture anesthesia with out supporting medicine (K=1.95).

Acupuncture anesthesia (AA) appeared in 1950s. It originates with Chinese TCM researchers and is one of important achievements of modern medicine. AA was developed vigorously and applied widely between 1960s-1970s. Due to the objective and subjective reasons, clinical application and research of AA in recent 20 years have developed very little. The paper reviews the formation and development processes of AA, analyzes the advantages and mechanisms of AA and its problems, then provides the feasible advice for the development of AA.

Ashi points play a significant role in the clinical localization and qualitative diagnosis of acupuncture, as well as in selecting acupoints along the meridians and applying tonifying or reducing techniques. This paper introduces the theoretical basis and existing technical methods of objectification of ashi point diagnosis and treatment. It proposes that using sensory quantitative testing to determine the temperature and tenderness thresholds of ashi points could help to identify the pathological characteristics of "cold" "heat" "deficiency" or "excess" of ashi points. In addition, the possibility of objectification of ashi point diagnosis-treatment plan is explored from three perspectives, precision of selection of ashi point therapy, objectification of effect evaluation of ashi point analgesia, and differentiation of the studies on ashi point analgesic mechanism, aiming to provide new research ideas for the modernization of traditional Chinese acupuncture.

Acupuncture, a therapeutic treatment defined as the insertion of needles into the body at specific points (ie, acupoints), has growing in popularity world-wide to treat various diseases effectively, especially acute and chronic pain. In parallel, interest in the physiological mechanisms underlying acupuncture analgesia, particularly the neural mechanisms have been increasing. Over the past decades, our understanding of how the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system process signals induced by acupuncture has developed rapidly by using electrophysiological methods. However, with the development of neuroscience, electrophysiology is being challenged by calcium imaging in view field, neuron population and visualization in vivo. Owing to the outstanding spatial resolution, the novel imaging approaches provide opportunities to enrich our knowledge about the neurophysiological mechanisms of acupuncture analgesia at subcellular, cellular, and circuit levels in combination with new labeling, genetic and circuit tracing techniques. Therefore, this review will introduce the principle and the method of calcium imaging applied to acupuncture research. We will also review the current findings in pain research using calcium imaging from in vitro to in vivo experiments and discuss the potential methodological considerations in studying acupuncture analgesia.

5.Xie's articular needling and four pain-relieving points.
Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2011;31(9):807-809
Xie's articular needling is handed down from the older generations of the family of Mr. XIE Jiguang, which is approved to have extensive indications and capable to treat various pain syndromes and Bi syndromes. Articular needling is a technique of puncturing the area at the junction of the joints, tendons and muscles. Local points and distal points are often combined in the application. The four pain-relieving points are held as distal points in articular needling, which refers to Sanjian (LI 3), Houxi (SI 3), Taibai (SP 3) and Shugu (BL 65). If pain occurs at one side of the body, the four points are supposed to be selected on the opposite side the affected area. While if pain occurs on both sides or for chronic cases, all the 8 points on both sides should be applied. For treatment of local and chronic pain, local points must be combined. Reinforcing manipulations with superficial insertion should be applied for deficient syndrome at the healthy side in most of the situations. Moreover, points around the umbilicus should be selected for tonifying the primary qi.

7.Acupoint selection for acupuncture analgesia based on the relationship of "the opening-closing- pivoting theory" with meridians and organs.
Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2018;38(5):5353-5358
"The opening-closing-pivoting theory" recorded in () visualizes the activity of six meridians and indicates the relationship among the six meridians in physiology and pathology. Through the analysis on the classic medical works and modern literature of TCM by the modern medical masters, a specific relationship is discovered among the hand and foot meridians of the same name and among the organs. The is corresponded and interacted among the hand and foot meridians of the same name. Except the exterior and interior relationship among the organs, the related communication is also existing. Both meridians and organs are closely related to "the opening-closing- pivoting" theory. This discovery is the inheritance and development of "the opening-closing-pivoting theory" and plays the important role in the guidance of the acupoint selection of clinical acupuncture analgesia.

9.Study on some biophysical - biochemical indexes in gastrectomy patients by acupuncture anesthesia combined with supporting medicines
Journal of Practical Medicine 2004;490(10):6-9
A study performed on 120 patients who underwent a gastric surgery under an anesthesia with associsted acupuncture. The indicators of pulse, blood persure, breathing rhythms, blood saturation of oxygene were increased correspondly in comparing with those before the surgery. Immediately first after the operation, these indicators returned to normal level. 30 min after the acupuncture anesthesia, endomorphine level enhanced by 163%, acetycholine by 237,59%…i.e higher in blood than that before the acupuncture.

The clinical research articles relevant with 's subcutaneous needling therapy (FSN) were retrieved from CNKI, WANFANG, CBM and PubMed databases till January 2018 since the establishment of database. According to the general international criteria of disease classification, the diseases involved in the articles were classified and summarized. In terms of the clinical application and research of FSN, the questions were extracted and commented through expert's consultation. As a result, 412 articles were included. The statistical results of disease spectrum indicated that FSN was adopted in 65 kinds of diseases in 11 systems. Of these diseases, the relevant somatic pain disorders in the musculoskeletal system were the most appropriate. Professor explained that the clinical physicians of FSN should select the muscle-related disorders as the clinical research subject and treat them with normalized manipulation of FSN. The research on FSN is still at the preliminary stage. It needs more high-quality clinical and basic researches to provide the evidences for the therapeutic effects of FSN.
