1.Acupuncture in Thailand.

The article introduces the developing history of acupuncture-moxibustion in Thailand. Acupuncture-moxibustion has a long history in Thailand. Although its development with many twists and turns, it has always been popular among Thai. It is adopted by many private clinics, pharmacies and general hospitals nowadays. And there also exists 2 specialized hospitals of Chinese medicine. Undergraduate education has already been carried on by 2 colleges of Chinese medicine in Thailand through cooperation with Chinese universities of TCM. And departments of Chinese medicine have been set up in many comprehensive universities with the help of the Chinese side. Short-term training courses on acupuncture-moxibustion for biomedicine doctors have also been held by the Health Ministry of Thailand. Acupuncture now is undergoing a rapidly extension in Thailand. However, there are still a lot of problems crying out for solutions.

The author introduces the background of writing the innovation teaching material Science of Acupuncture Prescription in TCM university and colleges. The characteristics of this book were: (1) It establishes the train of thought on acupuncture prescriptions mainly based on the location of the acupoints. (2) It ascertains the relationship between prescriptions and science of prescription. (3) It highlights the scientific property of Science of Acupuncture Prescription by organic combination of inheritance and creativity. The publication of Science of Acupuncture Prescription serves as a bridge between Science of Meridians and Collaterals and Acupoints and Science of Acupuncture Therapy, perfects the course system of acupuncture and moxibustion and complements knowledge structure of acupuncture and tuinaology, and it also symbolizes the development of acupuncture and moxibustion.

The history of acupuncture in Namibia is only 15 years, and there are 3 acupuncturists and Tuina practitioners with permanent resident permit in Namibia. The University of Namibia has already established a medical college, which is now cooperating with the concerning Chinese medical university of China and carrying out education for the undergraduate students. The development of acupuncture-moxibustion and Tuina has a great potential in Namibia with an extensive indication involving diseases of internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, orthopedics, and neurology.

The definition and content of opposite points is updated, and renovation of acupuncture teaching is explored in this article. Opposite points interconnect meridians and acupoints. Location of one point reminds that of the other in pairs. When manipulating, point-to-point puncture from two opposite sides or penetrating method from one side are both applicable. It has the advantages of less point selection and regulating yin and yang. Its application in teaching of meridians, acupoints, acupuncture technique and treatment may bring enthusiasm into the study as well as improve the level of teaching.
