The study involved 197 non-AIDS patients with HIV infection treated in the Infectious Department of Dong Da Hospital, Ha Noi City showed that clinical features were poor. The common symptoms were enlarge nodules (28.4%), itching (8.6%), diarrhea lasted more than 1 month (8.1%), oral-throat candida infection (7.6%), recurrence of zona (6.6%). Habitus and working ability of patients were less affected. Most of hematological and bio-chemical test findings of patients in nomal range, except decreasing haemoglobin in 48.7% patients. Immune response was disordered. This opposited to poor clinical symptoms of disease. The number of TCD4 reduced lightly and moderately in 65% patients, the number of TCD8 increased in 78.7% patients and TCD4/TCD8 ratio reduced in 98% patients

A cross-sectional survey was carried out on 29 patients with AIDS before death at Dong Da hospital. Two common opportunity infections were tuberculosis (44.8%), Candida infections (10.4%). There was a rather high rate of patient died in condition of fever, diarrhea, weight loss (24.1%) or unknown reason pneumonia (10.4%). Tests indicated several hematological, biochemical and immune disorders: hematocrite level reduced in 100% patients, SGOT increased in 44% patients, SGPT increase in 32% patients, the number of TCD4 reduce under 200 TB/mm3 in 96.6% patients

Through the study carried out in 34 drug injection related AIDS patients in Binh Trieu hospital, which belongs to Binh Trieu center for rehabilitation and vocation in Ho Chi Minh City, the following conclusions have been gained: 1. 73.5% of the studied objects are over 40 years old and 91.2% of them are male. Most have low educational level, unemployed or are simple labour. Their HIV positive status is associated with unsafe practice, such as: long time of drug injection, high rate of sharing syringes and needles (77.8%), free sex and low rate of condom use (26.5%). 2. The common clinical features in AIDS patients include consistent fever, loss of weigh, consistent diarrhea and cough, etc. The most common opportunistic disease among people living with AIDS in Vietnam is tuberculosis (70.6%), candidiasis (41.2%), and other. 3. There are also immunological changes in AIDS patients: the decrease of T CD4, increases of T CD8, decrease of T CD4/T CD8 proportion. The IgG, IgA, IgM and beta2-microglobulin in the AIDS' serum are statistically higher than those in the healthy group.

The prospective study concerning some factors related between depression and anxiety with AIDS severity was performed on 36 AIDS patients with the manifestation of depression and anxiety associated to other mental disturbances in a total of 76 AIDS patients. The epidemiological and clinical characteristics of AIDS, the clinical disorders of depression and anxiety, and paraclinical date were investigated. Results showed the depression on 8.56% of cases, depression disorders were not difference between various age group. There was a positive proportional relation between AIDS severity and depression and anxiety.

The aim of the report is to increase the dentists', vigilance to the acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) by means of analyzing the oral exosyndrome and discussing the experience of diagnosis to 3 patients with AIDS. Vigilance to AIDS can make us to discover, diagnose and treat it in the early stage, and prevent us from transmission of the disease.

A retrospective study on 11 adult patients with HIV/AIDS in the Institute of Clinical Medicine and Tropical Disease during 1998 - 2000 has shown that average ages of patients was 26.486.68, patients with ages of 16-30 accounted for highest rate (72.5%), male patients accounted for 94.6%. HIV transmission among drug addicts was highest rate (62.2%). Rate of unemployment patients was 47.7%. The average duration of treatment within 15 days found in 73.9% of patients. The clinical feature included fever (65.8%), big nodules, cough and breathing difficulty (42.3%), weight loss (30.6%), skin and mucosal lesion (27%), diarrhea (25.2%), hepatomegaly (20.7%), throat fungus (19.8%), splenomegaly (10.8%), headache (10.8%), the opportunistic infections such as herpes zoster, dermatitis, tuberculosis.

67 AIDS patients and 35 patients with HIV+ admited to National Institute for Clinical research of tropical diseases were investigated to determine the changes in some biochemical and immunological parameters. CD4 decreased in both groups of patients, but the AIDS patients have more decreased number of cells (AIDS: 99.5%; HIV+: 83.3%). CD8 increased (61.1%) or normal (38.9%) in the patients with HIV+, but decreased 15.5% and only increased 25% in the patients with AIDS. Total protein level was decreased in 33.3% of AIDS patients and 8.82% of HIV+ individuals. Albumin level severely decreased in both groups. Globulin concentration increased in both groups. The activities of GOT, GPT and LDH increased in both groups. Little changes was shown in the rest biochemical parameters

300 HIV/AIDS patients in Hanoi include mainly young persons (20-29 years old subjects account for 62%) intravenous drug user (90%) more male patients than female. Main clinical manifestations are fatigue 41.7%, swelling gland 32.5%, weight loss 22.5% … reduce of red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin level …, which have negative correlation with the reduce of CD4 cell count. There is not the change of the contains of some blood components such as albumin, glucose, but there is significant change in the activity of come enzymes – ASAT, ALAT. The increase of their activity is correlated negatively with CD4 cell number. X-ray images have not dramatical change of lung mesenchyma and bronchial image
