1.The Latest Achievements in Study of Tuberculosis.
Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases 2011;71(6):395-399
Tuberculosis is one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity worldwide. In 2010, there were 8.8 million (range, 8.5~9.2 million) incident cases of TB, 1.1 million deaths from TB among HIV-negative people and an additional 0.35 million deaths from HIV-associated TB. Due to such health-related importance, tuberculosis is one of areas being actively researched. Many numbers of tuberculosis-related papers are being presented each year, and in this review, it summarizes contents of a few papers that had been selected among the papers presented from 2009 to early 2011.

Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;435(11):17-18
The results of the basic immunization of 3 doses of oral poliomyelitis vaccines for infant and boost immunization of 2 doses of oral poliomyelitis vaccine during 1993-1997 have shown that the poliomyelitis was significant reduced from 152 cases in 1993 to no case in 1998. The last case of poliomyelitis occurred in Phu yen province in 19th January 1997. In 2000, the poliomyelitis was eradicated in Vietnam. However, in order to prevent from returning the disease

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 2013;48(5):382-390
PURPOSE: The aim of this study is to analyze the fusion rate according to the mixture ratio and the amount of bone graft in minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MI-TLIF). MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study included 92 subjects who underwent MI-TLIF. Patients were classified into either group I, in which patients received transplantation with only autogenous bone, group II, in which patients received transplantation with hydroxyapatite mixed with autogenous bone by more than 50%, or group III, in which patients received transplantation with hydroxyapatite mixed with autogenous bone by less than 50%. For analysis of the correlation of amount of bone graft with fusion rate, patients were divided into group A, having less than 12 ml of bone graft, and group B, having more than 12 ml of bone graft. Visual analogue scale and Oswestry disability index were used for clinical assessment, and Burkus' classification method was used for evaluation of bone fusion. RESULTS: Fusion rates of groups I, II, and III according to the mixture ratio were 90.9%, 86.5%, and 86.2%, respectively. The fusion rate increased as the autobone ratio became higher; however, no significant difference was found (p=0.16). The fusion rates were 81.5% and 92.5% in group A and group B, respectively, which were classified according to the volume of bone graft, showing a significant increase in groups with bone graft volume more than 12 ml (p=0.03). CONCLUSION: A significantly high fusion rate was observed when bone graft volume was more than 12 ml in MI-TLIF. More than 12 ml of bone graft volume is essential for achievement of a satisfactory fusion rate.

6.Citation Analysis of the Korean Journal of Urology From Web of Science, Scopus, Korean Medical Citation Index, KoreaMed Synapse, and Google Scholar.
Korean Journal of Urology 2013;54(4):220-228
The Korean Journal of Urology began to be published exclusively in English in 2010 and is indexed in PubMed Central/PubMed. This study analyzed a variety of citation indicators of the Korean Journal of Urology before and after 2010 to clarify the present position of the journal among the urology category journals. The impact factor, SCImago Journal Rank (SJR), impact index, Z-impact factor (ZIF, impact factor excluding self-citation), and Hirsch Index (H-index) were referenced or calculated from Web of Science, Scopus, SCImago Journal & Country Ranking, Korean Medical Citation Index (KoMCI), KoreaMed Synapse, and Google Scholar. Both the impact factor and the total citations rose rapidly beginning in 2011. The 2012 impact factor corresponded to the upper 84.9% in the nephrology-urology category, whereas the 2011 SJR was in the upper 58.5%. The ZIF in KoMCI was one fifth of the impact factor because there are only two other urology journals in KoMCI. Up to 2009, more than half of the citations in the Web of Science were from Korean researchers, but from 2010 to 2012, more than 85% of the citations were from international researchers. The H-indexes from Web of Science, Scopus, KoMCI, KoreaMed Synapse, and Google Scholar were 8, 10, 12, 9, and 18, respectively. The strategy of the language change in 2010 was successful from the perspective of citation indicators. The values of the citation indicators will continue to increase rapidly and consistently as the research achievement of authors of the Korean Journal of Urology increases.

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2014;39(18):3621-3625
At present, a number of scientific research achievements has been formed. Scientific achievement is the crystallization of great efforts from scientific workers, and it's also the valuable treasure of human civilization. Standardization is an important way to promote the international communication of Chinese medicine, and it's significant in boosting China's scientific and technological progress, improving market competitiveness and promoting international trade. Transformation of scientific research to the guideline is not only beneficial to improving the technology content of the standard, but also to the conversion from scientific research achievements into productivity. Therefore, only by absorbing the advanced scientific and technological achievements, reproducing the theory of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and medical technology in standard form, can make TCM keep pace with the times. This study preliminarily explores for the method to transform scientific research achievements into guideline, in order to provide reference for the future technical specifications, thus to further the development of TCM.

9.Development Measures of the Journal of Korean Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics.
Journal of Korean Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics 2013;21(1):5-16
The Journal of Korean Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (JKSCPT) as a peer-reviewed semi-annual journal has published lots of clinical pharmacology articles of various fields since its first issue in May 1993. Particularly, a number of high-quality articles such as randomized controlled prospective clinical trials have been presented in this journal. The JKSCPT currently has been also indexed in Scopus, one of the famous international bibliographic databases, and the candidate journal accredited by the National Research Foundation of Korea. Although the JKSCPT has accumulated outstanding achievements as the specialized journal for clinical pharmacology in Korea, it is also true that there are many problems to be solved in order to be a more internationally recognized journal. The methods to analyze the status of a journal for the academic society were first suggested in this article. The SWOT analysis on the current status of the JKSCPT was done for establishing future development strategies. Making references to these analyzing methods of a journal and SWOT analysis, numerous problems and the suggestions for the development of the JKSCPT were presented in detail. The future model of the journal for the academic society was also briefly discussed.

Journal of the Korean Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry 2012;23(Suppl):S12-S23
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the common psychiatric problems in childhood. The symptoms of ADHD tend to last for adulthood and the patients suffer from various comorbid problems and functional impairments. Methylphenidate (MPH) is the first choice of pharmacotherapy for ADHD and many researches have demonstrated its efficacy. We reviewed the clinical trials for efficacy of MPH focusing on Osmotic-Controlled Release Oral delivery System Methylphenidate (OROS MPH). It was identified that MPH improved core symptom of ADHD, peer relationship and health related quality of life and might improve various aspects of cognitive function. It was proved that the efficacy of OROS MPH was better than placebo and comparable to immediate release MPH (IR MPH) dosed three times daily in various studies. Especially, parent's preference of OROS MPH was better than IR MPH. The efficacy of MPH for academic achievement was equivocal. Long-term efficacy of OROS MPH was also inconclusive and further study is necessary.
