Philippine Journal of Ophthalmology 2009;34(1):28-33
Objective:
To present 3 cases of Möbius sequence exposed in utero to misoprostol and discuss their clinical presentations, etiopathogenesis, and management.
Methods:
Medical records of 3 patients with Möbius sequence and prenatal exposure to misoprostol were reviewed. Clinical findings were compared with those reported in the literature.
Results:
Lack of facial-muscle movement, lagophthalmos with secondary exposure keratitis, decreased ability to crease forehead, and shallow nasolabial fold imply facial-nerve dysfunction. Small- and large-angle esotropia and apparent orthotropia with abduction limitation showed varying degrees of abducens nerve involvement. Two patients had early prenatal exposure to misoprostol during the first 3 months of gestation.
Conclusion
A history of misoprostol exposure should be routinely elicited from parents of children with Möbius sequence. Associated deficiencies in Möbius sequence and its variants require a multidisciplinary approach.

Neurological manifestation of pre-eclampsia is not so rare. But isolated abducens nerve palsy in pre-eclampsia is very rare. We report a case of severe pre-eclampsia with isolated abducens nerve palsy.

9.The Etiology and Clinical Feature of the Third, Fourth, and Sixth Cranial Nerve Palsy.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1997;38(8):1432-1436
40 patients who were diagnosed as the palsy of the third, fourth and sixth cranial nerve at Seoul national university hospital, were evaluated to reveal the etiology and clinical feature. The palsy of sixth cranial nerve is most common, and those of third and fourth cranial nerve followed it. Trauma was the most common cause of the palsy of the third, fourth, and sixth cranial nerve. Most of the palsy of the third cranial nerve involved both upper and lower branch, and aberrant regeneration was observed at 8 cases and its major cause was also trauma. The palsy of sixth cranial nerve was more frequently accompanied other cranial nerve palsy than those of the other two. Average recovery rate was 44.8% and, that of the sixth cranial nerve was higher than those of the other two.

Journal of the Korean Neurological Association 2003;21(3):315-317
Ocular neuromyotonia (ONM) is an episodic involuntary contraction of one or more extraocular muscles, resulting from spontaneous neural discharges of ocular motor nerves. Previous radiation therapy to pituitary or other juxtasellar tumor and vascular compressions are the most common reported causes of ONM. We report one unique case of ONM involving the abducens nerve without any other organic brain lesion and prior radiation therapy.
