The supramolecular inclusion properties of beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CD) and resveratrol (Res) were investigated using drug-protein interaction spectroscopy method. The differences between the results of interaction spectroscopy method and the results of classical method were compared. The total energy of the stable inclusion of cyclodextrin-resveratrol was calculated by Gaussian theory calculation. The stable inclusions in the process of interaction between resveratrol/inclusion complex and bovine lactgoferrin (BLF) were studied by molecular modeling. The results showed that the interaction spectroscopy method could explain the property of the inclusion in a more sensitive manner, it also interpreted the conveying mechanism of BLF binding with inclusion complex. The molecular modeling result showed consistent results with Gaussian theory calculation; both of the two methods obtained the stable configuration of beta-CD-Res inclusion. The relevant result provided an experimental consequence for the pharmacology research of beta-cyclodextrin-resveratrol inclusion complex as well as offering a new reference to the future research of supramolecular inclusion compound.

Clinical Medicine of China 2014;30(3):268-270
Objective To investigate the clinical biomarkers of acute lung injury(ALI) after the Stanford A aortic dissection. Methods Thirty patients underwent Stanford A aoatic dissection were selected as subjects, who hospitalized from January 2006 to March 2013.Of which,21 patients underwent total arch replacement with stented elephant trunk procedure and 9 patients underwent triple-branched stent graft placement. The general information of patients, preoperation echocardiogram data, and arterial partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2),partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2) and fraction of inspired oxygen(FiO2) were recorded before, after the operation and entering ICU.Alveolar-arterial oxygen difference (A-aDO2),oxygenation index (OI) were calculated. Results A-aDO2 and OI at preoperation, postoperative and entering ICU point were (112.47 ±41.06) mmHg,(136.13 ± 29.51) mmHg and (141.37 ± 25.94) mmHg; (535.23 ± 70.15) mmHg; (491.50 ± 73.12) mmHg and (387.33 ± 91.32) mmHg respectively, and the differences were significant (F=35.926,323.742;P =0.000).The levels of A-aDO2 and OI at entering ICU were significant different from that of pre-operation and post-operation (P < 0.01,P < 0.05).Conclusion Early postoperative oxygenation and switching functions of patients with Stanford A aortic dissection are subject to damage to some degree. The A-aDO2 and OI might be sensitive biomarkers of the diagnosis for early acute lung injury of aortic dissection patients.

BACKGROUND: Studies have demonstrated that exogenous basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) has intensive effects to promote proliferation of gingival fibroblasts (GFs) cultured in vitro and the heeling of gingival wounds. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of bFGF gene transfection on the biological performance of Beagle canine GFs. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: An observation and comparison in vitro experiment regarding cells was accomplished in Centre of Cell Biology and Development of Fujian Medical University and Department of Comparative Medicine in Fuzhou General Hospital of Nanjing Military Area Command of Chinese PLA from April to September of 2008. MATERIALS: Four beagle dogs, male, 12 months old, weighing 10-13 kg were used in this experiment, plRES2-EGFP-bFGF plasmid containing full-length human bFGF gene cDNA was constructed and conserved by our institution. METHODS: Free gingiva of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th premolars were excised from left upper jaw of Beagle dogs, dnsed with aseptic phosphate buffer four times, then cut into pieces and digested with 2.5 g/L pancreetin for 2 hours at 37 ℃. After the cantrifugation and supernatant removal, DMEM containing 10% fetal bovine serum was added to incubate on 6-well plate with coverlips in 5% CO2 incubator at 37 ℃. Logadthrnically growing cells were digested and passaged. GFs were transfected with pIRES2-EGFP-bFGF plasmid using liposome mediated method, while vacant plasmid transfection and un-transfection group served as controls.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Proliferation and apoptosis feature of the GFs were evaluated by M'rE and AOEB, respectively. The activity of alkaline phosphatase was assayed by chemical coledmetry. RESULTS: All of three groups cells entered log phrase on three days after transfection. MTT results showed that the proliferation of GFs transfected with bFGF was greater than cells transfected with vacant vector and untransfected cells (P < 0.05). AO/EB dyeing showed the apoptosis rate of GFs transfected with bFGF was reduced compared with other two groups (P < 0.05). After bGFG gene transfection, the ALP activity remained unchanged and there was no significant difference compared with untransfected cells.CONCLUSION: The transfection of bFGF gene to GFs can promote the proliferation of GFs and depress the apoptosis. No promotion is present with regard to the GFs differentiation.

Objective:To explore the effect of fortified human milk feeding on growth and complica-tions of infants with extremely and very low birth weight (ELBW/VLBW)during hospital stay by a pro-spective,random and controlled study. Methods:In the study,1 22 ELBW/VLBW infants were enrolled and divided into two groups. The infants fed with human breast milk, combined with human milk fortifi-cation (HMF)during hospital stay were named HMF group (n=62),and those fed exclusively with pre-mature formula were named premature formula feeding group (PF group,n=60 ).The data of the in-fants’growth (the velocity of increase on the weight, length, head circumference and upper arm circum-ference),the time of rebounding to birth weight, the time of needing intravenous nutrition, the time of hospitalizing, the proportion of extrauterine growth retardation (EUGR)during hospital stay, the level of hemoglobin, bone metabolism and incidence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results:Among the 1 22 infants included,(1 )the length increment in HMF group was higher than PF group [(0.89 ±0.23)cm/week vs.(0.79 ±0.34)cm/week,P=0.04];there were no significant differences in the weight gain, head circumference increment and upper arm circumference increment (P>0.05);(2)the age of rebounding to birth weight [(1 0.1 3 ±4.03)d vs.(8.03 ±3.28)d,P=0.002]and the duration of intravenous nutrition [(1 6.77 ±6.63)d vs.(1 4.23 ±4.1 5)d,P=0.01 ] in HMF group were longer than that in PF group, there were no significant differences between the two groups in the hospital stay and age achieved feeding;(3 )there were no significant differences between the two groups in the incidence rate of EUGR during hospital stay (P>0.05);(4)the level of calcium at birth in HMF group was lower than that in PF group [(2.1 9 ±0.22)mmol/L vs.(2.32 ±0.27) mmol/L,P=0.005 ],and the level of alkaline phosphatase (AKP)in HMF group at discharge was higher than in PF group [(363.98 ±1 22.49)mmol/L vs.(299.73 ±1 1 7.39)mmol/L,P=0.004];(5)the incidence of the feeding intolerance (6.5% vs.1 8.3%,P=0.04)and sepsis (4.8% vs. 1 6.7%,P=0.03)in HMF group were less than in PF group, there were no significant differences be-tween the two groups on the morbidity of necrotizing enterocditis, retinopathy of prematurity (ROP),and bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD)(P>0.05).Conclusion:HMF for premature infants may ensure the same growth pattern as those fed by premature formula, promote the calcium absorption, decrease the inci-dence of sepsis and feeding intolerance, and does not increase the incidence of necrotizing enterocolitis.
