Objective:To study the clinical and pathologic features of patients with lupus nephritis (LN) whose myeloperoxidase anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (MPO-ANCA) were positive. Methods:The clinical and pathological features were analyzed in 18 patients with LN whose MPO-ANCA were positive. And the data of patients with different clinical outcomes were compared. Results:(1)The hematological abnormalities, hypertension and serositis in these patients were more common than general ones with LN. (2)Proteinuria and hematuria were common, the morbidities of gross hematuria and renal failure in these patients were higher than general ones with LN.(3)Various autoantibodies were positive in these patients.(4)Segmental necrosis crescentic nephritis accompanied by density of immunocomplex in glomeruli and vasculitis in intestitium were common.(5)The morbidity of ESRF and mortality of these patients were similar to general ones with LN. The morbidity of tubular atrophy in those with poor prognosis was significantly higher than those survived. Conclusion:The patients with LN whose MPO-ANCA are positive have some difference from those with negative MPO-ANCA, but positive MPO-ANCA is not directly related to the prognosis.

Background and purpose:Chemotherapy plays an important role in the treatment of breast carcinoma by inhibiting the tumor growth and inducing the apoptosis.MAPK transduction pathway is closely related to proliferation and apoptosis of varieties of tumor cells, inhibition of MAPK pathway may increase the efficiency and decrease the toxicity of chemotherapy. Our study was to investigate the effect of MEK inhibitor PD98059 in response of breast cancer cell lines to Epirubicin. Methods:Human breast cancer cell lines MCF-7 and MCF-7/ADR were used as cell models.Epirubicin(EADM),PD98059(inhibitor of MAPK Kinase-MEK),or EADM+PD98059 was added into the culture medium, the expression of MEK2 and p-ERK were measured by Western blot, the growth of the two cell lines were measured by MTT.Results:ERK activity was elevated in MCF-7 after the treatment of EADM,the cells were more sensitive to EADM if combined with PD98059,while in MCF-7/ADR,ERK activity kept unchanged after EADM treatment, and PD98059 has no effect on the sensitivity of cells to EADM.Conclusion:MAPK signal transduction may be activated in some cells treated by EADM,adding inhibitor of MAPK signal transduction could improve the sensitivity of the cells to EADM.

Objective To study the influence of electro-acupuncture(EA)at Zusanli points(足三里穴) on the apoptosis of thymocytes in rats with abdominal infection and its mechanism. Methods A total of 40 Sprague-Dawley(SD)rats were randomly divided into four groups, including normal control group, model group,non-acupoint group and Zusanli group. The abdominal infection model of rat was made by cecal ligation and puncture(CLP).After abdominal cavity infection for 36 hours, the apoptosis of thymocytes was observed under electron microscope and light microscope, and the apoptosis ratio of thymocytes was determined by Annexin V-PI method with flow cytometry technique. The content of Bcl-2 protein of thymocytes and concentration of corticosterone in plasma were determined. Results Abdominal infection resulted from CLP could significantly increase the apoptosis of thymocytes and lead to the typical histopathological changes of apoptosis of thymocytes under electron microscope and light microscope.Apoptosis ratios of thyrnocytes in model group[(44.7?3.3)%],non-acupoint group[(42.7?3.0)%]and Zusanli group[(32.6?3.3)%] were significantly higher than the ratio in the control group[(21.2?2.3)%,all P0.05).Abdominal infection resulted from CLP also could reduce the content of Bcl-2 protein of thymocytes. The content of Bcl-2 protein of thymocytes in model group(71.2?5.6),non-acupoint group(73.5?5.9)and Zusanli group(82.4?6.8) were significantly lower than normal control group(95.3?6.3,all P

In 2013, the World Health Organization reported the first case of human infection with a new influenza A (H7N9) virus in China. This has caused damage and panic within certain areas in China. Therefore, analysis of this virus with bioinformatics technology is very necessary. Neuraminidase (NA) is one of the most important antigens of the influenza virus and an important target for anti-flu drugs. In this study, the nucleotide and protein sequences of NA gene of A/H7N9 influenza viruses were retrieved from the NCBI database, and MEGA 5.0 software was employed to construct a phylogenetic tree based on the nucleotide coding sequence; BioEdit software was used to align the nucleotide and protein sequences of NA and calculate the homologies of nucleotides and amino acids and then to analyze the important mutation sites of NA gene. The results demonstrated that the spread of influenza virus H7N9 showed certain geographical and temporal relations. The H7N9 virus isolated from China in 2013 belonged to Euroasiatic serotype, and its NA stalk region hadobvious variation, which may be one of the reasons that this virus infects human. These analyses may be very helpful for understanding the evolutionary relationship and mutation trend of A/H7N9 influenza viruses.

Chinese Journal of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2010;45(5):393-396
OBJECTIVETo investigate the appearance and clinical value of MRI in the diagnosis of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma in nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses.
METHODSThe clinical, pathological and MRI findings of five patients with pathology proved embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma in nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses were retrospectively analyzed.
RESULTSThe major clinical symptoms included nasal obstruction (4 cases), exophthalmus (4 cases), decreased eyesight (2 cases), epistaxis (1 case), decreased olfactory sensation (1 case) and restriction of eyeball movement (1 case). All 5 cases involved multi-location. Among them, 4 cases mainly located in the ethmoid sinus, one mainly located in the nasal septum. According to the IRS, 1 case was at stage II, the other 4 cases were at stage III. Compared to the grey matters, on T1 weighted image, the masses were homogenously isointensity in 2 cases, isointensity with patchy hyperintensity in 3 cases. On T2 weighted images, the masses were slightly hyperintensity with patchy hypointensity in 2 cases. Slightly hyperintensity with patchy hyperintensity in 3 cases. All 5 cases were markley heterogeneously enhanced after administration of contrast agents, with patchy of non-enhanced area. Of them, two were grape-like enhanced. Four cases presented with intratumor hemorrhage. Five with bony destruction. All of the 5 cases showed orbits and anterior cranial fossa meningeal involvement.
CONCLUSIONSThere are some special MRI findings in embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma located in nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. MRI can depict the encroachment of the tumor accurately, and may play an important role in clinical staging and in curative effect evaluation.
