Objective To investigate the effects of surgery-induced menopause on neuropsychological symptoms in women with perimenopause. Methods Sixty-eight women with perimenopause who underwent bilateral oophorectomy for benign indications were evaluated by the modified Kupperman index on the perimenopause syndrome pre-and post-surgery,including the score in neuropsychological symptoms.Patients were further requested to remake a decision on the acceptance of surgery,and were divided into "accept the surgery" group(n=30) and "postpone the surgery" group(n=38).The neuropsychological symptoms were reevaluated and comparison was made between these two groups. Results The prevalence of perimenopause syndrome pre-surgery was 67.65%(22/68),and that of moderate and severe symptoms was 30.88%.The prevalence of perimenopause syndrome post-surery(97.06%)(66/68)was significantly increased,as well as that of moderate and severe symptoms(70.59%)(P

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a mental disorder with high prevalence,morbidity and recurrence rate.The treatment goal of acute stage is to achieve remission,which means asymptomatic.However,clinical treatments and studies found impairment of psychosocial functioning still exists even after remission,which means incomplete recovery.As is known,the normalization of psychosocial functioning is essential to the recovery and the recurrence prevention of MDD.In order to provide reference and guidance for the clinical treatments and studies,we reviewed the related studies and found many kinds of factors influencing the restoration of psychosocial functioning,including demographic factors,diseases related factors,psychological factors,social factors and therapeutic approaches.However,few interior studies focused on the recovery of MDD,and the results of foreign studies were inconsistent,while the understanding of how those factors influence the recovery of MDD is not clear enough.In order to make the characteristics of psychosocial functioning recovery and mechanisms of the influencing factors clear,more in-depth studies should be done in the future.

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of overexpression of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) on the expression of epithelial cell markers (E-cadherin and alpha-catenin) and mesenchymal cell markers (N-cadherin and vimentin) in endometrial carcinoma. METHODS: The expression of all 4 markers was evaluated in EGFR overexpressing Ishikawa cells, control Ishikawa cells, and KLE cells using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Western blotting. The expression of these 4 markers was also determined in cancerous tissues of patients with endometrial carcinoma using immunohistochemical staining. RESULTS: Ishikawa cells transfected with EGFR showed decreased expression of E-cadherin and alpha-catenin and increased expression of N-cadherin and vimentin compared with control Ishikawa cells (p<0.01 for all). The expression of N-cadherin and vimentin was higher and the expression of E-cadherin and alpha-catenin was lower in stage II-III than stage I and in grade II-III than grade I endometrial carcinoma tissue (p<0.01 for all). CONCLUSION: Decreased expression of epithelial markers (E-cadherin and alpha-catenin) and increased expression of mesenchymal markers (N-cadherin and vimentin) were observed in human endometrial carcinoma tissue. These findings correlate with high EGFR expression in cultured endometrial carcinoma cells.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and acute toxieities of postoperative intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) combined with concurrent (C-IMRCT) or sequential chemotherapy (S-IMRCT) in the treatment of high-risk early-stage cervical cancer.Methods A retrospective study was performed on the clinical data of 105 patients with high-risk early-stage (Ⅰ B1-Ⅱ A2) cervical cancer from 2009 to 2017.Those patients were divided into C-IMRCT group (n=73) and S-IMRCT group (n=32).The 5-year disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) rates,recurrence rate,metastasis rate,and acute toxicities were compared between the two groups.The survival rates were calculated by the Kaplan-Meier method and analyzed by the log-rank test.Univariate prognostic analysis was performed by the log-rank test.Recurrence,metastasis,and adverse reactions were compared using continuous correction chi-square test.Results The median follow-up time was 20 and 23 months in the C-IMRCT group and the S-IMRCT group,respectively (P=0.813).There were no significant differences in the 5-year DFS and OS rates between the two groups (72.6％ vs.72.5％,P=0.918;82.8％ vs.78.5％,P=0.504).There were no significant differences in the recurrence and metastasis rates between the two groups (P=0.598;P=1.000).The univariate prognostic analysis showed that no pathological factor affected prognosis.There were no significant differences in the incidence rates of grade 1-2 hematological toxicity,diarrhea,and urinary tract infection between the two groups (46.6％ vs.41.9％,P=0.884;P=0.854;P=0.271).Conclusions Further clinical studies are needed in terms of the survival rate in patients with high-risk early-stage cervical cancer receiving C-IMRCT.

The application of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in the screening and diagnosis of prostate cancer (PCa) has improved the clinical management of PCa patients.However,the PSA assay has been faced with criticism due to its potential association with over-diagnosis and subsequent overtreatment of indolent patients.Matrix metalloproteinase-26 (MMP26) is a member of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and has been reported to be highly expressed in many cancers.This investigation evaluated the potential of serum MMP26 as a biomarker for PCa.The level of serum MMP26 was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in 160 subjects including PCa group (n=80),benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) group (n=40) and control group (n=40).Furthermore,we evaluated the expression of MMP26 in tissues by immunohistochemistry.The results showed the serum MMP26 levels were significantly higher in PCa group than in BPH group and control group.Similarly,the MMP26 protein was positive in PCa tissues and negative in BPH tissues and control tissues.In conclusion,these results suggested MMP26 could be used as a potential serum biomarker in the diagnosis of PCa.

Objective To investigate the mediating effects of self-evaluation of depressive symptoms between psychosocial function and negative automatic thinking in patients with depression in remission.Methods The Hamilton depression scale (HAMD-17),generic quality of life inventory(GQOLI),Beck depression inventory(BDI) and automatic thoughts questionnaire (ATQ) were applied to 122 subjects who were patients with depression in remission.Results (1) There was significantly negative correlation between self-evaluation of depressive symptoms and physical function and psychological function and social function(r=-0.559,r=-0.435,r=-0.388,all P＜0.01),and negative correlation between negative automatic thinking and physical function,psychological function and social function(r=-0.563,r=-0.449,r=-0.468,all P＜0.01).(2)The score of physical function,psychological function and social function in the group with low self-evaluation of depressive symptoms was higher than those in the group with high self-evaluation of depressive symptoms (low group:70.27±11.33,69.54±11.53,69.09±10.41;high group:53.33±9.32,57.24±13.80,57.69± 12.77),and the differences were statistically significant (t=7.40,4.82,4.48,P＜0.01).(3) Negative automatic thinking had a significant negative effect on physical function (B =-0.17,P＜0.01),which was affected by self-evaluation of depressive symptoms.The relationship between negative automatic thinking and psychological function was affected by self-evaluation of depressive symptoms.Conclusion Self-evaluation of depressive symptom plays a mediating role between negative automatic thinking and physical function,which also was a mediator in the relationship between negative automatic thinking and mental function.

Traditional Chinese medicine is a treasure of Chinese civilization,which has undergone thousands of years of precipitati-on and clinical verification.According to the theory of traditional Chinese medicine,ancient doctors used natural medicines and natural means to promote self-regulation and damage repair of the body.In recent years,as an important tool to repair body damage,stem cells have set off a research upsurge.With the continuous deepening of stem cell research and the continuous expansion of the fields in-volved,the potential correlation between traditional Chinese medicine and stem cells has attracted more and more domestic and foreign researchers to invest in research.This paper expounds regenerative medicine and stem cells,the advantages of Chinese medicine in regulating stem cells,and the opportunities and challenges faced by Chinese medicine and regenerative medicine,and reviews the cur-rent research trends and frontier trends in this field,in order to provide useful references for subsequent studies.

Pericytes are essential components of vessel mural cells that function to regulate blood flow, clear or phagocytose debris, and are contractile cells enwrapping capillaries throughout the body. It controls vascular permeability and is involved in the development of blood vessels and is an important regulator and potential drug target of angiogenesis and vascular function. Pericytes are also thought to play a key role in the tumor microenvironment, especially during tumor growth and distal metastasis. Therefore,in this review we discuss the relationship between pericytes involved in tumor angiogenesis and tumor metastasis, as well as the use of targeted pericytes to treat tumors,with a view to providing a basis for subsequent studies.

Objective To study and compare biomechanical properties of a newly developed magnesium AZ31B alloy intramedullary nail (AZ31B) with that of imported Poly-L-lactic acid intramedullary nail (PLLA) and pure titanium rib plate (TPRP), so as to provide scientific evidences for better internal fixation in clinical operation. Methods Forty fresh adult ribs were used and divided into 4 groups randomly. Three groups were made lateral rib fracture in midaxillary line and fixed by AZ31B, PLLA and TPRP, respectively, while the group with normal ribs was used as control. Biomechanical properties of specimens in each group were measured and tested using experimental stress analysis. Results (1) Three-point bending strength of internal fixation with AZ31B was close to that of control group (P>0.05), but significantly different to that of TPRP group and PTRP group (P<0.05); (2) No significant differences in torsional strength were found between AZ31B group, PTRP group and control group (P>0.05), and the torsional strength of both AZ31B and PTRP was superior to that of PLLA (P<0.05). Conclusions The internal fixation with AZ31B is an ideal mode for treating rib fracture since AZ31B has larger flexural strength than PLLA and TPRP, and its torsional strength was close to PTRP and normal ribs. This study provides some support for future research on biomechanical properties of AZ31B.
