OBJECTIVE: To study the effect of various polarity fractions extracted from Sancaofang (SCF) and its combination on proliferation of human lung adenocarciaoma SPC-A-1 cells for bolting the most effective position of anti-tumor and suitable compatibility regimes.METHODS: Ethanol extraction and water extraction were adopted to prepare 95%,60% and 30% ethanol extract portion,water extract portion of SCF and compound decoction.The MTT assay was used to determine the effect of various polarity fractions of SCF,decoction and its combination on SPC-A-1 cells proliferation.RESULTS: IC50 of 60% ethanol extract was the smallest for SPC-A-1 cells.60% ethanol extract combined with 95% ethanol extract acts as a stimulus to anti-tumor activity significantly.CONCLUSION: The best suitable compatibility regimes were 95% ethanol extract combined with 60% ethanol extract.The liposolubility extract of SCF can be applied for anti-tumor.

Objective To determine the value and reasonable application of slowly coated vicryl plus and albumin gel in primary suture after common BD exploration. Methods The operation was successfully performed in all 45 patients. The incision of common bile duct was directly sewed up by slowly coated vicryl plus and spurted by albumin gel after the exploration. Results There were no complications such as bile leakage and bile duct stricture etc.The mean payment of hospitalization was low 10.5%. Conclusion This method was safe,feasible and effective.

OBJECTIVETo study the numbers and locations of spermatic veins, testicular arteries, and lymphatic vessels in the spermatic cord of the varicocele patient under the laparoscope.

METHODSFifty-seven varicocele patients received laparoscopic ligation of spermatic veins, during which we recorded the numbers and observed the locations of spermatic veins, testicular arteries, and spermatic lymphatic vessels.

RESULTSDuring the surgery, we identified 3.3 ± 1.2 spermatic veins, 1.4 ± 0.9 testicular arteries, and 4.3 ± 1.1 spermatic lymphatic vessels. No statistically significant differences were observed between the two side in the numbers of the spermatic veins, testicular arteries and spermatic lymphatic vessels (P > 0.05). The testicular arteries were seen on the exterior of the spermatic veins and winding around them, while the spermatic lymphatic vessels mostly between the veins.

CONCLUSIONThe spermatic veins, testicular arteries, and lymphatic vessels in the spermatic cord of the varicocele patient have their specific anatomic characteristics. Laparoscopic identification of these vessels may contribute to the surgical treatment of varicocele.

Objective To investigate the dynamic changes of MDA, NO, SOD and pathologic changes of the lung and kidneyduring repefusion after haemorrhagic shock in rabbits, and to study the protective effects of edaravone during thecourse.Method Totally 29 beparinized (3 mg/kg) rabbits were randomly divided into three groups:tho sham-operatedcontrol group (group C, n = 7), the haemorrhagic shock group (group I/R, n = 10), and the haemorrhagicshock group with edaravone infusion (group I/R-edaravone, n = 12). Rabbits in the latter two groups were bledfrom left arteria cmralis in 10 minutes with MAP maintained at 40 mmHg for 60 minutes, and then group I/R-edar-avone was given edaravone intravenously. After that, resuscitation began:all blood loss was replaced with normalsaline within 60 minutes with MAP at the end ≥ 70% MAP before haemorrhagic shock. Edaravone was reinjectedat 10 hours after shock.All rabbits were killed at 20 h after reperfusion.Plasma nitric oxide(NO), malonyldialde-hyde (MDA) and superoxide dismutase(SOD) in every group were measured before shock,60 minutes after shockaad 1 h, 5 h and 20 h after reperfusien. Part of the right lung and the right kidney tissues were taken from everyrabbit for pathologic examnation after sacrifice.Results There was no significant difference in MDA,NO aad SOD among three groups before shock. A higherlevel of MDA (5.35±0.29 μmol/L), NO(27.75 ±2.88 μmol/L)and lower serum concentration of SOD(194.58±14.42U/ml)could be found in group I/R during haemorrhagic shock,as compared to group C(4.44±0.59 μmol/L,25.01±4.95μmol/L,210.86±24.54U/ml,respectively,P<0.01).At 20 hours after resuscitation,MDA and NO contents continued to increase(5.69±0.24 μmol/L and 28.01±3.10 μmol/L respectively,P<0.05)while SOD contents kept decreasing(151.83±9.36 U/ml,P<0.05)in group I/R.Comparing to group I/R,group I/R-edaravone had significant lower level of MDA(3.48±0.23 μmol/L,P<0.01)and higher concentration of SOD(195.10±11.87U/ml,P<0.01).Edaravone attenuated the pathologic changes in the lung and kidney.Conclusions Edaravone could effectively protect vital organs from reperfusion injury caused by free radicals following haemorrhagic shock by reducing plasma levels of MDA,NO and increasing levels of SOD.

Objective To investigate the changes of gastric emptying in awake rats after acute myocardial infarction(AMI). Methods The male Wistar rats were submitted to thoracotomy followed by or not by occlusion of the left coronary artery. After 24 h, AMI(n=12)and sham groups (n=9)were fed in gavage(1 ml)with ~(99m)-Tc-DTPA labeled test meal. Half gastric emptying time (GET1/2) and 50min residual rate were measured by single photon emission computed tomography. The rats of AMI group were sacrificed after 50 min. OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of ethyl acetate extract of Huanglian Jiedu decoction (EAHD) on hyphae development of Candida albicans.

METHODInverted microscope, fluorescence microscope, SEM were applied to inspect the Morphological change of C. albicans treated by EAHD at different concentrations. Solid agar plate was utilized to evaluate the colony morphology. Quantitative Real-ime PCR(qRT-PCR) was adopted to observe the expression of hyphae-specific genes such as HWP1, ALS3, UME6, CSH1, SUN41, CaPDE2.

RESULTEAHD with concentration of 312 and 1 250 mg . L-1 could inhibit formation of hyphae and colony morphology. The expression of HWP1, ALS3, UME6, CSH1 were downregulated 4. 13, 3. 64, 2. 46, 2. 75 folds ,while the expression of SUN41 were upregulated 7. 26 folds, CaPDE2 keep unchanged.

CONCLUSIONEAHD could inhibit formation of hyphae and colony morphologies of C. albicans through downregulating HWP1, ALS3, UME6 and CSH1.

Objective To analyze the social and family factors influencing rehabilitation of mental retarded children.Methods 237 children diagnosed as mental retardation in 2004 in Beijing were researched with Self-designed Questionnaires and data were analyzed by Cross-tabs and Logistic Regression statistical method.Results The analysis showed that the degree of disabilities (P<0.001), education received (P<0.05), and the attitude from community to these children (P<0.05), were factors influencing rehabilitation of mental retarded children.Conclusion The degree of disabilities is the most important influencing factor to rehabilitation of mental retarded children; the mild or moderate mental cases can get good rehabilitation in a better community and family environment. The attitude to these children from community can make a great help to the rehabilitation.

Along with the increase in fungal infections, Candida albicans prevention and control become the focus of anti-fungal infection at present. This study aims to discuss the effect monomer andrographolide (AG) on C. albicans biofilm dispersion. In the experiment, micro-well plates and medical catheter pieces were used to establish the C. albicans biofilm model. It was discovered by XTT assay and flat band method that 1 000, 500, 250 mg x L(-1) AG could impact the activity of C. albicans biofilm dispersion cells. The morphological structures of residual biofilms on catheter pieces were observed with scanning electron microscopy, which showed that 1 000, 500, 250 mg x L(-1) AG could induce C. albicans biofilm dispersion in a dose-dependent manner, and the dispersed cells were dominated by the yeast phase. According to the real-time fluorescence quantification PCR (qRT-PCR) test, AG could up-regulate HSP90 expression and down-regulate UME6 and PES1 expressions. This study demonstrates that AG could induce C. albicans biofilm dispersion to some extent.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of ethyl acetate extract of Huanglian Jiedu decoction (EAHD) , alone and in combination with fluconazole (FLZ) on FLZ-resistant Candida albicans.

METHODThe minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) and sessile MIC80 (SMIC80) of EAHD and FLZ to FLZ-resistant C. albicans were determined by CLSI M27-A3 microdilution method, and the synergy of EAHD combined with FLZ were examined by the checkerboard microdilution assay. Agar plate-method was adopted to observe the rate of antifungal activity according to time-kill curve. HPLC and qRT-PCR were utilized to evaluate the changes of ergosterol content and expressions of related genes, respectively.

RESULTMICs of EAHD ranged from 156 to 1,250 mg · L(-1), those of FLZ from 256 to above 2,048 mg · L(-1) with FICI approximate 0.066 in combination; SMIC80 of EAHD were higher than 1,250 mg · L(-1), SMIC80 of FLZ were higher than 512 mg · L(-1) and up to above 2,048 mg · L(-1). Combination group also showed synergy effect except one group showing addition effect. The results of T-K experiment also confirmed obviously fungicidal effect when treated for 12 h. When compared with control groups, the ergosterol was reduced 85% and 50% in the treatments of combination and EAHD alone by HPLC, respective- ly. The expressions of ERG1, ERG2, ERG6, ERG7 and ERG11 were upregulated, and ACS1, ACS2, MET6 were downregulated when exposed to FLZ. The expressions of the above genes were downregulated by treatment of EAHD. The expressions of ERG2, ERG6, ERG11 were upregulated, while ERG1, ERG7, ACS1, ACS2, MET6 were downregulated in combination group.

CONCLUSIONThe combination of EAHD and FLZ exhibited synergy against FLZ-resistant C. albicans through decreasing the synthesis of ergosterol, and resulting in the breakage of cell membrane.
