Objective To investigate the effects of substance P on anoxia/reoxygenation (A/R) injury to cardiomyocytes of neonatal rats. Methods Cardiomyocytes of neonatal rats were isolated from Sprague-Dawley rats, aged 1-3 days, and were cultured in 6-well plates for 72 h.The cardiomyocytes were then assigned into 4 groups (n =3 each) using a random number table:control group (group C),A/R group, substance P group (group SP) and substance P + D-SP group (group SP + D-SP).The cells were cultured routinely for 6 h in group C and the cells were exposed to 99.9 % N2 in an incubator at 37 ℃ for 3 h followed by reoxygenation for 2 h in the other groups. The cells were incubated with substance P with the final concentration of 10-7 mol/L for 1 h before anoxia in group SP.The cells were incubated for 1 h with substance P with the final concentration of 10-7 mol/L and D-SP (a specific antagonist of neurokinin-1 receptor) with the final concentration of 10-6 mol/L before anoxia in group SP + D-SP.The apoptosis rate and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity were detected at the end of reoxygenation using TUNEL assay and LDH assay kit, respectively. Results Compared with C group, the apoptosis rate and LDH activity were significantly increased in A/R,SP and SP+ D-SP groups.Compared with A/R group, the apoptosis rate and LDH activity were significantly decreased in SP and SP + D-SP groups.Compared with SP group, the apoptosis rate and LDH activity were significantly increased in SP + D-SP group. Conclusion Substance P can attenuate A/R injury to cardiomyocytes of neonatal rats, and activation of neurokinin 1 receptors is involved in the mechanism.

Endovascular repair has gained worldwide popularity for the treatment of aortic dissection and aortic aneurysm. The non-tapered stents are selected usually. The aortic diameters vary in different level.High incidence of distal stent-induced complications is closely related to the aortic taper angle.According to several published studies, the aortic taper angle could be evaluated by establishing geometric model.Applications of tapered stents can significantly reducing the incidence of distal stent-induced comnplications. This review summaries the latest researches in the studies of the progress and the application of the aortic taper angle and the tapered stents, providing a reference for endovascular stent-graft selecting in the treatment of aortic dissection and aortic aneurysm.

Objective To determine the serum level of KL-6 in patients with polymyositis(PM)and dermatomyositis(DM),and to investigate the possible diagnostic value for interstitial lung diseases(ILD)in pa- tients with PM/DM.Methods Serum KL-6 concentrations were measured by ELISA in 53 adult PM/DM pa- tients, the control groups of 22 patients with infectious lung disease, and 50 healthy subjects. The association with clinical features and serum KL-6 levels was analyzed. Results The serum levels of KL-6 were(1543?761)、(429?106)、(336?196)and(289?105)U/ml in PM/DM patients with ILD and without ILD,patients with infectious lung disease and healthy controls, respectively.Serum KL-6 levels in the PM/DM patients with ILD were significantly higher compared with PM/DM patients without ILD,patients with infectious lung disease and healthy controls(all P<0.01 ).However,no significant differences of serum KL-6 levels was found among PM/ DM patients without ILD,patients with infectious lung disease and healthy controls(P>0.05).Significant cor- relations were found between the elevated levels of serum KL-6 and the presence of ILD in patients with PM/ DM(P<0.01).The sensitivity and specificity of serum abnormal KL-6 levels for ILD in patients with PM/DM were 90.9% and 80.6%.Additionally,follow-up study showed the mean serum levels of KL-6 in six patients who died were significantly higher than that in other PM/DM patients with ILD(P<0.01).Conclusion Serum KL-6 level is a reliable serum marker for ILD in idiopathic inflammatory myopathies, which may contribute to early differentiate ILD from lung infectious disease.Increased serum level of KL-6 may predict a poor out- come.
