Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2003;0(08):-
Objective: To observe the therapeutical effects of Lipo PGE_ 1 in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Methods: 42 cases of type 2 diabetes patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy were recruited and were divided into two groups at random:therapy group treated with Lipo PGE_ l and control group treated with Vitamine B_ 1 and Vitamine B_ l2 . Results: After a treatment of 20 days, symptoms such as pain, numbness and hypoesthesia in cases of therapy group had been improved at different degrees.Examination of Neuroelectrophysiology indicated an increase of sensory nerves conduction velocity and motor nerve conduction velocity. The effects of therapy group outweighed that of control group. Conclusion: Lipo PGE_ 1 can significantly relief the symptoms of diabetic peripheral neuropathy and increase nerve conduction velocity. The mechanism of action may involve improvement of blood-supply of nerve by vasodilatation and inhibition of platelet aggregation that caused by PGE_ l .

Microbiology 1992;0(01):-
Anaerobic ammonium oxidation(ANAMMOX)is a new process of nitrogen conversion that has prospect most currently. The AN- AMMOX process offers great opportunities to remove ammonia from wastewater without the addition of an external carbon source and with con- siderable less aeration costs in comparison with classical methods.ANAMMOX is a biologically mediated process.Three bacteria are identi- fied responsible for the process as new deep-branching planctomycete:Brocadia,Kuenenia and Scalindua.Described it to separate and the method, biochemistry path, the ecosystem physiology characteristic for authenticate and distribute.

A new wood-degrading fungus Monodictys asperospera(Cooke & Massee) Ellis with a high level of laccase production was chosen to study. This laccase was purified by ammonium sulfate precipitation,DEAE-cellulose and sephacryl S-300.Purification of about 8.1 fold was achieved with an overall yield of 5.7%.Its molecular weight was estimated to be about 77 kD.The optimum temperature and pH of the lac-case activity were 55?C and 6.0,respectively.Kinetic studies of the laccase showed that the Km and the Vmax for using syringaldazine as substrate was 0.163 mmol/L and 0.194 mmol/(L.min),respectively.The carbo-hydrate content was 18.14%.In addition,it was found that laccase activity was significantly inhibited by Cu2+.

Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2001;14(2):121-122
Objectives:To study the effect of Basen on the sensitivity of insulin in diabetes mellitus. Methods:Blood glucose,lipoprotein,insulin,C-peptide were assayed after and before the administration of Basen. Results:Levels of insulin, blood glucose, and C-peptide were lowered after four weeks administration of Basen, which changed contrarily to ISI.Conclusions:Basen has effects not only on lowering blood glucose but also on improving the insulin resistance.

OBJECTIVETo explore therapeutic effects of Modified pinning combined with external tension band for the treatment of Gartland type III humeral supracondylar fractures in children.
METHODSFrom February 2009 to November 2010, 79 children with Gartland type III humeral supracondylar fractures were treated by modified pinning (pinning cross internal and external condyle assisted with lateral condyle) combined with external tension band (crossing needle end and hooking around) through lateral approach of elbow. There were 47 males and 32 females, with an average age of 8.7 years (ranging from 2.5 to 14 years). The time from injury to operation was 2 h to 8 d. The elbow joint function and Carrying angle were observed before and after treatment. The Flynn criteria were used to evaluate therapeutic effects.
RESULTSSixty-one patients were followed up (18 patients' data were lost) for 6-30 months (mean 13.5 months). According to Flynn criteria, 53 patients got excellent result, 7 good and 1 fair.
CONCLUSIONTreatment of child Gartland type III humeral supracondylar fractures with modified pinning combined with external tension band through lateral approach of elbow is believed to be an ideal method, which has advantages of reliable fixation, rapid recovery and less complications.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the application of combining mastopexy and triple-plane breast augmentation in correction of breast ptosis and atrophy.
METHODSPeri-areolar incision was performed to finish the fascia and dermal suspension to correct the breast ptosis. The implant was inserted under the pectoralis major muscle through lateral lower border of the gland and a "X" shape full thickness incision was made on the pectoralis major muscle according to the new position of nipple-areolar complex.
RESULTS14 patients received combined mastopexy and triple-plane breast augmentation to correct breast atrophy and mastopexy simultaneously. All the patients were regularly followed for 6-12 months. No patients suffered severe complication and the results were satisfied.
CONCLUSIONS"Triple-plane" breast augmentation could be safely performed with peri-areolar mastopexy with minor injury. The technique could help to ensure the balance between the gland, nipple-areolar complex and the implant.
