1.Comparation on effect of two kinds operation in treatment of recurrent pterygium with symblepharon
International Eye Science 2014;(12):2286-2288
AlM: To analyze the effect of corneal limbus stem cell transplantation and amniotic membrane transplantation in treatment of recurrent pterygium with symblepharon.
METHODS:Totally 80 cases of patients with recurrent pterygium and symblepharon were randomly divided into pterygium resection combined with limbal stem cell transplantation group and pterygium excision with amniotic membrane transplantation group, 40 cases in each group. All patients were followed up for 6mo after the operation, the recurrence rate of pterygium and symblepharon were observed.
RESULTS:There were 2 cases of recurrence in the group of corneal limbus stem cell transplantation (5%), 8 cases of recurrence in the group of amniotic membrane transplantation (20%), with statistical difference between two groups (P<0. 05).
CONCLUSlON:Two kinds operation could significantly reduce the recurrence rate of recurrent pterygium, but the corneal limbus stem cell transplantation group has the lower recurrence rate.

Objective To prove insulin resistance-induced by free fatty acid(FFA)with hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp and assess the prevention from this resistance by N-acetylcysteine(NAC).Methods Twenty-four female Wistar rats were randomly divided into 4 groups, each of which received infusion of IH(20% intralipid +20 U/mL heparin),IH+NAC,NAC,and saline respectively for 7 h.Two-hour hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp was made after 5h infusion.During the infusion and clamp the rats were awake.Blood samples were taken for measuring insulin,FFA and maleic dialdehyde(MDA)at 0 min,280 min,290 min,300 min,340 min,380 min,400 min,410 min and 420 min.The insulin sensitive index was calculated. Results Plasma FFA and MDA levels in IH group were significantly elevated compared with those in control,IH+NAC and NAC groups,P

Objective To investigate the disease categories(DCs),admitting departments(ADs),length of stay(LS),and hospital costs(HCs)of the in-patients in the rehabilitation department of a general hospital. Methods A total of 1 246 in-patients admitted to the authors'rehabilitation department over the period from 2004 to 2005 were analyzed retrospectively with regard to their age,DCs,ADs,LS and HCs by means of the Hospital Case Enquiry and Statistical System of Guangdong Province. Results The average age of the in-patients in 2005 was 61.2?13.7 years, and their average number of DCs was 5.52?1.54.Common first diagnoses included cerebral in- farct(40.4%),cerebral hemorrhage(12.6%),cervical spondylosis(5.7%),traumatic brain injury(5.1%), and fracture(3.7%).Rehabilitation(52.3%,),neurology(26.4%),neurosurgery(7.9%)and orthopedics (4.1%)were the most common initial admitting departments. The average LS was 39.1 d,and the LS of patients with rehabilitation, neurology, orthopedics and neurosurgery as their initial admitting department was 23.7 d,44.4 d, 60.2 d and 62.4 d,respectively. The average LS of those with their first diagnosis as cerebral infarct, cervical spon- dylosis, traumatic brain injury and fracture was 34.2 d,21.3 d,64.2 d and 63.5 d,respectively. The average HCs were 36 168 yuan RMB,with the cost of medicine the highest(47.6%),followed by costs for various therapies. The costs for cervical spodylosis were the lowest, while those for traumatic brain injury were the highest. Conclusion The rehabilitation in-patients usually had multiple DCs,needed lengthy stays and incurred high hospital and medicine costs. It is suggested that early rehabilitation interventions should be implemented before the patients are transferred to the rehabilitation ward so as to reduce HCs and LS.

Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 2004;0(11):-
Objective To evaluate the application of Snodgrass urethroplasty for failure hypospadias repairment. Methods Eighty-four cases of failure hypospadias were treated by Snodgrass urethroplasty from 2001 to 2005.The average age of patients was 3.7 years old.In the meantime,Duplay procedure was undertaken for other failure hypospadias with enough penile skin(76 cases). Results There were 64 cases cured,6 cases with urethral stricture and 14 cases with urethral fistula in 84 failure hypospadias cases.Sixty-one cases were cured in 76 cases used Duplay procedure. Conclusion Snodgrass is recommended for failed hypospadias cases with narrow urethral plate.

Purpose The aim is to immobilize the thrombin and to increase the stability of immobilized enzyme. Methods Thrombin was immobilized on chitosan and crosslinked with glutaraldehyde, and the optimum conditions for immobilization and stability of immobilized enzyme were studied. Results This preparation of immobilized thrombin was practicable, and the stability of this immobilized enzyme was obviously improved than that of thrombin.Conclution The conditions for immobilization were good, and reliable.Stability of immobilized thrombin to light, high temperature, low temperature and observation on reserving at room temperature was good.

International Eye Science 2014;(6):1086-1088
AIM:To observe the clinical effects of 23-gauge (23G) transconjunctival sutureless vitrectomy for idiopathic macular hole.
METHODS: In this retrospective study, 28 eyes of 28 consecutive patients who underwent 23 - gauge transconjunctival sutureless vitrectomy for idiopathic macular hole between January 2013 and October 2013 in our hospital were evaluated. The follow-up time was 3-12mo. The operation effects were analyzed.
RESULTS:The macular hole was closed in 27 eyes of 28 eyes which underwent 23G transconjunctival sutureless vitrectomy and not closed in 1 eye after surgery. Best-corrected visual acuity at postoperative 1, 3mo was significantly improved compared to pre-operation (χ2=8-65, P=0. 003;χ2=10. 33, P=0. 001). The macular hole was closed as shown by OCT. Intraoperative incision was sutured in 5 cases ( 18%) . There was no statistically significant difference in intraocular pressure between pre-operation and post - operation. No post - operative complications such as endophthalmitis, retinal detachment, vitreous hemorrhage came up.
CONCLUSION: 23G transconjunctival sutureless vitrectomy is observed to be safe and effective technique in the treatment of macular hole. It is therefore our preferred system for straightforward macular surgery.

Chinese Journal of Cancer 2011;30(3):149-152
Mouse models of cancer enable researchers to learn about tumor biology in complicated and dynamic physiological systems. Since the development of gene targeting in mice, cancer biologists have been among the most frequent users of transgenic mouse models, which have dramatically increased knowledge about how cancers form and grow. The Chinese Journal of Cancer will publish a series of papers reporting the use of mouse models in studying genetic events in cancer cases. This editorial is an overview of the development and applications of mouse models of cancer and directs the reader to upcoming papers describing the use of these models to be published in coming issues, beginning with three articles in the current issue.
