All 100% of the pupils were educated about dental hygiene After implementing the interventions of the pilot model of the school dental care services; the knowledge of dental care was improved dramatically in all the mentioned schools. The prevalence of dental caries decreased from 54.14% to 42.77%. 82.77% of the pupils possessed the knowledge of dental care after intervention vs 41.44% before intervention and 75% vs 33.56% possessed the skill of dental care practice.

4.School Counseling Services for Gifted and Talented Students: A Systematic Review of Literature
Malaysian Journal of Medicine and Health Sciences 2019;15(Supplement 1):128-133
Gifted and talented students are different from the other normal students and special attention is needed for due to their high cognitive ability and their socio-emotional conditions. Literatures show shortcomings and ineffectiveness of the counselling services to the gifted and talented students. The lack of effective interventions and approaches targeted to the students hinders the understanding on the importance of counseling services to the students. Hence, this study aims to explore the school counseling services for gifted and talented students. Based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, 10 articles were selected and reviewed. Findings from different journal sources conducted in different countries were assimilated to attain better understanding of the relevance of school counseling services to gifted and talented students. The role of the school counselors and the challenges in the school counseling services were also identified from the articles.

Philippine Journal of Nursing 2023;93(1):74-83
The banning of new nursing schools in the Philippines was imposed in 2010 to mitigate the failing compliance of schools with
various competency standards set forth by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), in addition to the burden of students
in paying their affiliations with hospitals. In the midst of the shortage of nurses in the country that was magnified by the COVID-19
pandemic, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) decided to lift the moratorium. This paper draws on the narratives of
nursing leaders and professionals on the phenomenon of nursing shortage and the issues that can arise with the reopening of
nursing schools. The verbatims highlight the historical and contemporary entanglement of various issues that contributed to the
problem of nursing shortage. In addressing these issues, this paper looks into some of the problems in Philippine nursing that may
conform with the broad contemporary problems identified by philosopher Alain Badiou. Viable solutions may be found in the
exploration of emerging research methodologies, consideration of systems thinking using technological advances, and
incorporating political competency among Filipino nurses.

Child Health Nursing Research 2015;21(1):64-73
PURPOSE: This study was conducted to explore the professional identity of elementary school health teachers. METHODS: In-depth interviews with fifteen elementary school health teachers were conducted from July 2010 to August 2012. Qualitative data collected by the researcher including transcription and field notes were analyzed through an adapted methodology based on the Grounded Theory of Strauss and Corbin. RESULTS: Fifteen categories, 35 sub-categories and 120 concepts were obtained. The key category that was consistently maintained in identity formation was 'keeping themselves being a teacher providing nursing' which has three styles, 'focusing on health education', 'combining nursing and education' and 'focusing on providing nursing care'. CONCLUSION: Results of this study will provide basic information for preparing manuals regarding the range of activities in school health teachers' jobs, improving promotion and merit payment systems for school health teachers, creating support programs for them, and contributing to the formation and establishment of their professional identity.

Korean Journal of Medical Education 2002;14(1):99-109
The purpose of this study is to examine the validity of the College of Dentistry transfer system. The study focused on the correlation between entree examination results and class achievement of transfer students and double major students, grades difference according to school year and their major of previous schools. Also, there was the comparison of school life satisfaction among the transfer students, double major students and ordinary students of dentistry school. The result of the research is as follows; First, there was no significant relation between the entree examination results and class achievement of transfer students and double major students, suggesting the entree examination results cannot be a reasonable prediction for class achievements. Second, there was no significant difference in the grades according to school year and their major of previous schools, showing that students can well adjust themselves no matter what their majors are. Third, there was a significant difference in transfer and double major students' grades, and showed higher achievement as their school year passed. Fourth, the transfer and double major students were more satisfied in school life than the ordianry students. On the basis of the above findings we can conclude the transfer student system of college of dentistry was successful, but needs some improvements in such as student selection, welfare facilities and school culture.

OBJECTIVE: This study assessed the species composition of mosquitoes collected from ovitraps in selected public schools of Metro Manila, Philippines.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Ovitraps were installed from November 2013 to February 2014, in purposively selected public elementary and high schools of Metro Manila. Ovitraps were installed inside classrooms and collected weekly and examined for mosquito eggs and larvae. Speciation was done once a month from November 2013 to February 2014. All positive paddles were immersed in water for larval emergence, reared to fourth instars and were identified using taxonomic keys.
RESULTS: A total of 1,482 ovitraps were installed in the selected public schools, and 18,325 larvae were collected from elementary schools, while 16,670 larvae were collected from high schools. The mean ovitrap index or infestation rate was 49.69% during the period of data collection. Mosquito larvae were identified as Aedes aegypti (88.94%) and Aedes albopictus (11.06%). Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus coexisted in some of the examined paddles. No significant differences were observed between the type of school and the presence of Aedes larvae. Significant differences were observed between total number of mosquito larvae and months of collection.
CONCLUSION: The presence of Aedes mosquitoes in schools evidently shows that continuous vector surveillance in schools is necessary as this information will help in the formulation of proactive vector control activities, thereby preventing the occurrence of mosquito-borne diseases.
