1.Nurses' Perceptions of Patient Safety Culture and Patient Safety Activities in Mental Health Hospitals.
Journal of Korean Academy of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing 2015;24(2):82-92
PURPOSE: This study was done to provide a basis for safer medical services by describing nurses' perception of patient safety culture and patient safety activities, and analyzing factors that affect patient safety management activities among nurses working in mental health hospitals. METHODS: The study participants included 208 nurses with three months or more experience and who worked in one of 14 mental health hospitals. The instruments were the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture and Patient Safety Management Activities Scale. Collected data were analyzed using mean, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and Stepwise multiple regression with the SPSS/WIN 20.0 program. RESULTS: Perceptions of patient safety culture and patient safety management activities were positively correlated. Factors influencing patient safety management activities were communication and procedures, patient safety in the field, frequency of events reported and attitude of supervisor/manager. The explanatory power for patient safety management activities of these variables was 35.0%. CONCLUSION: A systematic approach at the hospital level is needed to ensure the safety of nurses' work environment as well as to develop patient safety culture to increase patient safety management activities by nurses in mental health hospitals.

BACKGROUND: Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems are becoming more widespread in organizations. Consequently, their effectiveness has become a core topic for researchers. This paper evaluates the performance of the Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series 18001 specification in certified companies in Iran. METHODS: The evaluation is based on a comparison of specific criteria and indictors related to occupational health and safety management practices in three certified and three noncertified companies. RESULTS: Findings indicate that the performance of certified companies with respect to occupational health and safety management practices is significantly better than that of noncertified companies. CONCLUSION: Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series 18001-certified companies have a better level of occupational health and safety; this supports the argument that Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems play an important strategic role in health and safety in the workplace.

3.Labolatory biosafety in the centres of preventive health in northern provinces
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2004;14(4):105-109
Medicine in the Northern provinces on the laboratory biosafety,
authors showed that in 82%of facilities, there are adequate ventilating space,in 92,8% there are ceilings and walls made by suitable materials,in 98%,there are proper laboratory coveralls, uniforms and gloves. However,in 83%, laboratory biosafety management and indoor regulations were not complied with strictly; there are not clearly biohazard warning signs, in 57% of facilities there is not any processing system for draining waste water flow. 75% of supervisors were not properly trained on biosafety

6.Impact Of Interprofessional Education On Patient And Workplace Safety On Allied Health Interns
Malaysian Journal of Public Health Medicine 2017;2017(Special Volume (1)):72-77
The passing of The Occupational Safety Health Act and the subsequent release of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) report had resulted a stronger sense of awareness towards workplace and patient safety in the Healthcare Industry. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommended Interprofessional education as one of the preparative module in handling safety issues in the healthcare Industry. The aim of this paper was to evaluate the students’ knowledge, perception, attitude, interrelationship, inclusion, understanding and teamwork towards patient and workplace safety. The research was conducted by administering questionnaires to returning allied health students from their internship in the healthcare settings. The overall results indicated that 63.4% of the students Agreed, 18.3% Neutral, 17.9% Strongly Agreed and only 0.3% had Disagreed on the impact of Interprofessional education towards patient and workplace safety in the Healthcare Setting.Occupational Safety Health and Interprofessional Education are relatively new concepts in Malaysia and require a strong understanding before a strong concluding stand could be established. The researcher feels a more concurrent approach should be implemented to actually know the impact of Interprofessional education towards patient and workplace safety in the healthcare settings.

Healthcare Informatics Research 2017;23(2):94-100
OBJECTIVES: This paper describes an evaluation study on the effectiveness of developing an in-hospital medical device safety information reporting system for managing safety information, including adverse incident data related to medical devices, following the enactment of the Medical Device Act in Korea. METHODS: Medical device safety information reports were analyzed for 190 cases that took place prior to the application of a medical device safety information reporting system and during a period when the reporting system was used. Also, questionnaires were used to measure the effectiveness of the medical device safety information reporting system. The analysis was based on the questionnaire responses of 15 reporters who submitted reports in both the pre- and post-reporting system periods. RESULTS: Sixty-two reports were submitted in paper form, but after the system was set up, this number more than doubled to 128 reports in electronic form. In terms of itemized reporting, a total of 45 items were reported. Before the system was used, 23 items had been reported, but this increased to 32 items after the system was put to use. All survey variables of satisfaction received a mean of over 3 points, while positive attitude, potential benefits, and positive benefits all exceeded 4 points, each receiving 4.20, 4.20, and 4.13, respectively. Among the variables, time-consuming and decision-making had the lowest mean values, each receiving 3.53. Satisfaction was found to be high for system quality and user satisfaction, but relatively low for time-consuming and decision-making. CONCLUSIONS: We were able to verify that effective reporting and monitoring of adverse incidents and the safety of medical devices can be implemented through the establishment of an in-hospital medical device safety information reporting system that can enhance patient safety and medical device risk management.

9.Evaluation of the knowledge, attitude, and practice of food hygience of housewife and servers in restaurant in Hanoi.
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;435(11):15-19
A total of 200 housewives at home and street vendors were interviewed by using structured questionnaires, the result has indicated the insufficient knowledge of food safety, most of them never had lessons in food handling practices. The environmental sanitary condition and food handling practices at home were better than at the street side. Stagnant wastes were found around 59% of the selling places of street vendors. 71% street foods prepared 2 hours before. Contacted foods with bare hands usually during street food preparation (89%). The practices and knowledge of food safety should be encouraged. A training guide gives clear information on how food becomes contaminated and on the measures that should be taken to avoid such contamination is essential.
